Even if the “soft box” sellers are a small proportion of the market, the fact that consumers cannot discern soft vs. untouched boxes on the open market creates a ton of confusion. Players that don’t know the situation just see the prices tanking and assume “dead game.” I would hope they abandon guaranteed CSRs per case going forward

Doesn't weiss schwarz have this problem as well? Stores are well known to crack boxes in a case to get the signed card and sell the rest of the boxes.

@@RobCastov it's even worse in Weiss because there is 1 and only 1 guaranteed chase card. So the other boxes aren't just soft, they are dead boxes.

Finally having supply at our LGS was a huge boon. We had the largest showing for the game for FTC release tournament and we expect to have similar numbers for our first constructed tournament this weekend now that everyone can finally get cards at a reasonable price.

Currently there is so much corruption in the hobby that I've had to step back. Being an unregulated market, people can say and basically do whatever they want with very little repercussions.

I believe that the price drop was due to one to two people trying to dump their cases to get rid of it and doesn't represent the product market value as a whole. you can see that the low prices only occurred on labor-day weekend and labor day. after that the price is stabilizing to where DOA alter is at. I believe that this product is still a very solid to purchase and open for singles.

Only transformers TCG got it right: 0 1 or 2 Super rares per box. That was really smart

The price rebound is encouraging. If this truly is a single print run set, they may find themselves having to go back for a 2nd print run if the game continues to pick up new players at a healthy pace.

I suspect it will be more damage to the game if the devs go back on that promise. I also don’t think they need to reprint this smallish set in the future anyways.

I don’t understand tcg creators. Each box should be random and independent from other boxes in the same case. You should be able to pull 18 CSR from 18 boxes however small the chance might be.

If it was actual true randomness like you are suggesting, there would be the chance to open boxes with nothing but bulk way more often. Distribution of "rare" cards shouldnt be mapped, i agree with that, but there needs to be a bit of structure so that when someone buys a box of cards, they get some extra expected value back.

ToA was highly predictable. I open 6 cases. It was 1 legendary per case. Don’t buy random boxes from randoms online. Dead boxes lmao

I wonder if things like the UR's in the set being not so meta relevant also made a difference. Things like the spirits and the new divine relic being pretty low tier for the most part not having an impact. Theres nothing to insane to chase except the CSR's so when people pull them out the case dont to look forward much else thats high rarity and relevent.

I'm not chasing csrs so I'm fine with a soft box. I don't buy cases anyways.

@@lunalee1336 Yeah, I like to open 1-2 boxes for fun. More fun and more rewarding if you pull something good, compared to spend X amount of money for a guaranteed X amount of CSR.😀

Are you selling the upper end priced stuff ? If so it is most likely the same for everyone selling being it is cheaper to buy 24 pack box and get a bunch of stuff then buy a play set of one card in a new game like this:)

What I don't understand is that the cases themselves are selling for much less. A factory sealed case will still have a guaranteed CSR. If anything, this should logically make the price per box (possibly light) go down and the price per case go up (guaranteed not light).

The second factor is the supply. Your theory would only be good if demand is higher. But as of right now I can still order plenty of more cases at distribution, so all the stores are over supplied

Really not liking the guaranteed CSRs per case. I get appeasing ppl for those sought after high rarity cards, but those should be special prints of cards that are hardly obtainable, that way we can avoid this issue of "soft boxes" which just hurts anyone looking for value (not necessarily investment) from their purchase.

Please note MAP policy does NOT mean you can’t sell below MAP price. It means you can’t advertise below the MAP price. You can’t tell someone what they can sell the product at.

@@Fome I'm just saying it's perfectly fine to sell under MAP as long as it's not advertised. I'm also not assuming that all sales happen on TCGplayer. There are many LGS that sell on their own sites.

@@shinja1526 If you have your own website you can just do "see price in cart" and because the Cart is considered private for each customer, you can show it in the cart under MAP.
