Johnny Depp and Rocky Brooks, who accused him of assault on a movie set in 2017, settled a civil suit that was scheduled for trial later this month. Court records show Depp had at least one witness set to testify that Rocky Brooks’ claims weren’t true. So why would he settle? 💯 correct..I read/listened to some of the depositions. Many Attorneys & legal antilyst said JD cld hv Won this case( in their opinion)..JD had just sit through 6+ weeks in a court room w/ AH.

It's anything but admission of guilt. Takes time for cases to get to court so it can tie up your life for several years. Then when it's set you have to appear.

Amber wanted to settle because she knows her chances of winning are not good and she can’t afford to pay the judgement. Johnny settled cause it wasn’t about the money for him. He wanted his reputation back and he got it.

Restored his reputation? He can barely string a sentence together so i can't see him acting anytime soon! He is used to us using his money to get away with all sorts of crimes excluding Heard's allegations. The drugs and alcohol have left him a shell of his former self.

You don't have to go to court to prove TRUTH. We already know who Johnny is after going through the Heard trail. The settlement was most likely to avoid another trial, and to clear the air with a 'friend'. Johnny's not looking for more drama, but is trying to avoid it and move on. Money doesn't mean anything to Johnny at this point in time. He finds other things of value more valuable than money.

Imo, Rocky started this, because he thought he would be able to collect big after Depp lost the Heard trial. The only problem is that Depp didn't lose and public support of him is HUGE right now. Rocky probably realized that Depp's legal team was going to destroy him (the evidence overwhelmingly supports Depp's version) and that he might just walk out of that court room looking like another Amber Heard in the court of public opinion. More than likely his lawyer offered Depp a favorable deal that let Rocky get out of this while he still could!!

He didn't loose the deformation trial he won, and there's paperwork to prove that the London case was handled by a friend of the heard family which is why the court ruled to forgo any evidence or decisions from that trial, atm heard owes him 15million and Depp owes her 5, he paid this one off because the more people try and capitalize on this the more his reputation and career are on the line

I think Johnny's determination to pursue the 'truth' against Amber wasn't just about the obvious difference between 'wifebeater' which is horrific and 'got into a fight with another guy' which is a big "so what?', it was that court was the only place he was allowed to share the recordings they both made with the entire world, letting us hear Amber in her own words admit to being the only one doing anything physical, until the day she took his finger off, also throwing a can of paint thinners at his throat which he admits throwing back, saying it was the ONLY time he threw anything at her (she admitted to throwing vases, pots, pans, everything) - two guys arguing about whether one hit the other isn't reputation harming. If he HAD hit him, anyone who knows JD would just think "meh, guy must have deserved it". Being labelled an abuser of women is next level, that cannot be allowed to stand. There's no inconsistency here, he just doesn't have a ton of recordings to prove his innocence this time, he can't be sure he'll win.

Moving on is the greatest thing anyone can do with their lives. We’ve all been hurt and have hurt others. Brooks is a puppet being used to smear Depp. But Depp is empathetic and knows that forgiveness requires moving on and he’s done that. Brooks will never work on big projects in Hollywood ever again because of the false claims he’s made. I wish Depp all the glories moving forward.

From reading Brook's deposition where he admits to not suffering any physical, mental or career repercussions after the alleged incident, you are probably right about him being used as a puppet for someone else's agenda. So he got away with some spoils of a war that never came to be, but there's always karma that will put things right in the end.

The price for success seems to be craven people filing BS lawsuits to cash in. Settling is almost always more cost effective than going to trial, due to lawyer's fees. I hope it was settled for a pittance because Brooks lied.

Technically it didn't cost HER anything since her home owners insurance paid her legal fees but I do think it cost Johnny at least that much. Since she was the abuser she should have to pay his legal fees.

She should pay for his lawyers because malice of her was involved. She should pay for all costs occurred during the six weeks in Virginia. He and his lawyers and his bodyguards stayed in Hotels all the time during the trial. Johnny could not work on movies or other things during the six weeks. Cost for hotels of several people and for his six weeks time spent would be some more thousands.

After 6 weeks of his court case with Amber Heard, Johnny was sick and tired of the legal process. I don't blame him for wanting to settle this case and get it over with so he could get back to liveing his life without any worries. Plus I think Rocky Brooks saw an opportunate to cheat johnny out of some money and being the low life that he is, Brook though he could win.

This would have interupted his tour with Jeff Beck and the cost of the flights legal fees and disappointed fans a settlement was just a more convenient outcome . If the court documents don’t stipulate he wrote a cheque then you shouldn’t be saying it in public. Who knows. After Rocky saw Camille’s brilliance maybe he was scared and his lawyer put forth an offer that agreeable to both?

Yes. I agree. Rocky started this, because he thought he would be able to collect big after Depp lost the Heard trial. The only problem is that Depp didn't lose and public support of him is HUGE right now. Imo, he probably realized that Depp's legal team was going to destroy him and that he might just walk out of that court room looking like another Amber Heard in the court of public opinion. Rocky is wisely getting out while he still can!!

I think it was a good move on Johnny's part to settle it out of court and move on with his life. Besides, if I am Rocky, I don't think i want to face Camille and "Jason Momoa" in court. 😁

@Johnny Depp My daughter's absolute all time favorite movie growing up is Sleepy Hollow! You're an amazing actor and human being. I thought of you seeing on 60 Minutes Australia a young man whose fiancee accused he and his father of many untrue incidences. She had a history of this behavior. This family lost almost everything because of this woman. So thankful that you've gotten through this! I have only one complaint, we need some Johnny Depp movies! ☮️💜
