No mention of steroid use? I hear it blamed a lot, people get strong muscles too quick, and the tendons take far longer to catchup and cannot handle the loads that the muscle can.

Not mentioned due to focus on few facts already backed by research. Yes, I do believe anabolic abuse could contribute to tendon/ligament tears (and much worse), but unfortunately the clinical research to prove that x amount of anabolic use increases risk by x amount simply has not been done. Had bicep injury??

@@BoneDoctor_KZfaq No bicep injury thankfully! I had golfers/climbers elbow and found the flexbar brilliant for recovery. Also had a bad shoulder and found extended hanging helped a lot.

@@BoneDoctor_KZfaq Yes thanks, I have also backed off on chinups, focusing on pullups. I think weighted chinups were the main thing that caused the issue.

Started going to the gym daily a few months ago and whenever it's time to work out bi's I get a fear of tearing a bicep. Apparently massaging the tighter parts or stretching it before the workout makes the risk a lot lower

About two months out of my bicep tear surgery. Happened playing rugby, just excessive eccentric load and boom, tendon completely ruptured. Love the content keep it up!

@@BoneDoctor_KZfaq Surgical repair, right now it feels pretty good. Extension just about back to normal, pronation and supination all back to normal.

@@brathir388 funny story, my buddy invited me to play “touch rugby” I’m a rugby newbie so he wanted me to come out and have a good time and learn the game. When the opposing team had the ball he was running , and all I did was extend my arms and “touch” him down and my tendon had a complete rupture. It was just the force of him running and my arm/ bicep tendon absorbing all that force in an extended position. Pretty insane. I tend to leave out the “touch” portion of my story because I look like a giant baby 😂

After thorough review to me it seems like bicep tears are cause by a mixture of full extension arm and heavy weight... I will maintain a strong bend in my arms always now

agree. studies have suggested increased risk w/ supinated grip deadlift. most tears occur outside of gym

At 51 my biceps are nice and healthy because I don’t do dumb 1 rep maxes

Tore mine in an arm wrestling competition. Over my 9 years competing I've seen it probably 20 times. 2 times in my opponent. Every time it's palm up , arm extended. I ended up in this position doing a move I don't normally do and tore mine.

have never seen this type of injury w/ dumbell curl but "theoretically" any bicep mm resistance can be cause. most happen w/ falls or quickly reaching out against heavy force. ever had any issue?

@@BoneDoctor_KZfaq Thank you for letting me know. I never had an issue with it, just wanted to see if it was worth continuing to do dumbell curls/barbell curls.

@@hellopuppyarecoolthis isn’t something you need to worry about regardless unless you’re juicing, ego lifting, or not practicing full range of motion/proper form during your exercise.

Does heavy weight lifting cause bicep tear? Like when you feel hurt after doing with dumbells?

Yes.. if you're trying to rep until failure (aka your arm gave up completely) it's really bad habit, the influencer don't know shit! the pain are usually meant you're strained your muscle, that means your body telling you to stop. Same signal if lactic acid stings your arm. You should wait about 20min or an hour later in order to do it again. then.. maybe gave it a rest altogether if it still sore afterwards. Even after you're gaining mass and power, this rule still applies, otherwise you'll ended up as that guy on the video

If you can only lifted it once, or two max then your arm completely gave up, well that's the sign you're not there yet, and must start with a lighter dumbbell. Otherwise, keep lifting and don't do ego lifting. It's already cool to lift a dumbbell that your muscle can handle naturally without it giving up quickly
