I have to admit, I wish I lived closer to your location. The scrap wood you toss into the burn pile is the exact stuff I use to make things (bird houses, cutting boards, small shelves - etc. I would also use the slabs from the sawmill for firewood. Stay safe young man.

I always enjoy listening to someone knowledgeable talk. Most people are lost on the number of years and experience it takes to really know what you're doing, so they tend to get bored listening. And it's not just the number of years and experience, it's also the ability to retain all of it to a point where it becomes "knowledge" and also able to explain it to others in a way it can be helpful and they can learn something.

Sometimes saying goodbye to a long well serviced piece of gear is like saying goodbye to an old friend or a family pet. Man if I lived your neck of the woods, I'd be hitting you up for your off cuts..like the two feet off of the eight footer for custom boxes. I see that wood go into the burn pile and 😢. Not the sap wood. You can burn that. But even that center cut Cherry, I'd let that split out and still use it for a rustic mantle beam. But, love your channel. Thank you.

Not sure how much digging you do , or , how involved your excavation projects are , but you might consider an excavator versus a backhoe , for the extra flexibility , especially if you get a thumb or grapple . Not concerned with your " improvisational approach " to a problem . You do what you have to .

Let me say that I enjoy your videos. I would like to see more sawing but they are your production and I enjoy watching. One question: the wood you burn, why do you not cut it into turning blanks and pen blanks? That would use more of the wood and make you more money with another revenue stream.

My friend, you need to wear hearing protection while sawing with a chain saw. I have tinnitus in both ears, mostly the left, and it is permanent and total. My ears ring all the time and it could have been avoided by protecting my ears through the years. But a Marine shooting everything that Uncle Sam has is what started it, and 30 years of Game & Fish Law Enforcement with outboard motors and firing ranges and shooting in general, have ruined my ears. The problem is, you don't get the ringing immediately, it is usually years later. I woke up one morning with my ears ringing back in 1982 and they have been ringing ever since. Now, they provide (eyes and ears) hearing and eye protection on the range and will get on your ass if you don't use it, but neither the USMC nor DNR-LE provided them in the early years. I even used to use Winston cigarette filters as ear plugs for a while but stopped. Be good to your hearing and protect your ears and hearing with a simple set of hearing protection or plugs. Easy and cost effective. You will love yourself for it. jh

Question: some prices/logs you burned looked like they would make good firewood. Why burn them? Is firewood a possible profit area for you?

I really enjoy and appreciate your KZfaq Channel. You have cut some of the prettiest lumber I've seen and your commentary is always informative. I always look forward to a new video from you. Do you sell the cut-off pieces that have large knots or even crotches? It seems that the Apple, Cedar, Oak, Maple, Cherry and especially Black Walnut "scrap" pieces might be salable to woodworkers for wood turnings of bowls etc. Heck, even the stump ends of some of lumber logs might have Burls an other real crooked grain that would make a great wood turning but makes a bad board.

Seems to me you might be able to sell some of your unusable rounds off as firewood? Or is that just not worth your time? It's amazing what a nice fire will do to relax the soul. Take it easy Nathan! Ed
