It is always exciting to see you happy and taking on new adventures on your life journey with Jaylena and Ember. I'm here to see everyone's creative juices following from building buses, homesteading, decorating your new home, creating music, crime podcast (Jaylena), and now camper for truck. It's all so exciting!

I like the intro with your new truck, it's definitely a good choice and I'm sure Jaylena is so proud of you for being such a stand up new Dad. Always thinking of your girls and their well being. I bet Ember will start to feel better as you take to the road even for short trips. Great job, congratulations on the new truck!

LOVING the truck!!! Consider trying a tow behind camper or pop up. It would leave the the truck bed space for extra room for tools, propane, gas cans, outdoor furniture, back up supplies etc. Got a take a run while camping? Unhook and GOOOO! That way you'll still be set up at camp and be able to do what you want. Easy peazy.....Best of luck 😊

Hi Isaac. U did a great job of choosing or sticking with Toyota. I have a 2004 Toyota Sequoia and it has 250,000 miles on it already. I bought it brand new in year 2004 of course and maintained it very well and it is very reliable …. No engine issues until now. This Toyota suv/truck Sequoia is same engine that your 2006 Tundra has. Also I bought a 2019 Tundra 4x4 with crew cab/5ft bed and only got a camper shell on it for overlanding and stealthy capabilities when am in cities. I car camp all the time when am traveling….so Congratulations for your new Tundra, am happy and excited for u Jaylena and Ember. I super adore your beautiful family esp. Ember she is so beautiful.❤️❤️I recently visited Oregon @my nephew in Portland area, visited the Oregon coast and it’s so amazingly beautiful. I plan to come back soon, I love Oregon!💕💕💕

What is wrong with the engine? I have a 2000 sr5 with 240,000 miles. I've replaced the front end, 1 radiator at 185k miles and 1 starter at 130k miles. Engine and tranny run like new still

Nice looking truck, Isaac! Truck/camper camping is so easy - unload the camper at your site & you have freedom to do whatever you want. We did that for many years with my (only child) daughter & there was even room in the back seat for her to bring a friend or 2 along - from young childhood right through high school. Great memories!! 💚

Per Scotty Kilmer, these are the best pickup trucks ever built the 1st gen/Tundra 1999 - 2006 with that 4.7 v/8. I bought my 05 new, now just turned 44k miles still looks and drives like a new one, always in the garage when not on the road. Just remember to change out that timing belt and water pump at around 100k miles and change oil and filter at least every 5k, do this and it will last one million miles.

Yea, on getting a 4wheel drive truck, you get the freedom to go off road and drive in town. I am a truck family, one 2500 truck for camping and a Chevy avalanche for driving around town. We put the back seat down for our dogs and keeps the seats clean and the truck bed for dirty construction stuff. Trucks are great for family's that work on stuff, garden, construction, remodeling projects etc.

We bought a Toyota small truck back in the 1980's and that think lasted us over 20 years until we sold it, still running perfectly. It was the best vehicle we ever owned. NOW, why did we sell it? Because it would not pull a horse trailer. Ergo we bought a Dodge 1 ton diesel with Cummings engine when they first came out. HOWEVER, under heavy load the engine over heated when we pulled a grade with the horse trailer. So I sold that one and bought an F350 diesel crew cab 8' bed and a goose neck 4 horse slant load horse trailer with sleeping quarters and a queen bed. So that's my dream team and still own it 23 years later. I LOVE that truck HOWEVER it has a horrible turning radius and doesn't fit in a parking space well at all. So, I'm going to check out the Toyota Tundra this weekend and maybe a camper just for the fun of it.

So thrilled Isaac for your reasoning on going the direction you’re going with choosing a vehicle that works safely and is a trusty vehicle for the needs of your family - also respecting your fine example in buying something of quality in being a used vehicle so many go overboard in getting into debt in feeling the need to buy brand new at exorbitant prices but so glad you see value in having something you can rely on and easier to maintain mechanically - can’t wait to see your adventure rig - I have an older little 4x4 2007 ford explorer sport trac truck that I’m hoping to work on - hoping to make a type of rooftop camper for some weekend camping fun -great times ahead 🎉

Oh yeah bro. Fo Buh Fo is a major major game changer. And I bet you don't even have lockers in the axles YET. So you really only have a 2wd still. You have differentials front and rear, so when in 4wd, you have 1 front wheel with traction, and 1 rear wheel with traction. If lockers or limited slip differentials are added to the front and rear axle, now you have a true 4x4. As much as I hate to admit, cuz they're not USA company, but Yotas are good. A few months back, I got a killer deal on a 2006 Corolla with 130,000 miles that has been well maintained and clean from our impound auction where I work, for $2000. That thing runs like new, gets 30mpg and is super comfy to drive, freeze deez nuts cold AC. Great car. I just use it for my commuter car back and forth to my off grid property now that's 47 miles from where I work. Although, I'm usually driving a tow truck everywhere, but now I at least have an economy ride for my days off if I ever get one, or want to cruise to So Cali to see family. You'll like that thing and have great luck with it. The Lexus too since they are also Toyota powertrain. Congrats !!!

@@isaacturnerit They ain't a bad idea bro. Now do a bit of research so you know the difference in a locker and a limited slip differential. A locker keeps both wheels in the axle locked up together, as I said you'd have a TRUE 4x4 with lockers. So now when you turn a corner and your wheels are locked together, you're going to feel a bit of an uncomfy bind and might even hear some poppin and clackin, that's the locker letting loose as it's supposed to do so you can turn the corner rather than bark your tires since turning a corner your wheels on the same axle are now moving a different speeds until you complete the turn. So some people like lockers for that reason. I love'm. Now there's limited slip diffs too. A limited slip diff works just like what you have right now. Both wheels are unlocked. Now when wheel slip is detected, the mechanism grabs the other axle and locks up the axles together so that you both wheels moving the same speed. So the limited slip diff is more comfy, but it also has parts like clutches and such that need replaced and the wheel locking up is not instant where as a locker stays locked up and only releases on a turn. Put it this way, Real off roaders use lockers, Street princesses use limited slip diffs, and that's OK too, they do work. Here's another consideration. Torque steer !!! When you're in 4x4 in the front axle and you go to turn, if your front wheels are locked up, it's going to be a bitch to turn and you're going to feel the steering wheel fighting you. It's normal. If you want to avoid that. Then do a locker in your back axle, and a limited slip diff in your front axle. So then you have a true 3 wheel drive, and the front axle will grab that 4th wheel when needed and you only feel torque when you need a true 4x4. Or, just leave your front axle alone and put a locker in your rear end. 3 wheel drive is going to get you about anywhere you want to go unless you are rock crawling and I don't recommend that in an overlander rig at all. Rock crawlers are purpose built and don't belong on the street. Rock Crawling is brutal and breaks a ton of parts.

In the 80's and 90's we pulled a 23' Cobra camper behind a Chevy Blazer with ease. Loved it. We camped in great campgrounds throughout New England. I'm 84 now, miss those days. From Connecticut. Love your family.
