I was adopted and was therefore named twice, once when I was born, and then when I was adopted. I was named after my adopted mother, and it never really felt like my name. I had a very painful childhood as well. I was always painfully uncomfortable when people called me that name. My mother was very insecure about my being adopted, so once I was an adult, I never discussed it with her. When I was in my 40's I was able to access my original birth certificate, and found my name before, and I thought "yes, that's my name". I started using it informally and then last year I finally changed it legally, it's one of the best things I ever did for myself. A lot of that old pain has indeed dissipated along with that name.

How old were you when given a new name? I guess it was extremely confusing! Like... not feeling accepted for who you believed you were before? You had to change yo be loved and accepted 😢💔 That's really painful! Bless you. I am glad you have your first name and are much happier now 😊 😅 Always loved and accepted yourself 😍🥰💖 Amazing what names can do. I was always Francesca, then it changed to Frankie. My dad told me he liked Francesca and Frankie Fraser was the same name as a killer gangster. That was no good for me. All though I am ok with Frankie again now. For years I felt uncomfortable but I am comfortable with it again now. I am not my name. I love both names 😊💖

My 4 year old daughter asked me, "Mama, can I change my name?". I instantly got the biggest smile and answered "Yes of course, what do you want to be called?", she said: "Fleur Fraise", which is French for "Flower Strawberry". It completely melted my heart and made me soo happy, and now she goes by the name "Aya Fleur Fraise". My 5 year old suggested we could use that name as a family name. I do have the want to change my name and I know it'll happen when the time is right. I do sense a worry about my parents reactions about me taking away their names. But at the end of the day, it's just names. Nothing is lost, only reborn.

That's just wonderful to hear. Me and my siblings always call our mother "mum" as it just felt more fitting (although we're german, so I don't know when and where we picked up "Mum" :D) and she always loved how everyone was "Mama", but she was "Mum". And even when talking to others about her, I usually refer to her as Mum or even "the Mum" and my friends sometimes laugh, because it sounds like I'm refering to someone with a title, like "the King" :D Being a mother surely is the most wonderful and meaningful mission one can have, I wish you the very best fulfilling it! Eckhart the same happened with me. Childhood trauma. My parents named me Conny. But the administration didn’t wanted to write that name down by my birth. Officially my name was Constantia. After healing my trauma and my awakening, at 50 I started using my official name: Constantia. Not Conny anymore. It is just like you say. I was not that same person anymore. It was meant to be… Straight after that I started working as a trauma coach. Now I help heal others.

When I became homeless and went to a city I had never been to before (by a calling from the heart), I knew a new name should show up for me, as a deep intuition was saying. But I knew it wouldn't come from my active choice. After some time I came to know some beautiful souls in that city. As they learn the story of how I ended up in that city, one young girl said to her mother: "he's so free that he seems like a little bird" (little bird in Portuguese is said "Passarinho"). Then out of the blue, she would meet me in the streets and instead of calling me by my name, she would just say "Hi Little Bird!" (Oi Passarinho!). Of course I knew immediately that was my new name. And it reminded me of the metaphor that was used some 20 years before, when my spiritual guide associated my personality with a little bird that was free to just let go and fly away. Eventually I came back to my "normal" life after a lot of unforgettable experiences in that city. But I didn't feel the need to keep that name to my old friends and colleagues. What I found in that city (rather inside myself) was enough to make me identify with the formless and the nameless. At a certain point, it wouldn't matter anymore what name I would adopt. The "little bird" stage was just that, a stage. And yet I'll never be anything other than the little bird.

💎Danke, Meister Eckhart💎

This guy is a true mystic. He didn't directly answer the question. But more importantly, he set the stage for why the change came about. i.e. It is not about the name change itself, but a whole slew of factors, including the burden he carried from childhood and the "synchronistic events" that naturally led to the change in moniker. We may refer to this mystic as Eckhart, but I think internally he still considers himself nameless and formless. True mystic.

On the inability of being understood and loved by others, I wrote this poem in Dutch, but translated it in English afterwards: "The Glass Wall The Ancient Wall is shining through and I can see a glimpse of you that shows me you are near. The causal link of time and space extensive as the devil's maze, it seems to disappear. I try to take your hand and make you understand, but vain is my endeavor. @@jodiesalmond5663 An advanced soul who takes over an existing body...Thats the idea, and sometimes the difference is so pronounced it certainly appears that way. A new name for myself was imperative and helped me visualize a new set of behaviors to better serve my well being. What’s in a name…nevertheless, it’s often a tool to move beyond.
@TheMediumChannel

LOL at around 1:30 when Eckhart says having a name is easier than having no name, no form etc. reminds me of doing mediumship and often I see the spirits as blue light but in my mind they share an image of what they looked like at one time in their life sometimes which is a lot more evidential than me saying for example "yes your grandma is by your side now, she's a lovely little beam of blue light". 😂.....I mean I understand formlessness and unity and all but sometimes to navigate this 3D earth life some mode of identification is helpful...

@@8oulela I am a psychic seeing beyond this dimension and when you see the formless you still can iterate it into its form for clarification, while still seeing beyond form. Exactly as Eckhart speaks of, that’s why so many of us enjoy listening to him. He understands the unity of oneness and formlessness well while still *being* experiencing itself in form.

When Eckhart says formless he doesn’t mean ghosts or communicating with the dead.... 👀
@MalissiaCreates

@@firstname7769 true. But it does not negate those of us who do and still understand and relate to his message all the same. We all have different experiences and backgrounds and all can attribute his teachings to our lives. When you are without form, an eternal being, whether having a physical or non physical experience, you are known to some who can still meet with you. Not all can experience this in their current state of consciousness.

I delight in the humor in these talks. Cool perspective on names absorbing all the experiences in life and how shedding it can symbolize and be felt as a shedding of the old identities and stories. Also, really glad you stuck around and ultimately sought to liberate the self from the emotional and mental pain experienced through awareness, then guide those of us seeking the same. Lastly, fell in love with Glastonbury during an extended stay there; is quite possibly my favorite place I’ve been to so far on the planet. Can so see you living happily there. Your brief, general description was spot on and hilarious.

It is such a blessing eckhart decided to share his knowledge with us. He don't need any new camera or microphone but we need to listen more closely.

I named my first daughter Amelia. Two decades plus later, I found out that my great-grandparents had lost a baby. No one in the family knew about that until they went through their old papers long after they died. Her name too was Amelia. Same middle name too! Stunning.

Thank you for all your inspiring lessons. I reflect on them often and am slowly working to try and be more present (huge pain body that I have been dissolving one step at a time). I, too, changed my name partially as part of my therapy from healing from child abuse. I dropped my middle name (connected to my mother) and my last name (connected to my father), but kept my first name as a reminder that I survived my past and am moving forward in a healthier direction. For simplicity, I decided (with permission) to keep my ex-husband's/kid's father's last name. I also let go of most of my childhood mementos. These simple steps were quite freeing.

@@PremRohan He might not have fully-realised the Self in that birth, I don't think he's fully realised the Self in this one either.. until one is a Jnani, like Ramana Maharshi / Nisargadatta Maharaj, then there's re-birth. He's got very little mind / ego left though so he's much more spiritually advanced than most of us will be. If you read accounts of Jnani's on Self Realisation, they never sleep.. even if the body is fast asleep, they remain completely aware of their own existence. They live in non-duality, no duality what so ever. They are everywhere, within you right now.. There's no mind / ego at all, they describe it as pure peace and bliss. I've never heard Eckart describe the direct experience the way Jnani's do, which means he still has a subtle level of mind.. it's not completely died in the heart yet.

@@PremRohan I believe if a soul wants to incarnate again it can choose to do so, outside of karmic cycles. Eckhart is a walk-in, so it would make sense that his "new soul" would be from an enlightened soul who had that kind of desire. Earth and physical incarnation is not a punishment, it is the leading edge of consciousness.
