In this video I discuss the key reasons why I decided to become a Licensed Architect. It wasn't a straightforward path and at one point I didn't want to get my license until I started to do some research.

Hey Ashley, I must say all the reasonings you talked about makes sense and as always it’s very helpful content in order to decide whether to get licensed or not. Thank you for that.

Hi Preyansh! You’re welcome, happy to help 😊 it’s not an easy decision and it’s important to take your time. It took me a few months to develop these reasonings. Also, don’t feel pressured to get licensed.

@@architecture_tv I totally agree with you and after watching this video I am getting more clear understanding about making decision. Also, being an international architect and getting job in here is not that easy without a license. All available jobs either asks for status as intern architect or they ask for Canadian work experience, as in if without license they won’t give you a job then how can one have Canadian job experience. This is an important reason for me to get myself licensed. Thank you again for creating great content.

Hi Darcy! This is a great idea, I'll look into creating a video on the essentials. I do have a video on what programs I use daily as an Architect (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/la2agdhpybCmkaM.html), its important to note that I mainly focus on design and work on the front end of projects so I have more software knowledge. I'll explain more in the future video. Thank you for the feedback 😊

Hello Ashley. I had few questions regarding pursuing a career in Canada. I am doing my 5 years bachelor's in architecture from Bangladesh. But I'll be moving to Canada after around 2years. I wanted to know the following things: 1. What other high paid job positions are available for someone with a B.arch degree? I mean what are the options of pursuing a career in related fields, rather than being a licensed architect? 2. Can you please also discuss the salary of these jobs? And also give us ideas on how to land on a good paying job? I still don't know how to properly use LinkedIn. 3. I'm interested in being an architecture visualization artist. Could you please make a video on how to be a successful one at that? How to land that job? Your answers to these will be highly appreciated. Thank you! ❤️

Hello Ma’am , I just came across your videos regarding eligibility to pursue m.arch in Canada but have some doubts- 1) do I need to be good in maths to pursue m.arch and how much maths skills contribute in architecture. 2) I did not do b.arch but have done BBA as my bachelors, can I pursue m.arch after BBA and if so will it be valid to get my architect license?

Hi Harsh! Thank you for watching 😊 1. No, you don't need to be good at math to purse a masters in architecture or do architecture in general. Basic math skills are needed (adding, division, subtraction, etc.) and you can use a calculator. 2. You can do a masters after you BBA (bachelor in business administration) in architecture however you will be limited on the accredited programs you can apply since your undergrad is not in architecture. I have a list of accredited professional programs which you can consider on my blog; www.ashleyeusebio.com/blog/master-of-architecture-programs-without-a-bachelor-of-architecture I hope this helps.

Hi , I'm currently a 12th grader , from India . I'm planning to do an advanced diploma course in Architectural Technology(3 yrs) in Canada . Could you please give me your suggestions regarding this course. And after completing this how can I attain an architectural degree. Please do give a reply.

Hi Devanand, if you are thinking about getting licensed in Canada its important to note that a diploma will not count toward licensure. In order to get licensed you need to complete a professional (accredited) degree or the RAIC syllabus program. You don't need to be licensed to work in the industry so the diploma could help to build skills and work in the field. This video might help, I talk about why you don't need a license; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p65no8eFurjKnGg.html . I hope this helps.

hey ashley, i have completed my b.arch(5years) from india , i am planning to get a pg diploma from canada what should be a proper license procedure for me (masters is not a option) , should i consider getting my degree evaluated from WES , would it help ?

Hi Pulkit! Based on the information you've provided if you are planning to become a licensed architect you could look into getting your education certified by the CACB since your bachelor is a 5 year degree. For more information about the eligibility the following is a link to the website; cacb.ca/eligibility/ . Upon getting your education certified by the CACB you can become a Intern Architect, collect your experience and write the exams. I hope this helps.

Hi Ashley, I understand all your reasons except number one. Why is number one important to you? Is it competition between men and women and you want to score a point for the team? Help me understand this one. BTW, I'm married to a female architect. We work together. She brings strengths to the business unique from my own. So I could understand if you saw being a women as an advantage in the job market. That was not expressed in the video if that's what you meant.

Hi Trickhammer, I didn't realize the massage wasn't clear so I appreciate the feedback to clarify. I didn't mean it as a competition between men and women. Being a women in the industry can be very challenging since the industry is male dominated, this has changed and is changing with time however many don't see women as an advantage in the job market but rather a burden (for reasons such as but not limited to maternity leave). I do think with time, opportunities and leadership roles will be more equal resulting in more gender equality even in terms of pay. Women right now in architecture are underrepresented in leadership despite their talent and contribution. I have a few articles that shed more light on this topic: www.archdaily.com/402873/necessary-hauntings-why-architecture-must-listen-to-its-forgotten-women, metropolismag.com/viewpoints/women-architecture/
Is it worth it to get your architectural license?
