⤹Everything you want to know is here!⤵︎
There are timestamps in the video that break this video into chunks!
To put a calendar on this long story- this all happened from 2016ish - 2021. This is the last video I will make regarding leaving and my reasoning behind this choice (I will upload an update but a video regarding all of these stories- I won't say anything else).
Like I have stated in multiple videos- I keep things private because a) I am embarrassed of some of the things that have happened in the past b) I don't want everyone knowing my personal life and c) Some things are better left unsaid/forgotten. This is not everything that has happened but a very quick edited down version for KZfaq. I could go on and on about the struggles I have faced but I don't like dwelling on the past/negative. I like to focus on the positive and the good things in life.
I honestly believe that me coming to Germany was very necessary for my personal growth and providing me a path for my life currently. Without coming to Germany I would not have grown into this woman that doesn't let any hurdle or "failure" stop me from achieving my goals. Germany made me realize that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it and actually take a leap into the dark water.
I am not leaving forever (like I stated in my last video) BUT I can not keep running around in circles for crumbs to be thrown at me when I know I have so much more to offer. I enjoy working & I enjoy the social element of having a job/going to school/having a schedule- not having those things for years of my life has taken a huge toll on me (mentally, physically, emotionally, intellectually etc.). Yes I would have preferred having these things in Germany but sometimes you knock at a door that doesn't want to be answered.

@@HayleyAlexisI believe you read the “confirmations” correctly. BTW, I have had people choose to destroy my life just as that fake-ass “friend” you helped did. Do you know the story of “Layla & Majnún”? Those people are evil in their motivations, like rabid wolves, but they are still doing the work of Fate or God, which ever you choose for your heart. Let them go to their doom, because living ugly means dying ugly, and you do not want to feel responsible for that. And then accept the guidance their vicious behavior gave you. It’s a whole grown-up journey you are on, so internet trolls don’t get it, and rabid wolves and their confederates don’t get it, because they’re all still in junior high. I hope you keep us with you on your further adventures. ❤

Genau.

She vommited every night because of pure stress. But she made it, she's a nurse now and happy, but the life in germany changed her. In Honduras as a girl you can't just go out at night, dancing. Thank you for sharing your experience. It is so hard to be a foreign in Germany and I don't think people understand the hoops you have to jump to have at least the opportunity of enrolling in School or having a job. What you said: This last year was hard but better than the last five (or so) is for me a bit hard to hear because it made me realize how strongly we hold onto something that might not be the best for us, maybe even with no reason. I did make it and have a great job, but I don't have that lebesfreude I had when I was in my Heimat.

I feel you. It takes a toll. You didn't give up in my eyes. It sounds like you tried everything, played by their rules and lost every time to a system that wasn't designed for you to win. You cut your losses and changed strategies. Respect!✌🏽 I've been following your page around the same time you entered Germany because I started my journey in Munich at that time too. It was a tough decision for me to leave because I do miss my friends there. However, things became even better for me after Germany! 😁 A new chapter awaits you Hayley! I watch videos like these and read the comments at times to see what others have experienced as expats so here’s my testimony: I’ve been in northern Germany for a year and a half. I’ve Bachelors in Social Science from the U.S. It’s accepted in Germany (approved by ZAB- 3.5 month wait for that) and helped me get a job at a kita as a full-time native English speaker. I make a little less than $40k/year. I pay about 22% in taxes and 8% goes towards healthcare and pension. I’ve 30 days paid vacation and paid sick days that seem to have no cap (I called out 42 days in 7 months last year and 17 so far this year). I wish the salary was higher but I’m quite content because I also make money from writing on Medium (almost $10k last year. Had to pay $1k in taxes this year for it). I’d teach English online and create videos as well if I had more time and energy. Writing full-time is my goal but I appreciate the kita job for many reasons. #1- it allows me to stay in Germany for as long as I want. I can do so many things that I want there as well. The biggest thing I dislike is working 40 hours a week and getting up at 6:30a. I plan to reduce my hours at some point or quit after another year or two. I don’t have kids nor do I want any which helps financially. You have to know what you want for yourself and for your future. I visit friends and family in the States but not more than once a year. The last time I did I was so grateful to return home to Germany. Good luck with everything Hayley! I went back to school to complete my Bachelors at 37 years old and moved to Europe 5 months after the pandemic started. I finally made it to Germany a little more than a year later, at 44 years old. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. Keep your head up and your heart open. 🙌

She decided against the kindergarten nurse because the salary is not enough in Germany. You cannot make a living from low salary. During the 3 years of apprenticeship the salary is like 700 euros. Normally girls live with their parents when doing apprenticeships. They start at age 17 with no own apartment. Hayley lives in the surroundings of Munich which is 30 percent more expensive than the rest of Germany. A small apartment in Hayleys area is 1000 Euro for rent and she would earn 1400 working in kindergarten after three years of school. You do the math.

I'm excited to where life takes you. I know I'm random internet person, but I'm rooting for you. PS if you're EVER in Tampa, hit me up!! :)

Goodness, I'm in the same boat. Did the Kita route and wasn't happy with the pay. My degree (Psychology) isn't fully recognized so I have to study maybe a year or 2 more to make it equivalent to theirs plus get the masters afterwards because a bachelor just isn't enough here even tho our bachelor is 4 years. They say they have "Personalmangel" but for people like us with degrees from abroad, it's so hard to get it recognized and get the legal docs to stay here, it's easier if you're a refugee with kids though. Sorry but it's what I've seen in my 6 years here.

I wish you all the best for your future endavours. It would be great if you could continue to share your journey with us here in Germany, who have grown to like you like a distant friend. Maybe a few times a year, if that's not asking for too much? Again, all the best!

Haley I am sorry you had to deal with that. I am so proud of how you handled it. I had a Corporate situation that was similar. I was let me go because I was a top paid person in my job and my store did not make there numbers. They told me my position was eliminated. I could apply to other jobs in the company. When I applied to other places in the company I did not get the jobs only HR talking to me. They had put a do not rehire on my record. I did not know this since they offered me apply internally. I was using my old boss as reference for outside new jobs. She was tanking me and I did not know. This was so I could not sue my old company for letting me go. I got hit with super bad depression because I couldn’t get job. My self esteem was in the way down. I am just now starting to dig myself out. Thank you being so candid and sharing your story.

It takes a lot of courage to follow your dreams, and I wish you all the very best that all of your dreams come true. And who knows, maybe one day you’ll find your way back to Germany. its always a bold move to break a habit or to get out of your comfort zone and even more so, if you decide to draw a line although you didn't like the thought of it, but at the same time knew it was necessary. in my book, if everything else meant that you had to ignore reality, then this was the only reasonable decision to make. i wish you the best for whatever you have in mind :)

No the bureaucracy in France is just as much of a nightmare and I get so triggered by it every time. Like one day I will lash out and end up in jail for cursing someone out 🤣😂 (and the worse part is: the taxes are so high which is supposed to pay for gov services, ironically the more staff = more bureaucracy). I’m literally getting worked up as I write this. ANYWAYYYY I FEEL YOU!!!

Agree with you, French bureaucracy is a nightmare when you're not informed enough, and even with information, they can tell you BS and make you move away, for reasons they'll never tell openly (and because it's illegal) Someone should make a comparison between both French and German bureaucracy, that'd be so helpful 🙏

I kind of know what social media & YT comments can be difficult. Apart from the time factor, this is part of why I'm not an avid reader of comments. However, I cannot for my life imagine why anyone would assume things above and beyond what is presented on the channel. Also, it should be clear that not everything is shown on social media of any kind! Your story about your work experiences (or rather application experiences) is fascinating! I am happy you found at least some solution! As I said before: I wish you all the best and that things really work out! You will reach the summit, I believe - and I just hope you'll give a wave to all uf us from there! 😊

@@HayleyAlexis don't worry and don't think you were not "good enough!" No, it is all about our stubborn German bureaucracy which keeps to the rules not matter if the fit the person/situation or not. Most of the companies do not show the SLIGHTEST bit of flexibility. And even a lot of Germans fight with this problem. For example, when overeducated for a job one would think "well they should feel happy to get me". But no. The German companies think "well, she is overeducated, she says she wants the job, but we are sure, as soon as she finds something better, she will say goodbye to us, so we will not take her into that job! She is only using us as a "running board" to somewhere else!" It is like tattooed to their foreheads "we have rules. We use them. No matter what happens, we keep to our rules!" I really hate this part of our working culture. Often I cannot stop shaking my head.
