I have an OCD problem and it dominates my life. OCD makes me angry and I feel helpless. I’m glad you have made a video about this topic because this is definitely something that is taking place in my life.

I appreciate you so much. I’m 16 and have struggled with intrusive thoughts ocd for years but have only been able to put a name to it for about 8 months. I can’t bring myself to tell anyone specific details yet because my thoughts embarrass and scare me & it’s not talked about a lot online either. It’s nice to hear someone talk about it openly and normally. Makes me feel less crazy lol🌈

Thanks for this. I get this too kind of at a meta level. I’ll see something that reminds me of my OCD fixation, for a brief moment think it’s weird, then get mad at my brain and say there’s something wrong with me for seeing “signs” in everything. I don’t even really think they’re sign. I’m just worried that I think they’re signs, and that this means there’s something wrong with me beyond OCD. It’s just relieving to know that all of this is just another part of OCD and not something special.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm dealing with a relapse of my OCD right now and I keep thinking "I just want to go back to how I was two weeks ago, I was happy. I was happy two months ago. I was happy a year ago." And then, when I keep doubting and ruminating on my sexual intrusive thoughts. (Which is all I've been doing for the past week. I've barely eaten, I haven't done anthing but stare into a wall. I keep thinking that these thoughts, this time, is poof it's not OCD.) But then I try to switch that to think: "If you're scared of trusting the you of today, trust that you of two weeks ago. Trust that you of nine months ago. And if you can't trust the you of two months ago, trust the you of today."

I think of it like meeting a new person at school was for me back in high school. It felt as though before I had met the person, I may have not ever noticed them walking down the street. Yet, after meeting someone, it’s like I see them every where I turn all of a sudden. Same with our thoughts, as soon as we realize certain thoughts exist in our minds, especially when we have anxiety over them, every little thing becomes proof that those thoughts are “true” or “real”.

It seems my mind will search out and find some obsessive thought to torture me. My harm OCD causes me the most pain, but over the course of a life time there have been many obsessions from un-necessary checking to eating something gross. The knife example demonstrates turning an inanimate object into a scary obsession. It could be most anything from a hammer to a pillow etc. Recently I have been into trying "acceptance" of my thoughts and letting them float in and out my conscious. It sort of helps but depending on my depression for the day it can be very hard to stay the course of "Acceptance" Thought's?

Same. THATS MY BIGGEST PROBLEM. And it always sends me back into the same loop. Like when im not having my intrusiveness and etc its such a constant awareness of “oh your not having them right now” or “oh u went 2 minutes without them” My mind is always in that state of being aware of my ocd and i cant think of ever having a clear & calm mind of not thinking about it. It leaves such a constant feeling of dread.

That banana on your wall is distracting. Not because I have sexually intrusive thoughts, but it's just.... So out of place lol.... Like maybe if there was an orange or an apple in another frame somewhere visible or maybe it's just the position of the banana in the frame. Why do I feel like this is intentional, Chrissie...?
