This may be my favorite Ep. Ever.... The Doug, April, Hoovie dynamic is the best. The line from Doug "I'm surprised that he would marry at all" says, to me, that Tyler often turns to Doug in tense moments and gets not only good, but real advice from Doug and Daddy Doug doesn't let him down.

Funny thing about my marriage of 35 years, is we have other things in common but not driving. I needed to pull over multiple times when I was younger so my wife could vomit. I try to keep that down (some) now.
@user-sy1ed9ex5mАй бұрын
I mean, it's a plus, but the common passion is not always enough. Derek and Jessica might be an exemption.
@wills2140Ай бұрын
I can sympathize. On my honeymoon I drove too fast, too close to curb so much that I just had to pull over and let my wife drive. After 24 years, I can still keep admitting to her and everyone that she is the safer and technically "better driver". She has had one single accident in all those years, not totally her fault either - the car in front of us "stopped short" at a turn (but the insurance "totaled" a car I had driven like four times). Meanwhile ; I wrecked her lovely 2002 Ford F 150 XLT SuperCab (the rear "half doors" always had repair issues, but our dog really could only ride back there) "Flare side" with the nice 4.6 L "Triton" V8 engine (averaged decent enough fuel economy in nixed driving) a truck that cost us little, had low maintenance costs, and my wife really really liked (my bad, I damaged one of the rear windows... before I was driving too fast in the rain on "snow tires" around a treacherous bend in the highway. Also somewhat damaged the guy driving in his first "nearly new" Mazda. I almost hit the right lane guardrail, before going all the way across the interstate to plow into the concrete mid road divider at around 40 mph. Still my worst accident, and it broke my wife's heart - but I was intact). And my now 5 year old Kia Soul looks like a "beater", because I have been "sideswiped" three times while legally merging to the left lane. After 24 years of being together I can admit that I am not as good a driver - tho she has never had any injuries while I was driving her. Tho she does like keeping up with "car news" and has a small interest in automobiles in general (but does not drool over Ferraris like I can sometimes ("Daytona", 512bb, 360, etc.), she likes the original Ferrari Maranello (the one without the hood scoop, not quite the latter 550). Married life is a trip, man '(;

First time I've heard Doug not standing behind a car. Smart, commonsensical, earnest, forthright, humorous, insightful, loyal...truly interesting to hear talk and an incredible interviewer, himself; asks exactly the right questions and follows up. April was her usual joyful self and engaged but careful to never really drop her guard. Tyler was definitely uncomfortable and mostly close-lipped lest he say and reveal the wrong things. His usual wit was missing. He's not afraid of looking like an idiot but doesn't want to be confused with an actual idiot. He was fated to be the straight man, here, regardless. Doug was right. This was great content. Doug is Jerry Seinfeld while Hoovie is (usually) Jim Carrey.
