In this video I share why I believe the new 2023 Dodge Challenger Demon 170 values will fall significantly and not be real collectors cars despite what dealers told them.

Hello Brad: Thank you for this video. I personally fail to understand why any of you gentlemen are being criticized for enjoying the Dodge brand. I thought that only adults could purchase a vehicle. Nobody forced anyone to pay over sticker so the buyer made an adult decision. If the buyer overpaid that's on them & no one else. Great channel Brad. TMP from N.J.

Omg man love you're content! I feel you do an amazing job along with Uncle Tony's Garage. Been a Mopar Guy my whole life and I'll tell ya it's sad to see how quality and just the way these cars are engineered so you cant work on them withouta specialized tool or equipment. "Come to the dealer! We will help you!" Yeah right. This concept tho is not just with cars. It's everything. We live in a throw away world. I myself am old school and would prefer a 1970 challenger over that Demon 170. And nothing beats the original Mopar Blocks in my opinion. Once you hear a 426 Hemi or Wedge, or a 413 Max Wedge or even a 340, 383, 400, hell a 318... any of them, you don't get that THUNDER out of these new cars. Beautiful bodies on some of these cars bit to work on them would be a nightmare that would wrench the soul out of the body haha! Thank you again for the fabulous content tho and I'll be tuning in to see more! 😃 ❤️

I’ve been enjoying my Demon 170. But I bought mine to drive and enjoy, with the expectation of it losing value. I wasn’t aware people bought these as investments especially when they paid these massive dealer mark ups. I will say I am new to these KZfaq channels and agree with your sentiments. I am looking forward to your video discussing the sale of your demon 170 (if this is true) as you appear to be fully transparent on all your other videos.

Demon 170s are going to end up either in junkyards after an unfortunate out of warranty 1/4 mile, or being unsellable zero mile white elephants. Either because the owner thinks they're worth $500,000, or they were stored improperly, rotted and need extensive restoration. Today it's in the position of being the only Dodge that won't get curb stomped by a Tesla Model S Plaid in a quarter mile. In ten years everyone is going to have a 9-second quarter mile car in their lineups.

Very good point about questionable future values. The limited production ZR1 C4 Corvette came out in 1990 at around $59,000, almost double the price of the regular Vette, but thought to have great investment potential. Adjusted for inflation that's over $130,000 today. However average retail for one now after 34 years is about $25k.

@@johnmcmullen456 Limited production is kind of a joke with modern Hemis. Dodge has been cranking them out like party favors for fifteen years. I'm not positive, but the 3,300 Demon 170s alone may be more than the entire number of Hemi equipped Dodge and Plymouth cars from '66-'71.

I miss the days that when there was an issue with your vehicle and you didn’t know exactly how to fix it. You’d go down to a shop and buy the book for your specific vehicle and look up how to repair it. Today, I wish I still had my old 92 Dodge Ram. I worked on that truck myself. It wasn’t until the computer died and didn’t have the money to replace it that I had to get rid of it. That truck was 6 years old when I bought it and the odometer never worked. I paid $1200 for it and drove that thing for 5 years till it died.

If I do in the future, I will build it up and have fun adding power to the 5.7. I have not had it long enough to have any issues with it, and I hope it stays that way. Mine has most of the upgrades you can get, but I'm glad I got the 6 speed manual as it does add to the fun factor. The only thing I still may want to add is the Shaker. 😁😁

I wanted to point out a few things in your video to add. The first year for the E body was 1970 which was the first year for the Challenger and the first year for the new model Barracuda/’Cuda. The Barracuda started from a Valiant in 1964 and change a little each year until the pinnacle years of the E body. The first year 1970 Challenger was what the 2008-2014 Challenger was modeled after and the slightly changed 1971 was what the 2015-2023 Challenger was modeled after. The 70-71 are the most sought after due to the 426Hemi and 440 6 pack/barrel versions which were lower production than 3300. These will bring the most money in any type of sale even if not original most of the time. These were low production throughout the E body era of 70-74 no matter what the variant and were driven mostly but some were raced meaning some were wrecked and never seen again lower the amount left. You said it best OC Motivator, you could work on these and with normal everyday tools. These cars were really not any more expensive than other model cars and people didn’t pay mark ups, if anything they paid sticker or below sticker. The E body became popular because people wanted to relive their youth and said…I always wanted a 70 Challenger 440 6 pack or 1 71 hemi ‘Cuda, then supply and demand kicked in. You will even see clones of the sought after models bring some descent money as there are only so many originals left and were even produced to start with. Very few with super low miles unless they were drag cars or someone left it in the barn/garage for various reasons but not necessarily as a investment, more like can’t drive it now, too expensive to drive, etc.. I have been a Mopar fanatic and owner since my first car, a 74 ‘Cuda I bought at 15 in 1984. I have owned other brands along the way but have not left the Mopar family and currently have a stable full of Mopar only brand vehicles. I think that the Demon 170 was super awesome when it was being teased and first introduced even though the Demon was never to be made again but thought about getting rid of my Hellcat to get one. Then the dealers did there BS of ADM and lying saying it was an investment which started the tainting of the historic car. Then issues stared popping up, then another, then another. The last call series of Mopar branded vehicles have been tainted due to the issues brought out by poor quality and dealer ADM, and possibly false information across the board on various models. Did your financial adviser tell you that this was a good investment like a stock potential…thought so. If you want this to be an investment, look at how long it took for the 70 E bodies to become big money makers it was close to 20+ years before they really started to shine as big money cars. Maybe in 20 more years there will be some that want a 2023 demon 170 but 3300 of them might not bring the money like the 70 era E bodies did, there wasn’t that many of the higher end engine option made and or survived…supply and demand. There is almost always never a get rich quick scheme and if you are lucky to find one, you better be really quick.

I remember in 2006 to about 2009 when Dodge dropped those colorful Daytons and SRTs lots of people truly believed those cars would be worth so much more today. Great car legends are built on a legacy of consistent achievements over their initial warranty period. Whether that be drag racing or canyon running, or whatever. They just need to be iconic and productive. These Dodge vehicles are consistently unreliable to the extent that it’s amazing they make it down the road to Ralph’s and back without losing trim or blowing an engine. What a waste of the development engineering cycle.

Why do you keep saying you lost money on your Swinger? If it was purchased as transportation with the knowledge that it would depreciate as soon as you pulled off the lot, wouldn't it just be another car payment? If it's being paid for by KZfaq revenue and features as content couldnt it be written off as a business expense? I understand a regular person purchasing a last call car, then later having a financial hardship, having to sell the vehicle because the payment was too much to bear, the car owed more than it was worth being a financial loss. But if you're just buying the car, driving it and then a year later its depreciated as expected if the car was purchased at or below msrp, why is it any more of a loss than expected? Is your youtube model to buy the car, drive it a year, then sell it? I'm confused by people stating they lost their ass on a $50k car a year into payments.

Now, he is extemely critical of all the Dodge dealers who beat him at this own game with thier mark-ups in 2023. Put another way, it was entirely OK for him to make money off car buyers, but not the dealers. By the way OCMOTIVATOR, who much did you make on the Demon 170 you bought for only sticker and then flipped? You flipped it right? Most of the biggest opportunities are viewed as trash by the majority. A 1970 Challenger RT with 6k miles sold at Mecum in October for $502,000. A dollar in 1970 would be about twelve dollars today, for reference but this cars MSRP was around $3K. That is a 167x return. If the same happened to a Demon170 (which is more spectacular in terms of records, achievements, etc. .) that has a $120k sticker, it would be $20,040,000. 54 years is a long time but it would still appreciate along the way and if even short of this, a massive return. Big returns don't come to those who want to double or triple their money. They come to those that want at least 10x and have the for foresight and patience to see what most don't. The latest Mecum sold 6 Demon 170s at an average sale price of $178k, more than 150% of MSRP in the very year they were delivered - with ample supply and being trash talked far and wide. That's already a record for returns in spite of the publicity. Then again, there has never been a car like it and probably never will be.

The irony will be when the Pentastar SXTs become the collector's item in 50 years because no one cared enough to keep them around. The thing about Hemi Challengers is they were incredibly rare, even when they were new. Dodge only made 427 over two model years. By comparison they cranked out 3,300 Demon 170s.

@@hellomeatrobotsgood point. and not only that but most of those 3300 demon 170 are being put in garages and never driven to keep the mileage down and in mint condition so hopefully to increase in value in the future.. So in 30-40 years there will be almost 3300 demon 170 in mint condition with low miles all competing for the big bucks. back in the 60s any muscle car was driven and street race and drag race and abused. Nobody thought these cars would be worth Megabucks 40/50 years later. And that's why it's rare to find a 60s muscle car with low mileage and not abused. And not to be a buzzkill but I'm worried that with this ev proliferation we might not even have gas cars anymore or gas stations to drive these demon 170s are any gasoline car which is a disturbing thought

Also Brad back in the 60s and 70s these cars were not plentiful which makes them rare today, these 170s are everywhere now, if half off them disappeared off the road today maybe the prices may go up. Now with the stigma with the engine issues will stick for years to come

Part of the problem is all these auction houses you see these old hemi cars going for a couple hundred thousand up to 1 million so that’s why these guys are betting on where they got it from and then Dodge told him they would

The brakes on the supra aren't bad. It has an electric parking brake on a caliper. You can manually unscrew it and the rest is a standard brake job.

Besides the 'quality issues' FOMO and greed is the real issue here because as already been said everybody paid the future value to Dodge so aint nobody gonna get rich like they all thought.

Its memories of the past. The new cars will never have value because they do not drive them. There are no stories, no young people driving the to school. And there are just too damn few of them.

EVs are not only inefficient, they are dangerous. Perhaps that's one reason why owners are dumpling their beloved EV and returning to gasoline and diesel vehicles.

OCMotivator, even Subaru makes engineering mistakes now and then. Take the 2.5-liter boxer engine Subaru has been making for many years. The TCV was made to replace a simple thermostat, they decided to copy the famous German brands. MrSubaru1387 says Subaru admitted their mistake and will cover repairs if it fails for 15 years or 150,000 miles. Dodge will never do that with the Demon170. It also helps that Toyota owns 30% of Subaru. Maybe a Japanese car company could buy Dodge for pennies on the dollar and save the brand? Probably not 😞

None if these cars will EVER be classics. Nothing domestic from like the late 80s on will be. They just have too cheap of construction, and as they get newer too much computer tech that dates them and will be completely unserviceable in a few decades
