It's a regional thing. In Germany, I don't know of _one_ field that does not use Joule.

@@dasdWARf every field tests using .3gram bb's at a max of 1.3 joule. doesnt matter where you play. except for dmr and snipers outdoors those have different rules

We test using fps and joules with .30s. Fps is the required insurance specs.

I was at a Milsim on Saturday and they measured joules with .3. It was Pretty good. The cap was 1.55. My primary was shooting 1.1 which is super low. I have replaced the spring and its now 1.34 joules.

In the Netherlands we used to test on fps on .2 (with 360fps max) nowadays we test on joules on .3 (with 1.2j max)

I want to know your thoughts/experience on Retro Arms hopup chambers, ones that screw on the gearbox, do they offer better airseal and nozzle aligment? what problems could I run into and in general are they worth it? especially for rarer repliacs like VSS , where hopup chamber and gearbox meshing might not be perfect.

You can play with 1.7J indoor at Czech Republic, but only semi for most fields

I have a few questions about field testing using fps, etc. I am currently looking at an event where they state that dmr AEG's will be tested using .2 bb with a 450 fps max, but dmr HPA's will be tested using .32bb with a 355 fps max. Why would the testing be done differently between AEG and HPA? I have both hpa and aeg and have never noticed any difference when they are set to the same fps with a particular bb weight. What am I missing?

I Think these days the brushless motors would be it for DSGs. Yet to buy one, but I hear they could careless of what your gear ratio/spring is.

Blew up a piston head, noodled piston teeth, melted a tappet, lock tight doesn't work on the pinion bolt (just super glue it). It's really powerful so you don't really need 12v like I was using. Working on a Tri sector gear setup with it. Most I think I'll do is tri burst lol.

After my DSG caught an ASG 22TPA motor on fire, I switched to a warhead brushless motor and I will say that if you can afford them, they are pretty dang awesome. They will pull pretty much anything you throw at them. For instance, I’m using it in a 13/1 DSG with an SP150 spring, and a 25mm spring guide spacer

I have a second hand stock Ump 45 from umarex that I got from a friend for , what are some cheap and easy upgrades that you might recommend as the gun shoots at around 320 fps on .20 bbs and should I open the gearbox because it’s about two years old. As for usage i don’t think he ever took it to a field only collects them

I would recommend airseal components such as an shs air nozzle. Even if you don't buy anything I would recommend shimming and greasing the gearbox.

My field recently switch to joules and it's made tuning so much easier. They do it the more accurate way where they measure it with the ammo weight you're using, the downsides are this works on a honor system, and takes longer to measure everyone before play. Interestingly after the switch it got rid of the difference between DMRs and snipers, I can run a semi-auto HPA DMR that is more powerful then most bolties on the field. I've yet to use this setup yet bc of accuracy issues but it seems a little unfair for bolties...

I don't understand. Did they just take advantage of joule creep before? If the energy limit is higher for BASRs then there should still be a difference.

@@harbingerofwarx995 Sorry, may not have been very clear, yes joule creep was a thing because it was fps based. But the fps rules had DMRs capped @450fps and BARS were allowed up to 550fps, giving them a distance advantage, now the rules are 3 joules max (outdoor field w/ 100ft MED over 2 joules) for either platform so using a BASR is now a disadvantage compared to a DMR

@@sloppyoper8or282 oh that's entirely different. They just removed the difference by choice, you made it sound like the change to joules unintentionally caused BASRs to be at a disadvantage.

If I wanted to upgrade a bone stock m4 to have the best trigger response possible(ROF is not a factor) without being crazy expensive, is there a list of go-to parts? Is it that simple or are there other things I need to consider when picking parts?

I could be wrong but I believe the x-9’s internals are as solid as they get. I imagine they’ve got classic army motors in them which have a good track record. Everything I’ve heard from owners is out of the box their awesome. Maybe shimming and AOE, stuff like that but actually changing out parts. Don’t take my word for it though I’m not an owner. Just trying to help out w what I’ve learned

Every field uses joules. They find the joules by measuring FPS. Some fields make you chrono with .20s when they should make you chrono with the bbs you will be using that day. No field just uses FPS, no insurance company in the world would allow that. You need FPS+weight to get joules. They all have a chart they look at when you chrono in. No field just lets you have 400 FPS with any bb you want. That does not exist. Every field uses joules.... You need to use the weight you chrono in with all day or you get booted. It's not that fields need to use joules, they already do, they need a good way to check joules.

Laziness? many chronos are set to fps as default. Many sites use very old chronos. Manys sites have staff who are old. Its like how the US are lazy and never moved on from the imperial measures system....but I supose it fits in as they are the current Imperial power on the planet

Could be wrong but my understanding is that the US still uses the imperial system because it would be very very difficult to switch out all the measurements used in safety standards, road signs, and any other label under the sun that you can think of. It wouldn’t be financially worth it to change systems, although I really wish it was because the metric system is sooooo much easier

Truthfully it comes down to you don't fix what's not broken, and bro honestly America lazy? How do you look at the guy with the best record, damn near undefeated and call them lazy. My money is on America any day of the week and the score board proves it.
