Im confused as to why you would remove the MCB for the house and replace it for the switch fuse. If the fuse in the new switch fuse blows the neutral is still connected. Just add a main switch in the existing enclosure. The swa was terminated as it should be but now single insulated cables on show and looks awfull. Not sure how thats been improved to be fair

I have been contemplating doing this with my garage. One thing that I'd like clarification on... The garage gets pretty cold in winter and very hot in winter (it's got a metal roof with no insulation) - If I'm to put batteries in it (I like the idea of having them in the garage - does not use up valuable space in the house) do I need to build something akin to an ensuite room which is well insulated and the put the batteries inside the room? Thanks!

See, what I'd want to do first is actually to demolish my garage The people before me converted their garage into a utility room. I'm fairly certain they did it without planning permission too because it doesn't look particularly suited for kitchen items Anyway, the idea is to demolish it, build a two storey thing instead, and THEN get more solar panels I've already got planning permission to add 8 more panels on my flat roof anyway. The plan is to reinforce my flat roof first. I think I should however be fine for a while :)

@@elslopez tbh, they're really expensive for what they are. I got a 16kWhr LG Resu Prime for my SolarEdge system, that was around £8.5k, the SE 10K battery is around £7k. Besides, if you were to do that I'd get the new SE Home Hub inverter. The LG doesn't work with the Home Hub (despite it working with the Home Hubs in other markets), so hence I had to have a Home Wave, shame I didn't find that key bit of info out until earlier this year - been waiting best part of 6 months with panels on the house waiting for the Home Hub inverter as I was told it would be compatible! Anyway, long winded answer, imo I'd get the LG battery, unless you really want the Home Hub inverter, if so, you're stuck with SE's own battery. SE's inverter product numbering & naming is a joke though, even their own staff are confused by it! I don't know anything about the Libby though, that wasn't an option when I was spec'ing my system up this time last year.

Roof top solar is a big thing in Australia........most systems are grid tied, no storage. Feed in tariffs started out at AUD 20c/kw/hr and then dropped a few years ago to 5c/kw/hr. Australia is mostly a sunny country, but most of the population (80%) live near the coast line, and that has not so sunny weather. 2 years ago, due to the glut of solar energy at the middle of the day, the national market operator changed the rules..........electricity networks are NO longer obliged to pay anyone feed in tariffs, at their discretion. So if your some clever dick, who has put 40 kw of panels on their sprawling home and shed........you get nothing. Storage is the only answer for lots of people to get some benefit from their solar.........and Lithium batteries were tested by our national testing center and the results are not good......on DAILY charge cycling, on typical daily needs, the Lithium batteries deteriorated in capacity 15 to 30% in the first 4 years, and were pretty much useless by 10. Tesla power wall was one of the worst performers.........BYD and LG did better..........BUT both LG and BYD are known for battery FIRES. Do not use cheap chinese PV inverters, use a quality brand like SMA,Fronius or for solar charge controllers, Victron.

Plastic cable ties to secure the cable wiring on the roof! No no no. They degrade and snap after a few years, more so outside! Also I'm annoyed and disappointed by the addition of a sneaky advert performed by yourself and inserted in this video half way through. It was dressed up/disguised as the break-down quote/costing for this job but that was just a cynical ruse and you disclosed no such details. Instead you went into a shameless sales patter, trying to flog unnecessary software to the susceptible, vulnerable and gormless. If you cannot work out a quote on paper and without the aid of 5 computers (WTF!) I would suggest that you are unsuitable for this business in the first place. I'd imagine you are actually fully capable of easily supplying a quote without the aid of any computers...... Soul for sale? Not me! I have now unsubscribed to this channel.
