I remember when this film came out and how I thought to myself, THIS prince is the first one that really feels alive, like an actual person. Most Disney princes feel rather like tools in the plot than like real characters. Aladdin was a good start, but he was way too goody good, way too ashamed of himself and way too fast smitten by Jasmine and made her his goal instantly. When Flynn says, "I found a new dream and it's you" it feels earned and genuine. He goes all the way from selfish to self sacrifice - that's what makes the viewer care.

One thing I wanna add to the whole, not them getting married right away thing is it’s an ongoing thing in the show too. They do a great job at developing their relationship and it’s almost comical how many times their proposals get messed up, like they each try proposing a few times and something always goes wrong lmao

The thing is unlke some princess such as prince charming(first movie),the prince from snow white and even prince Eric who essentually hears a girl sing and goes "yup that's my wife" Where as Eugene is his own person with alot of personality,he's charming,clever,kind and witty and he never loses that which is pretty good and on top of that the sacrifice he made at the end to save her knowing he'd lkely draw his last breath after not knowing her for much time shows his quality of character.He's just a great guy overall

Eugene truly is the best of all the Disney dudes! If I'm not mistaken, I believe that there is a scene in Tangled: The Series where he says that he didn't change FOR Rapunzel, but for himself and thanks to her. Because she was the first person who liked Eugene Fitzherbert better than Flynn Ryder, which gave him the courage to drop the act of Flynn and be his real self, Eugene. I think that moment makes both the character of Eugene and the relationship between the two even better and more likeable! I love that we don't just have the main character princess that we like and want her to get her happy ending with the dude she likes, but instead we have two characters that we like individually and want them to get their happy ending TOGETHER.

Zachary Levi did a great job playing this character! The charisma is in his voice is wonderful. I love Flynn!! He's just awesome! And like you said, he has more writing and arc than most of the Disney "love interests". Most of them are just there to save the lady, and get married immediately and happy ever after! But in tangled, the romance is more fleshed out and the build-up is excellent. We, as an audience, actually got to see how Flynn connected with Rapunzel and how their relationship grew and developed. And Flynn had more character than the other Disney dudes.

I do love Eugene and Naveen!!! Everyone talks about Eugene and I love him to death but you don't hear a lot of people talk about Naveen much anymore.

I think one thing I like a lot is that one of them doesn't magically fall in love with the other and they actually disliked each other at the begining which makes sense given the situation

Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure/Tangled: The Series did an amazing job of flushing out Eugene's character even more. Delving into why they didn't get married right away, and even more into his past. It helped cement him as my favorite male Disney character. Dethroning Aladdin.

Feels refreshing to finaly have a thief with heart of gold that has to use his charm to get out of trouble only to fall in love through a show to earn there trust make the best couple

Well, Simba is my all time favorite Disney prince, followed by Eric (I just think he's got a lot of character and is super wholesome AND...he has a dog...so there's that), but i think a prince that is severely underrated is, Prince Naveen from "the Princess and the Frog". He had a similar arc, or rather, Eugene had a similar arc to him in that the romance between him and his princess had time to develop and marinate, thus making it feel more natural, but also, Naveen was by NO MEANS a "princely" character. He was selfish, arrogant, and a bit chauvinistic. But, through the course of the movie, he becomes vulnerable and earns a bit of humility and appreciation which leads his character to really blossom. He wasn't nefarious like Flynn, but he was severely flawed and eventually grew to become the hero he always had the potential to become. Moreover, he didn't save the princess, they rescued each other...yet again, just like Eugene and Rapunzel. ❤

For me, Flynn rider the moment I watched a movie he captivated me in a way that was very different from what I normally see in Disney films. I normally get this type of feel in other companies productions like Pixar or if I’m watching a Bollywood movie but it’s in a cartoon form. I usually feel that connection with the males in other companies but when it came to him, he just gravitated to me he felt so special to me and dear to me. I, even tell my partner that he reminds me of Flynn Rider. Like he rescued me. He showed me the world in a different light than what I was perceiving it to be. So for me Flynn definitely has and always will have a very special place in my heart because of how my partner resembles him in a lot of ways. Especially his characteristics. ( Even within the series. ) Don’t get me wrong I love the movie in general. Rapunzel is one of my favorite princesses along with Moana. They are the princesses that I talk about all the time. I always hold those girls dear to my heart. Anything that has something to do with them whether it’s a blanket, doll, ect, I have to have it because I generally love those two girls with everything that I have.

I am starting to see a similarity between Eugene and the beast. Sure, they both have different personalities, but they both are in the beginning, self-centered, and the both of them had to learn to become better people. And spending time with their girlfriends have softened them up and helped them become more kind, considerate and selfless and they started thinking about their girlfriends needs and not just themselves.

"The Adventures of Flynn Rider" was a huge missed opportunity by Disney imo.

I love Eugene too. He is all what you that and I realized some of those things only now which makes me appreciate him even more. He ia also very funny. He doesnt have a bad scene. The joke that they dont get his nose right. Normally returning jokes are not that good but I laugh every time. Also He looks very good. Thats a point too.

6:20 or so you talk about how they "likely went on to date for a while" and that's actually a very important plot point in the series. Eugene proposes to Rapunzel like 3 times and gets rejected every time until literally the end of the show, which takes 2-3 years. He grows to understand that she needs to be her own person for a while. It's actually quite wholesome :)

Man tangeled was always my favorite disney princess movie and I watched it hundred of times and this dude was one of the reasons this one is my favorite Like the dude actually has some relavance to the story he isn't the usual prince that is only needed for the kiss or to pick up the shoe and find his princess He is an ordinary person who gets actual and visible character development which is remarkebly done given the short time of 2 1/2 hours. Something Austric couldn't get done in almost a decade😂😂😂 Don't ask me why I compared this movie to mlb I've started to watch the show after 4 yrs again and it just seemed to fit or maybe I just have a broken sense of humor however I love how much story and character progression into so short time without anything feeling too rushed, forced or boring Or perhaps I just love the movie too much idk but it's a masterpiece anyway

I agree. Eugene is the best. Second would be Maui if you minus the love interest part. Moana & Maui’s healthy friendship is refreshing as well. Both don’t need to fall in love & both can respect each other. They’re the backbone of the entire film & why Moana is so good. In terms of character duos Tangled & Moana have the best in the whole of Disney with main characters.

FUN FACT: The actor, Zachary Levi only did the role Flynn/Eugene for Tangled just in case that movie got added to the game franchise Kingdom Hearts as a world. He is a Kingdom Hearts fan! FUN FACT 2: The actress for Repunzel, Mandy Moore, was also asked to join Kingdom Hearts for the Tangled world but she didn't. Its extra weird since in 2002 Mandy played Aerith (Final Fantasy 7) in the first Kingdom Hearts game. She did not reprise the role for the following games.

For me Kristoff from Frozen is the best dude by disney. I like how he questions how anna wants to get married without any real proof Hans is eavan a good guy. I like how they start as friends with Anna and slowly start to show love for each other. He's also very loyal for Annas needs, and is willing to give her up as she thinks Hans us in love with her and her true soulmate. I also like how they balance eachoter couse Anna is very dramatic and fearless and Kristoff calm and careful. They also don't rush to marringe, and they get engaged after being together for about 2-3 years. Edit: And he has also backstory how it was only him and sven before thay met the trolls and started to live with them.

My ultimate best boi too . I have a MLB theory for your upcoming videos... One major theory of mine is that Marinette is the reincarnated form of Sabine, who is a past Ladybug holder. Many people have hinted at Sabine being the past Ladybug, but the reason that theory didn't make sense was because miraculouses had not been handed out for several decades. Possibly because of time travel this all happened? Who knows, maybe the sentimonster theory and Adrien and Kagami are somehow linked with Marinette? Tom is her real father because Tom grounds her in Simon Says. If you rewatch the episode, Sabine didn't speak. It was like she knew, and didn't want Tom to punish her daughter. Sabine has never dealt strictly with Marinette and even Tom only once, even he's very friendly. Maybe because Sabine lets her daughter off the hook a lot? There is also a theory of mine that both Adrien and Marinette are reincarnations of Scarlet Fate and Dark Grimalkin (check episode Reunion) who are now living a modern day love story, reversed from what it originally was as originally they were enemies each fighting for their own countries. What do you think? Since the show is magical and heavily involves time travel, maybe there's a specific reason for certain reincarnations or past characters being brought back into the present? I don't think its just bias though, Flynn is a masterclass. Tangled isn't particularly special to me (I like it, its a great movie, for the record) but even then I still think Flynn is the best.

He was so good in the movie but the series Completely ruined him. They reduced him to the dumb boyfriend side character in favor of cassandra and gave all the development and emotional scenes to rapunzel and cassandra when in the movie it was about rapunzel and flynn and they were completely equal and equally developed. In the series flynn is completely sidelined and the trauma he should have is never mentioned. Instead it’s all about cassandra. It’s because of frozen, they gave rapunzel a sister and focused only on the sister relationship while dumping down the boyfriend. I really hate that, flynn deserves better! I also think they ruined rapunzel and Flynn’s relationship. Rapunzel not only always takes him for granted, she also lets cassandra constantly insult him and says nothing, keeps secrets from him in the first episode and rejects his proposals even though she was willing to give up her entire freedom and basically her entire life just for him in the movie. And now your telling me she would let another person constantly insult him, lie to him, take him for granted and even reject him? Are you kidding me??? This seems so out of character for rapunzel. I could believe it if she wasn’t willing to give up her life for him in the movie but she was! Like that it seems just out of character. And it’s also completely unrealistic for the time period they live in to reject a proposal and then still be together. Back then you could only be together if you were engaged or married, that’s why all the princesses marry so early, it’s just fitting for the time period and I hate it when people criticize the other princesses for marrying so early when that’s only how things worked back then, you had to be married or engaged other else you couldn’t be together. And I hate it that she rejected his proposal and then was allowed to still date him in the series that’s not realistic for the time period. If you want a modern relationship you should let it take place in today’s time not the 18th century! And if the writers didn’t want her to be married yet they should have just let them be engaged at least. I hate how they portrayed marriage as a prison for rapunzel even though she loves him. Marriage only means you can’t break up with this person anymore and if she really loved him she wouldn’t consider a life with him as a prison. I mean this is the person for whom she was willing to give up her entire life! I just don’t get it! And I also don’t think flynn would even propose in front of so many people, in the movie he valued private moments like in the lantern scene or the kingdom dance scene. It just seemed out of character for him just like all the other moments in the series with him where he was just stupid or arrogant even though he seemed rather smart in the movie and his arrogance just seemed like an act. I mean he took the Identity of the flynn rider book character and I always assumed it was just the character who was arrogant and dated many girls and that flynn just acted like him but was different on the inside. In the series they made it look like that was his real personality, not just an act and I hate that. Why can’t the writers look deeper??? And why did they have to give him an ex girlfriend and imply he was a player before??? That ruins the romantic relationship because in real life players can’t settle down with just one girl, they will cheat and break up. And they basically imply that flynn is such a guy in the series. And don’t tell me players can chane, I know someone who has experiences with that and knows that players can’t settle down for good! They completely destroyed the romance by implying Flynn was such a guy before and they destroyed the relationship by having Rapunzel only care about her bff and not the person she supposedly loves and for whom she was willing to sacrifice herself. Ugh, I hate the series!
