A pot of gold or a pot of honey? Many would choose the gold until they find out how much this honey is really worth. Elvish Honey costs 400x more than Mānuka honey. Why is it so expensive? Let’s talk about that.

You said that honey is produced by bumblebees. Actually, it’s the honey bee.
@IbrahimAli-sx5lq3 жыл бұрын
I noticed that as well. Bumblebees are larger, have more body hairs; are colored with yellow, orange and black; have darker wings; typically make their nest underground; capable of stinging multiple times; have smaller colonies (in the hundreds); cannot produce surplus honey unlike the honey bee - beekeepers call the bees 'honey bees' for a reason.
@kevinhorstmann14353 жыл бұрын
Bumblebees cant even create honey.
@garys_gary8493 жыл бұрын
@@kevinhorstmann1435 They actually can, but most people don’t know that. This is mostly caused by the fact that they just don’t produce as much honey. Because of that, the honey bee is credited for being the only honey maker because they just happen to make more than other species of bees.

The price difference is based on the rarity of the honey. If the saricayir honey is similar enough to the elvish honey, then they may be considered the same and the elvish honey's price could drop. It depends on if the fact its made in a cave affects the honey in a notable way.

Many inaccuracies here. Honey is not made by bumblebees. Only honey bees make honey. They don't breakdown the nectar into simple sugars...they add some enzymes and concentrate the nectar by evaporating water. They don't only use honey in winter, it's used as the energy source for workers and drones year round. Their other food is bee bread which is made from pollen. It has protein and is fed to developing larvae and some is consumed by workers and drones.

The only reason the price is so high is the cost of harvesting it and the exclusivity of it coming from wild honey bees. The local beekeepers could probably get more money from their honey if they could prove the high mineral content, which would envolve sending samples to labs for testing and that is quite expensive.
@stevethea5250 Жыл бұрын
with testing available why is anybody even payinh 50 grand for a kilo of untested honey lol

It is not a swarm, it is a colony. A swarm is when the bees split the colony in half and make two colonies. A colony is a group of bees with a queen bee

This video sheds light on how it should be impossible that Costco sells their "all natural honey" for $9.99 for a full liter of honey (labeled as 3 pounds). There is NO WAY they can sell it this cheap and not adulterate it. They even claim it is sourced from USA beekeepers. At $3.33 a pound any honey operation would be losing money at this rate per pound....never mind at the quantity levels that Costco would be buying
@ispy7089 Жыл бұрын
At that price the beekeepers are scientists and production is a 100% artificial, not a bee nor beehive in sight. Lab coats and beakers only.
@zeusdarkgod77276 ай бұрын
I'm lucky to live in an area with a decent amount of beekeepers around so I get pretty good prices for honey. Pay around 20-35 dollars for a mason jar, and the taste is off the charts compared to store bought. Higley recommend seeking out a local beekeeper if you don't already. Added benefit is your local honey may help you with allergies, even store bought natural honey won't do that as it's not made from your local polin.

I have some black honey. The taste is similar to molasses but much sweeter. The guy I got it from found some abandoned hives north of Tatum NM. He had this looked at by some NM State Univ. bee people. They had never seen anything like it. I bought 16 quarts of it. The bee keeper keeps the hives up there but has never been able to duplicate the color and taste since. I have 4 quarts left and am keeping them un-opened. Maybe they will be worth $50K someday.

Look into the blue honey from France, they found out the bees were eating trash from a M&M factory, it was the food coloring that made it blue. Perhaps something similar is happening to make it black?

@@Fouxdufafafafafa It's a vast exaggeration and maybe a joke about the poor state of much food in America, if you can even call it _food._ Take one can of Organic Corn, and compare it to the cheapest can of Non Organic Corn that you can find.
@101Volts3 жыл бұрын
@@lemon_the_spider That's not entirely true; numerous states in North America _do_ sell Raw Unhomogenized Cow's Milk, I was drinking it in 2012 - 2013. I even made Yogurt with it once. It's just that _most_ Cow's Milk is pasteurized here. If you want it Raw and from a store (which seems to usually be a specialty store,) it's going to cost a lot more. It's probably cheaper to buy it straight from the farm, as I was buying it; I was getting it for $1 per quart there at the time. However, that was at _that_ farm, and they stopped selling it since then.
