I think they fought a couple of times in some comics, usually to a stalemate since neither could really get the upper hand on the other. Even Yoda himself wasn't sure who'd come out on top if they fought.

I agree with this wholely. Dooku flirted with the lines of the Grey jedi and sith. He thought he was fighting on the correct side (separatists) because he could create order in the galaxy if his side won. The ironic part is that he indeed was on the side the jedi should have sided with.

It depends if it is in Dooku’s prime( A few years before AOTC) or ROTS when he was old and tired.

But even a Prime Dooku in the light side, I'm still going to give it to Windu. From what I recall, when they did fight and Dooku won, Windu was still young (and younger than Dooku) and far from his prime.

@@ceejay1353 My understanding (albeit rather poor) is that Vaapd works best when the user acts like a conduit channelling the power and aggression of the Dark side wielder through and back at them. So a superlative swordsman who happened to use Dark side abilities to enhance their power (more like Dooku) would be in a better position against Mace than a someone who was also brilliant swordsman but who placed considerably more emphasis on the raw power of the dark side of the force (like Sidious). This is because there is more power available from the Dark sider to use against them. So Mace was always likely to defeat Sidious but Dooku would be different. His age makes a difference but not only because his prowess with the sabre has waned, but also (I suspect) he would need to compensate for that loss of ability with greater use of dark side power. As such, a theoretical fight, earlier in Dooku's life after he turned would have been harder for Mace to win than one later on.

@@Daniel-mz5ek In short, I agree with you. I think Windu still wins but it would probably be his hardest dark side user fight because of what you said. But Also, I think people kind of limit Windu to only being good with Vaapad and that being the only edge he has. I'm not saying that you say this to be clear. But if he was effectively the third greatest Swordsman when he was younger and less experienced than Dooku and Dooku would've been in his light side prime, I think it's fair to give Windu the Edge here.

In Legends Plagueis saw Dooku as sith lord material due to his super high potential Yoda thinking Dookus potent with the force was enigmatic for even himself to comprehend which is one of the reasons Yoda took Dooku as his apprentice that and Dooku was already a natural with the blade and with the force to the point of the latter where his first experience of combat was based on force powers such as force shields, force barriers, telekinesis, force speed, force reflexes, and force senses all in one to the point that as a nine year old Initiate he easily won force battle sparring matches and was so good and powerful that he was the only student Yoda did not let win and put even little effort into beating and as we know Dooku got even better as he grew older at force combat, knowledge, mastery, raw power, etc as a Jedi Master before, during, and for a long time after The Phantom Menace Era Dooku was considered the strongest student, the most learned in the ways of the force, and the orders greatest failure the latter due to his resignation implying that his potential was the third highest in the order in the prequel Era only behind Yoda And Anakin while Mace would be the fourth highest potentialed individual around those times and Yaddle the fifth and Plo Koon the sixth yeah.

He already knew about Vaapad from TPM Era in Legends as saber duelists around that time Yoda, Dooku, And Mace were equals and then there skills grew from there yeah.

@@matthewmann8969 Mace and Sora may have invented Vaapad and demonstrated to various Jedi including Master Dooku but they had yet to perfect. Finally, the version of Vaapad that Sora used against Sith Lord Dooku was closer to Juyo than the complete Vaapad that Mace used on Darth Sidious in ROTS.

Dooku believed wielding more than one Saber was a cheap trick and not reflective of skill. Pretty sure Dooku felt Grievous and Ventress wouldn't be as successful without multiple blades going up against Knights and Masters.

Also dooku developed a fondness throughout the clone wars of anakin and subsequently he’s apprentice. Dooku witnessed first hand the effectiveness of jarkai, though he disapproved of it he couldn’t knock it. Also, I’m sure he would have developed an understanding and appreciation for other combat forms in his time as one of the best saber instructors at the jedi temple, having realized that everyone has a particular stance that’s perfect for them.

He had two, Yoda and Cyslin Myr. I’m sure he developed Vaapad years after passing his trails though. And yes, I’m sure they both approved of him developing the form when you learn the story of why he created it. He and his apprentice Depa Billaba were the only true masters of Vaapad.

Mace also had three other highly skilled Jedi with him that Sidious had to deal with had it started out as just a pure one on one fight it would be way different yeah.

All kidding aside, making yourself better (a better person, a better fighter, a better defender/protector, a better healer, etc) would be in line with the Living Force as opposed to the dogma of the Jedi Council. There are elements of self-truth (because our "truths" are based on our own perceptions of the universe) in both the Jedi Code and the Sith Code.

Windu supposedly had a decent level of mastery in all 7 forms, though so did Dooku. They were both prodigies in the art of saber combat, so it'd be weird for them not to have a working knowledge of all forms, its just they both specialize in a particular form.

Yep, the Vaapad Form had flaws and led a lot of Jedi to the Dark Side. I think Mace would have been better off creating an entirely different and new form that would have been from a Light Side user's concept. To me it seemed that using Vaapad was dancing on the edge of a razor and it was just a matter of time or situation that would cause you to fall.

He seen Windu use Vaapad while he was still a Jedi even if it was not yet complete it was still superior to Bulqs application and Depas too yeah.

He seemed to respect Obi-Wan's mastery of Form 3, even to the point of admitting to himself that even he would have a tough time breaking Obi-Wan's defenses via lightsaber combat alone. Though this is an episode 3 Obi-Wan he respected.

Its less the aggression aspect and more the heavy strikes of 5 that he had a problem defending against (Well that and Anakin being an absolute beast physically) . 7 is kind of a mix of speed, strength and aggression, but not the raw power strikes of 5.

Isn't that the point? The AOTC is a mystery movie where we discover Dooku's gentleman manners are just a facade. It ends with Dooku and Sidious starting the war and scheming.

It actually was gonna happen in Clone Wars. The dissappeared act where JarJar and Mace windu were finding the Queen. It was meant to be Dooku vs Mace, but they ended up going with Mother Talzin.

@@watsupdoc Yeah, also could’ve happened in The Son Of Dathomir arc if it was finished, when Obi-Wan and Mace Windu fought Count Dooku and Darth Maul. But in the pages of the comic Windu fights Maul instead, then he gets cheap shotted by a Mando rocket so the Sith can escape. But the only time their blades really clashed was in the”Legends Republic Comics”. There was no true winner though and Dooku had his Manga-Guards step in to distract Windu, for him to escape. Which leads me to believe Mace had the advantage in the fight and would’ve won.

Legends Windu is fodder, the fight would be more fair in Canon.

I think we are missing a couple factors that would determine who would win: 1. Preparation: If Dooku had a chance to prepare to determine the time and place of the duel, I believe Dooku would win. In a straight up, random location with preparation, then Windu wins. 2. Location: selecting a location that would benefit one fighter over the other would probably be a determining factor. 3. Age: a younger Dooku would probably win as he was much more "righteous" as opposed to Dark Side at that point in his life. It seems that Vaapad allows the user to "channel" their opponent's Dark Side and rage through and back at the opponent, like a mirror reflecting back. If there wasn't any Dark Side or rage to feed Vaapad, how effective would it be? Now how effective would Form 2 be against Vaapad in this situation? I don't know, but I think a very good Form 6 user fighting with no Dark Side or Rage would do better against Vaapad. Why I believe this is because without Dark Side or Rage to feed the Vaapad user, and along with the constant quick changes of style that a Form 6 user could bring to the duel, this would confound the Vaapad user, leading to their defeat.

He was indeed but I believe what Christopher is saying is that he gave himself to the dark side but not wholly as he never gained sith eyes. Granted you are right the dark side isn’t just the dark force abilities but the emotions that comprise them like force lightning requires rage and fury. He may be doing so with grace but he’s still using the dark side and vaapad was created to tame dark thoughts and emotions mace hoped this would help him with his inner darkness then mastered it allowing him to turn others darkness against them it’s a direct counter to the dark side. Even dark side abilities that don’t use the force could be countered by true vaapad in my opinion. Such as dunmoc as it’s still malicious.

@@bombadillo6810 yeah for Christopher to claim Dooku was a Jedi using the dark side is just completely false though considering he was a full on Sith Lord Darth tyrantus and not just a dark Jedi or whatever word he wants to use. Even palpatine was able to mask his dark eyes and his entire dark nature and he was a dark side user from a very young age

No one had a better concealment of the dark side than palatine who was a Sith Lord while working with the Jedi for many many years and it worked agaisnt him so to say it wouldn’t work against Dooku is head cannon at best and just flawed logic otherwise
