You need no help Deldarel. Welcome to the cynical world. You were already here, now you see it. Being cynical is a natural, rational, observative, intelligent, empathic (at times) reaction to the real world as it is. If you feel you need help, I suggest daily affirmations. If that doesn't work, therapy. Me, I get happy by doing what those in both the medical field and psychological field is depressing... I drink myself stupid on a regular basis. Nothing is as depressing as having your brain working at 100% for more than 12 hours. It's easier to be happy when you reduce your ability to think. I don't suggest my path... I read a LOT. My path is really unhealthy. I will probably die by liver failure or suicide in forced rehab.... statistically speaking. Welcome to Earth.

Really solid example of embedded marketing for Gary and his Demons, really struck a balance between solid content from Wisecrack and raising awareness for the show. Hadn't heard of it and if it weren't so transparent I would have thought it was just a show I wasn't aware of in the zeitgeist. This is what embedded content is supposed to look like, good job!

Yeah I recently went to the US and was a bit bothered by how everyday conversation is constantly sarcastic. Like "Wow, you're so good at that" when you mess up something, "Working here is such a satisfying life experience" etc. It's not mean spirited or anything, actually quite fun in the moment to come up with quips about everything. Granted, I was with a lot of 20-30 year old people, but it does give you a feeling that no one can be earnest and direct because they are hopeless about life and their futures...

You're totally right. It even bothers Americans. I'm from California. Our communication patterns are basically crippled. Alan Foster Wallace called it the "crime" of naivete in the face of irony, i.e. if you respong to someone at face value when they're sarcastic then *you're* the idiot and not the person saying the exact opposite of what they mean.

SNL did the same a very long time ago. Christopher Walken played a Bond villain building his immense super secret headquarters in an extinct volcano. The contractor came over to talk about cost overruns, union rules, OSHA workplace rules, and on and on and on. They could have easily done it for the old Batman series before Nolan had Luscious Fox become the contractor. SNL alumni, Mike Meyers, had the henchmen in his Austin Powers series, talk about vacation days with the missus and retirement packages from Dr. Evil. You could find tons of KZfaq videos about the Star wars Empire drones doing the same. This thing is not new and not solely found in adult cartoons.

The nostalgia and fanboyism are from the time in our lives when we were sold the dream, so to subvert the dream to make it funny you have to combine that past era with what things turned out to be like. Nostalgia is effectively what’s being subverted, fanboyism comes from the manufacture of future nostalgia (for the young) and the solidarity that arises from sharing a common cultural experience (for the older).

One-life or one-coin? I'm happily trying one-coins and getting somewhere, but I couldn't imagine one-lifes in Metal Slug. I think the one-coin thing is the only honorable way to play arcade stuff in general, though.

you expose my bare details, friend.. I play it on Steam, but honest Injun! playing in one life, I think it has achievements for it. I'd like to go traditional, but its a dying art these days..

I've had much fun doing old Mega Drive games on a Raspberry Pi hooked up to a 30 year old CRT, trying to do Shadow Dancer on one life, so yes, it's a dying art but so very rewarding!

Indeed, sir! I actually spanked Contra kinda easily and I'm too pissed at Metal Slug right now, so I got the latest build of Brutal Doom and am attempting it on Black Metal difficulty. It is not going well.

Don't think I didn't see what you did, Jared. Make a whole video on why the humor behind hopelessness and the mundane works so well, only to end it with a joke about how we should all put our hopes in sauce that tastes good. You guys have been watching WAY too much Rick and Morty.

I mean Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Good Place, Pop Epic Team, Jane The Virgin or even Atlanta are not in that lane. They are pretty good show. I would even say that Bojack Horseman in his last season has left this train.

It depends on how its portrayed. I'm annoyed when people use it as an excuse to do nothing. Which is most people. The reason why I like it in R+M is because it makes Rick do stuff, rather than just being mundane like Archer (which I never got into).

Hey, could Wisecrack do something about how most modern kids cartoon have gotten away from realistic human shapes. With the thundercats roar thing (forget calarts), but moviebob mentioned that most kids shows seem to focus on abstract shapes instead of real ones. I think dissecting that could be really cool.

Try "Archer". Can't get more realistic and still call it a cartoon. And, no, I don't think that the full CGI "Beowulf" or "Final Fantasy" movies were cartoons.
