In all seriousness I love hearing the stories of you and your Grandmother. I lost my Mom in 2021 on Mother's Day and she was my biggest cheerleader and loved driving in my cars to go shopping. Especially in my 1985 Porsche 928. To this day I still have her listed on my PCA membership. This had me sobbing. Tears of joy and of sadness. I lost my mom 10 years ago and our bond was like you and your grandma's. When you lose the most important woman in your life, you view women and relationships differently. You seek a woman to not only be a romantic interest, but also to replace your lost loved one in a weird sort of way that's almost impossible to explain or understand unless you know. Hoovie, you found the one. She's very hard to find, but you pulled it off.

Love it Tyler! We still keep my grandpa’s Volvo 760Turbo he bought new in 1984. He passed away 1 year before your grandma at 96 yrs of age. He’s the one who got me interested in cars in the first place. We have a picture of me sitting on the hood of his Volvo 164 when I was like 2 yrs old and one with me behind the wheel by myself with the BIGGEST smile there is. Whenever I bought a new car, close to thirty ex now, one of the first drives was always a 1,5 hr drive to my grandpa to take him out for a spin in my new toy and we have an awesome picture from his last year with me in my 964 cabriolet. The drive was epic and of course I floored it in the first two gears with grandpa holding on to his sixpence😊❤

What a treasure! The car is beautiful, of course, but the relationship/memories with your Grandma are the real treasure. I think probably very few of us really have such a gift, and I'm glad that you are finally getting to a place in your life/psyche, that you can simply remember and appreciate those, with gratitude, rather than focus on the loss. Having April appreciate it as well, just doubles the blessing. Be well, Tyler.

That SL is such a special car. On its own, it is a wonderful car from the golden age of Mercedes (in my opinion). This one has such a special story and memories tied to it. Never let go of it, take care of the car, and drive it more. It is what your grandmother would have wanted, for you to enjoy the car and be happy. And it was so sweet of you to let April drive it. This was a very special video.

Loved this video. I also adored my grandmother and when my family went to Florida when I was 15, I stayed with my grandmother and drove her from CA to OK with my learners permit in her old 58 Buick roadmaster coupe. She died when I was 18, and in the Army. I got married three years later, and it was my mom who told me that I married a girl like my grandmother. You know what? I did. We are still together 51 years later, and I she still reminds me of my grandma. Nothing wrong with that, Tyler, nothing at all. It is about the personality and core of the woman. Best of luck to you.

My first car in 1985 was a hand me down all black 1966 Morris Mini Cooper 1275S. It was also my father’s first type of car in 1962. My brother found our mini and when he went to college,I was handed the keys…keys I wish I still had today as I HAVE never been able to duplicate the fun I had with that car ever. It became a rusty, non-runner by the late 90s and my dad sold it, which at the time we all supported but now regret. My dad is in his 80s now and my brother and I are looking to purchase back an original Mini S to hold onto, this time forever! Between us we have owned several dreams cars including: Mercedes’, BMWs, GTRs, Bentleys, Alfa Romeos, Z28s, Jags but still our heart is with that all black 1966 Mini Cooper S. Enjoy all the memories of a great car and amazing grand parent.

There is nothing compareable to the connection a man has with his first car. I got in an accident in my first car (1987 Supra) back at the end of 2021. Since then, it’s been a slow process getting it all fixed up. I don’t drive it much anymore since it’s still not finished, but whenever I do take it out for a drive, she fires right up like I just drove it yesterday. Sometimes I go 6 months without driving it. I saved the car from going to the junkyard when I originally bought it in high school. I restored it with my dad. It protected me in the crash, and I walked away without a scratch. In return, I once again, saved it from going to the junkyard. I have now had to “save the car” twice, but it also saved me in more ways than one. There were times I was battling depression, and one of the few things keeping me going was being able to take my Supra out for a drive. Right now she’s all fixed, but just needs repainted because a few body panels are mismatched colors. Sadly it has kinda been put on the back burner since I also bought a matching 1987 Porsche 944S.

That white SL is still my favorite part of Hoovies garage fleet. It was kinda sad watching it sitting for very long time. I still remember Hoovies old videos with talking Le Baron (Never gonna give you up dance in gray coat and later burying it in the ground...), cheap mini van, apollo 911 etc. But that white 500SL started his "car fever" and later "hooptie lifestyle" which led to his dream "job" I guess. So, big thank you to Tylers grandma for giving him that SL. Tyler, I think that April is your "personal cheerleader" now. I hope, that both of you will enjoy good old white SL in years to come.

Aww Ty. Beautiful clip with Grandma at the end. Sweet story and glad you've got the Merc back on the road. April is certainly a keeper. She knows what that car means to you and it is perfect trust and love insisting that she drives it. Keep the content coming!

The sentimental value and emotional connection attached to cars like this can never, ever be measured in monetary value! What a gorgeous car and a testament to the engineering of that period that it still holds up well today. And not to mention, I'm sure it was blessed by your grandma as well. Deciding to use it more is definitely the right thing to do, after all, that's what it was born to do!

If there's one thing I'm taking away from this video, it's that April is good for Tyler.

My grandfather died in 1997 and to this day I can't go near the cemetery he was buried at. It was across the street from a high school and I wouldn't let my kids go to that high school because then, 20 years after he died, i still can't go near that cemetery without breaking down.

Thank you, Tylor. Thanks for sharing that moment. Thank you April. Both of you, deserve each other (I mean that beautiful lady you are and that gorgeous piece of car (and Hoovies) history). Tylor is a good guy and great man! Cheers.
