Killing Maria is still an iconic video game moment imo. One of the most emotional scenes in any game ever and ill never forget how sucked into the plot I was the first time I played gears 2. Truly a great game.

Dom carried this weight with him to the end of his life, how can any men live with the truth of killing their wife, for many fans, this hit home and wanted revenge. On single player, you can't choose the path after the death of Dom's wife. Instead, Dom chooses the path for us. The original trilogy never forced these characters on us, but rather gave it to us slowly and building up the moment of meeting each character, the trilogy built up each character over the course of 3 games, always giving us fantastic moments, and not skimping out on anything, the developer's were thinking of players and what they wanted, not money or bs stuff, but rather giving the player a down to earth gaming experience with the original trilogy.

Such an incredible game. The entire premise of going on the offensive, basically an all out assault on Hell itself as you delve deeper and deeper is just done so well.

This game helped me make so many online friends, so many good memories of playing horde mode or just having some casual fun on multiplayer. Makes me want to go back to 2008 when life was fun to relieve those times

Gears of War 2 is probably my favorite Xbox 360 game. The perfect sequel. Awesome video man!

I think when Dom shoots Maria and Marcus hears it and stops, I always assumed he stopped to wait to see if their was a second shot, and there wasn't so he keeps walking. Such a great detail I don't know if it's intentional but I'm gonna assume it is because I think it's cooler that way lol

I was a little too young to understand some of the stuff that was going on in Gears 2 when it first came out, but revisiting it, damn, there are some bleak moments.

Im forever in debt to my high school bro who literally gave me the game of the year edition version of GEARS 2 simply because I hadn’t played the franchise yet and he couldn’t fathom me not experiencing it and boy was i missing out😂

the speech prescott makes in this game is something akin to Hitler calling for mass extermination but the way it is framed in the context of this story and world where it's literally humanity's extinction at stake against a threat just unwavering and as nonnegotiable as the locust and when you stop to think about it the COG really aren't the good guys in the grand scheme of things. This is what the early Gears of war games did so well was the morally grey aspects. none of the characters in the gears games where particularly good guys they were just soldiers doing their duty and everything they could to ensure humanity's survival. this is what the later games like Gears 4 and 5 utterly failed to grasp which is ironic considering that for Gears 4 the COG=bad was literally a major focus-point for the story but it was so heavy-handed and so on the nose it wasn't believable. then you've got Gears 5 with the MC of Kait which just missed the entire point of the gears story and franchise. Gears at it's core was a Brothers in arms story and that is something Gears 4 and 5 utterly lacked.

Me and my best friend actually just finished our let's play of this game and I can't wait until we start 3!!

I bought an OG Xbox because of Halo CE. I bought an Xbox 360 because of Gears. It's my 2nd fave franchise next to Halo.

Gears of war 1-3 campaigns were the best but gears of war 2 campaign will be my favorite. Especially when Prescott gives that speech in the beginning making the intro so awesome. Every video I see about gears of war and gears I always get nostalgia for gears of war 2 when I get on in and start that campaign, boyyy the beginning gives me that excitement and all the way to the end just noting but greatness. Even to this day when I watch the beginning when Prescott is giving the speech I get chills and excited because it’s like fuck yeah time to go to war and just gives you that energy in the game like your really fighting for a cause not like these other games now a days. Gears of war 2 is a iconic masterpiece period. Also personally as a gears fan I think the story should have ending at gears 3 a iconic ending. Gears judgement was okay for me, personally had nothing against it I liked the story and campaign but I really don’t like how they changed a few things or a lot depends lol. Gears 4 and 5 don’t have anything against it but honestly really wasn’t expecting it plus just felt different, don’t get me wrong the games look fireeee but just doesn’t feel the same lol. Honestly Idk what they were thinking when gears 4-5 came out. What I want to see is gears of war pendulum wars 😂 because from playing the franchise and going into the lore there’s a lot about it, yet doesn’t seem to mind and make a game about it. Imagine playing during the pendulum wars, going into the COG and UIR lore and battles all the way up to the beginning of emergence day. Sera and it’s people were raised on war 80 years fighting with the UIR if I’m not mistaken lol, I want to see that go into more lore of both and to the events of emergence day and what happened to everyone.

I don't think there is a bad Gears game. (Judgment is not a Gears game). People talk about the opening to The Last of Us as the most heartbreaking scene in a video game, but I say the scene with Dom and Maria is for me. Joel didn't have to shoot his daughter. Great acting as well.

I really enjoy the gears series I've played the whole series in coop with my cousin except for gears 4. For some reason whenever we try to play gears 4 we can never stay in each other's game for longer then a few minutes before one of us gets disconnected. It only happens with gears 4 and none of the other games in the series.

Would like to say Cliff Bleszinski and the rest of the Epic Games team can't figure out where to go after Gears 5, if you have seen the post on gaming news a few hours ago as I've posted this, anyway kind of want Gears Of War 2 & 3 on Steam as remasters with updated horde with Gears 5 fortifications plus you can choose and customise what Mini Boss enemies you want from wave 5, 15, 25, 35 & 45 also Main Big Bosses from each wave as 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 anyway I do like the story even if the story is set like a horror depressing & trauma of a type of game to describe as.

Gears of war 2 was special . Dark and bleak … not a lot of hope and the story adding in the processing they mention is done on humans from the locust … it seems they took a lot of WW1 and WW2 history and brutality of the nazis … it shows the darkness of war

Shame about the multiplayer, it was dismal.

Genuine question .. did you put many hours in GOW1? For me personally GOW2 was an overall disappointment, there were elements of the story that were good, but this is mainly coming from a multiplayer perspective. Day 1 the servers were wrecked for ages making the game unplayable On top of that the loss of horror and realism was a massive disappointment with the graphics and colour palette looking cartooney, with Cliffy B even stating they lost their identity as the series went on.

Too bad we'll likely never get a new gears of war game, instead we'll get gears of woke games.
