Was it just me or was it promised, in the first film, that the savior would free everyone from the control of the machines. I believed that Neo would destroy the Matrix, even if it took time, and create a city without control and without the threat of machines. In the end, everything ended exactly as it began. I would love to see a sequel that ended this dominance completely, even if it was cliché.

Understanding Matrix Resurrection requires being aware of the meta between Warner Brothers & the original writers, think do I. They never wanted to continue the movies in the first place but Warner Brothers was on the verge of using a legal loophole to do it anyway, and without them. Consequently the new movie was the writers ending the franchise in a way that makes it difficult for W. B. to continue the franchise. It is kind of like how James Gunn ended Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3, he did it in a way as to make the public less willing to entertain Disney continuing the franchise without him.

so the only one i think is missing something is the first question the bit "how did he know about the matrix" is also that there is a choice made by every human in the matrix (the architect tells us this and it's what the Oracle added to the matrix) to remain inside it although it is subconsciously, but the subconscious can bleed into the conscious mind so because that also leads to the faint memory of the "matrix" that drives him to want to know what it is.

My question is, if what Smith said is true, could that mean that literally anyone else could be the One? Smith could indeed take control of other people connected to the Matrix, hence, the "I've always been anyone " part. But how does Smith know that "anyone could have been" the One? Is he saying that everyone within the Matrix somehow has the power to become the One? Is that where the story takes us, with Neo and Trinity teaching others how to use their hidden, dormant powers?

My understanding is that the Architect/Oracle systems were programs with restraints that gave them structured ethics and that the Analyst has less restraints since his "server" is partitioned from the rest of the Matrix. He may even be some form of an updated administrator program from the Hell Matrix but that is just a theory I considered.

Is it ever explained how they decide who to free from the Matrix? Is it always hackers? Is it conspiracy theorists? People that can fill certain roles?

I think over some time, Matrix 4 will be more appreciated. It was just a bad time and unfortunate circumstances which complicated the production of the film. Despite it's flaws, Matrix 4 does add some necessary depth to the saga.

I like your approach of considering Matrix 4 Neo Both Neo and not Neo at the same time I like the inherent contradiction it fits the themes it also works nicely with the way their powers are fragmented. Been awhile since I watched the newest Matrix film, but I noticed and questioned something that the film kept hinting at and no one seems to talk about: New-Smith constantly popping up in Neo's proximity and always seeming to know where he is and what's going on. My theory is that Smith is more connected to Neo than ever before, a literal part of him; able to manifest at will near him and see through eyes like a passenger in his body. I remember when Neo was freed again they told him there was something wrong with his code, something they couldn't identify. Plus the analyst says they had to rebuild both Neo and Trinity using what they could salvage and I'd say it's a fair bet that part of that salvage was Smith. Since Smith-Virus had infected Neo and cloned himself the Smith Code had part of Neo and was connected to him. I think Smith was used like glue and integrated more into Neo. They are after all Yin and Yang to each other, and Smith keeps dropping hints through the movie too about Neo not understanding how connected they are.

This is probably a dumb question, but after this analysis you got me thinking about the support aspect of the Matrix. If the machines have people as programmers maintaining the Matrix from within, do they have human beings supporting and maintaining the Datacenters of the Matrix in the real world?

I love this channel and all the interesting points. But I got to be honest. This movie a judicial movies. Its about Law, Moral and a change of lifestyle, and what it can create if we choose to not blame the system and instead blame our own approach to the system. In fact, the system was built for our benefit, we just havent learned or been taught to use it properly. I strongly recommend watching Mark Passio's breakdown of the matrix, and also Jordan Maxwell's research of the judicial system.

The agents are not actually AI at all, but AI designed brain wetware image download "overlays". Possession in effect. Evidence : Smith manages to possess a human 'in the real', disconnected from the matrix. There is no evidence that agents can be where a human was not. Humans can also learn skills almost instantaneously - how do those downloads work ? Same mechanism as the agents ? Discuss.

I dont know if its al ready covered but i noticed something: The Dialog between senator Hemman and Neo in Matrix Reloaded. Theory: Is it possible, that the Senator knows about the Cycle of the Matrix? The Dialog is about the ability to give and take life on the side of the machines. So god like abilities. All what the machines are for the humans, the humans are for the machines (Source of energy). He is one of the oldest person in Zion. He was for 11 Years in the Matrix, since he regrets that he was asleep for 11 Years. We have no idea how many people are naturally born in Zion and how many people get freed by red pill but assuming that 250.000 People are living in Zion he will definitely not be freed by the former anomaly. Still he states that Neo is STILL a human. So he might know that the one might be a part of the machine-world. Then he states that there is so much in THIS world he can't understand. But for everything there is a reason. (This is the logic of the machines, causality) And there is also a reason for Neo to do what he doing, but he needs to become aware what his reason is before its too late. So he might imply that Neo needs to find and understand his reason (or destiny) so that the necessary dependency of machines and humans continue so both species can survive. Don't know if @Matrix Explained covered that already. Maybe he is even a designed Human as Neo is, to guide the one on his path.

Like the humans all slowly awakening having to live in the world that they have made. Dealing with all the damages done from the result of their egos. No more machines. metacortechs nice, play on meta cortex ie programming the algorithms used to construct a form of hive mind like computer in order to upgrade the cognitive capacity of the source to a new level. thereby creating the technological singularity. i neat little nod to the original pitch of the matrix serving the purpose of allowing the use of humans brains for organic analogue computation nodes for the components for a larger system. a meta brain of connected minds as neurons linked by sentient programs weighted to serve as meta synapses. hence meta cortez hence the software company listed in the tech listings as metacortechs. shame it didn't make it past the parasitic exec class. really could have elevated the medium if you can forgive the messianic clichés.

I watched it some weeks ago.. I found it kind of weak and almost 100% fan-service... it could have less flashbacks to the original movies... Has some good bits but overall forgettable...

They are all npcs in an AI generated world. There are no real humans in the series.
