I feel so dumb. Totally overlooked the whole frozen in ice for 100 years aspect of aang’s story. Lol. Ok now it makes sense.

As we all know, Aang was frozen while in the avatar state and that drained his life energy and probably explains why he died young, him being frozen for 100 years affected his age

Aang was already 100 years old when Katara and her brother saved Aang from the glacier. He could as well been frozen for much longer if you think about it. That said, he did not put himself into the Avatar state, that only happened when his life was put in mortal danger. Korra's story began great, but I really think some bad writing decisions were made.

the real reason is that the story writers from korra needed some known characters to tie the stories together. And since Korra is an avatar it's obvious that Aang couldn't be around while all the other OG crew (except sokka) is still there. They even brought back Iroh.

We literally didnt want to see a new avatar without finishing the story of Aang and his friends

Aang actually dying at the end of book 2, must‘ve had some impact on his early death aswell.

Technically Avatar kuruk was the youngest Avatar in history to die so young. Aang is the first avatar in history to die twice. The first time he was killed after getting struck by azula's lightning bending ain't really wasn't that young when he died was how you explained it.

when tenzin met aang, he looked the same when he sealed blood bending. I'm guessing sealing bending would cost his life.

The real reason aang died that young is because they wanted a sequel show where some of the old characters were still alive to help the new Avatar, and the only way to get a new avatar is to die

He wasn’t young. I died an old age. He was 112 years old when he was found. So He died 166 years old. His time wasn’t short. He lived a great life with his wife and kids.

How did Sokka die ? I can't find any info. I assume Appa died with Aang. Also what about Momo ? he wasn't seen in Korra so i assume he is dead or went away somewhere after Aang and Appa died

66 is not young both my parents passed away in their 30s its normal for people from antiquity to live extreamelly short lives due to lack of medicine, proper health care, quality of life list goes on

This doesn’t make sense though because some Russian scientists just unfroze some worms from like 20,000 years ago and they are still alive and functioning. Aang being frozen in the Avatar state should have technically been completely stabilized from Avatar energy. Think about how powerful the avatar state is, he was frozen in the state for 100 years. His body should not have decayed, also this is all fiction so who knows I guess. I think they killed him because they couldn’t have a show about Korra if Aang is still alive.
