Why has no one mentioned anything about The White Stripes’ Little Songs? If you take a look at the band’s discography, there’s a trend that they kept going throughout their entire six-album run.
It started with “Little People” on their self-titled debut.
Then “Little Bird” on De Stijl.
White Blood Cells gave us “Little Room.”
There was “Little Acorns” on Elephant.
“Little Ghost” on Get Behind Me Satan.
And finally “Little Cream Soda” on Icky Thump.
With how calculated Jack White is when it comes to presentation, there’s just no chance that this was a coincidence. Of course it was intentional. And knowing that they would continue this trend, would the group have put some extra thought into what these “little” songs would represent over the course of their career? Most of them are far from the Stripes’ greatest hits, so is there anything that makes these songs more significant? Well, let’s take a closer look at The White Stripes’ Little Songs.

Jack said in a interview when Icky Thump came out that Little Cream Soda was untitled and Meg noticed that they didn't have a "little" song title yet and had a minor freak out about it. Jack said they just called the song "Little Cream Soda" because of the word. Elsewhere he said he noticed the "little" thing and thought it was a subconscious accident, and the only song that has any real meaning with the word would be "Little Room."

For me The White Stripes were one of the most creative bands ever, they were a duo, with a identity like the Ramones or AC/DC, their colors, formation, names, even the instruments! They revive the Delta Blues from legends like Son House, Robert Johnson and Blind Willie McTell, they play Garage, Punk, Country, Folk, Rock and Blues. All that in the early 2000's and become a mainstream band! That's something that with todays mainstream music seems almost impossible!

During this entire entertaining breakdown / interpretation the narrator never mentions Jack White's vocal aesthetic. It is absolutely everything, everything in regards to their immense success. Totally unique and existing in some weird divergent plane between baroque pop and art rock glam, it exudes a flamboyant style matching his visual persona and his melodic countenance. White could likely sing a label on a prescription bottle and make it sound interesting.

@smaug1234
@smaug1234 3 жыл бұрын
I only got to see them once live, my god they were epic, last show of the tour, Jacks voice was just about shot, the guy never held back one bit, every bit of energy was on that stage that night. The way they dressed the roadies like mobsters, the enthusiasm to how they approached just another night in a place where maybe not everyone got it. Jack gets so much credit for his playing and its deserved, but his strong point was always song writing imo, sometimes its more then a catchy riff or beat, sometimes its just that.

The white stripes deserve more people knowing who they are and not just the 3-5 songs that blew up for them. They were one of the only people to keep rock going through the rough years of it when no one was interested in this style of it. Today we have royal blood and greta van fleet who are now the ones holding it together. But I have much respect for Jack White and the White Stripes 👏

Haha there’s no question to answer. It’s just a click-baity video title/topic that meanders without giving much accurate information. I’m just here to let everyone know to be skeptical of any “facts” this channel presents to us. I don’t know nearly as much about some of the other artists covered here but I’d be willing to bet the hardcore fans are able to point out the inaccuracies in those videos as well.

@@ImLazarusMusic I mean I don't think this vid was clickbaity, it's a pretty niche topic to delve into that I was happy to hear someone besides myself talk about.

@@JakeHGuy I guess it’s just people’s different perception of information being presented. Since there wasn’t anything new to me in this video, and some of the passing information mentioned was inaccurate it felt like clickbait to me. Not to mention the fact that the title says “why have the white stripes never talked about this” and several people have mentioned in the comments that Jack has actually talked directly about it. It wouldn’t have even taken that much research to find out. So, the lack of research about the topic is also what makes me feel like it’s a hollow viewing experience.
