Lets talk about why I bought one and what I have done for mods so far. I consider this my first "real" KZfaq video, so bare with me as I figure out audio and video settings as well as editing.
On Sunday the 21st of May 2023, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember.

Last bike I bought a beemer for practical reasons… this time I bought a scrambler for the heart, and you know what… it’s a good old fashioned motorcycle. Flat seat, classic looks, with all the good tech for safety… doesn’t look like a transformer, great engine etc etc… great do it all bike!

Great choice, adventure bikes are amazing but as you say the 'Transformers' look is their drawback. So great to see a video just about a bike owners feeling about a bike rather than technical details and specs. Going to get of these myself soon. Just keep an eye on the frame around the sidestand and don't ever mount "cowboy style" as some do crack there.

I was in the exact same boat as you, more or less. After ~14 years of riding a variety of things (mostly superbikes) I was ready for a dramatic change of pace. I miraculously managed to not kill myself after years of go-real-fast and decided it was time to go ADV. I liked bits and pieces of virtually all ADV bikes, but research eventually led me to discovering the Scrambler 1200, which is seldom discussed in ADV circles. I'm roughly 2,000 miles deep after 2 months of owning my '23 XC. It's redefined what riding means to me and I absolutely love it. Thanks for the video.

After 4 month riding a 1200 GS, i bought my first triumph, a 1200 XE, and I love it. The Seat is better as it looks like. The possibility to set up the handle bar (front, back only by turning the handle bar riser over 180 degrees, or up and down by removing the spacer…) without buying additional parts is awesome. In summery riding this bike is much more emotional in comparison to my 8 BMW bike before. So I think, and that’s just my opinion, you‘ve done a good choice :) Sorry for my bad Englisch, I am a German potatoe :D

My wife bought me my 2019 Scrambler1200XE for my 40th…five years this week, and me and my Scrambler, nicknamed “The Bison”🦬, are just about at 20,000 miles and a sh*t load of fun. From Washington state down into New Mexico, my Bison has been a beast every mile. Workday commutes of 80 miles round trip, all year around (except when the snow sticks) were the best even if it was mostly slab. A SPEngineering Dual Shotgun exhaust, Booster plug, some DoubleTake breakaway mirrors, a fly screen and 4 sets of tires…now on the fifth, the bike feels perfect. I plan on putting another 20k miles in the years to come…maybe by my 50th, I can hit 50k 🤔 Ride On!

If I was about 10 years younger, I would buy this bike. I've owned two triumphs: a 2007 Bonneville that I later turned into a sidecar rig (I do regret selling it), and a Rocket 3, which I got too old to ride (amazing torque on that beast). I'm currently riding a BMW gs1200r sidecar rig, but mostly around town; and, a Yamaha fjr 1300 if I feel the need for speed. I, like you, started riding bikes at an early age, then took about 20 years off....but I kept literally dreaming about motorcycles until I finally bought a used Vstar 1100, then a new Honda st1300, then the Triumphs.., I do like the mods you made. The sidebag and duffle with the top box give you good storage but do not take away from the bikes naked beauty. Thanks for the upload and I will subscribe. Ride safe.

I appreciate that, brother! Nice list of bikes you have there and I can definitely see why you regret selling the side car rig. As for the Rocket III, that's a bucket list bike for me. It may or may not happen before I'm too old to handle it.

The Scrambler 1200 is a great, fun, bike. I've only done demo rides on it, but the feeling of 'fun riding' that the bike's looks inspire come to life when riding it. To me, the trend towards big ADV bikes (big motors, big fairings) contradicts the notion of adventure riding, unless we're talking of touring on paved roads. I love the tall stance of the bike, but I'm 6'2" ... I can't imagine it's very doable for those under, say, 6'. (BTW, happy to bump your 'likes' off of 666. 😂 )
@scrambler_adventures
@scrambler_adventures Жыл бұрын
I agree, shorter people may struggle. Especially in a scenario where you need both feet down, such as backing into a spot to park. But I l9ve the bike. I also can't imagine going off road on a big ADV. I simply do not have the skill set or th we luxury of laying it down and breaking something. Thanks for the view, the comment and the "bump", lol.

@@scrambler_adventures F850GS. I thought it would be a little better suited for both travel and off pavement exploration. The couple of things that turned me away from the Scrambler was the inability to utilize a pannier on the right side of the bike, lack of a few built in creature comforts (stock heated grips) and lack of better wind protection for long stretches of road. Maybe in a few years I'll reconsider.

I had Dunlop Trialmaxes on my 1200XE too - the perfect tyre for the bike - sufficient grip, good off and on road and the last really well. The rear tyre is quite hard but the TC takes care of any issues! My biggest gripe with the bike is the top-speed limiter which kicks in at about 114 mph - stop nannying your riders Triumph! And of course it's made in Thailand.

Fixing to slap my tail tidy on before this riding season starts in earnest, and with that, I think I'm done with mods. Though, I keep searching for the ideal tire. I ran through a couple of Michelin Anakee Wild rear tires. Didn't get to 3k miles on either. They are good on road and off except for wear. I just put on a set of Pirelli Scorpion Rally STs. Haven't taken them off road yet, but I suspect I may have gone too far in the other direction in search of added mileage. We'll see! Best of luck and keep those videos coming!

Good choice. I agree about the styling of adventure bikes. The Triumph looks good because it has no fairing. This is the XE. The main thing I don't like is the keyless ignition. I'm not wild about the high exhaust, either. Does it feel hot? You didn't fancy the high front mudguard? I like the side bag. Not keen on the huge box.

Thanks. I definitely Agee about the keyless. It's handy, but I worried about it going wrong in the middle of nowhere. I ended up putting a spare battery in the useless phone compartment under the seat. I also think the bike looks better without the top box, but it gives me the storage I need for longer trips and it is quick disconnect. As for the high mud guard, I do like the looks and believe I'll have one this summer.

I did the same despite being advised not to by triumph for the supposed very low payload of that rack (i.e triumph not having the balls to back their own stock equipment). I could not be bothered buying and installing another rack. Nonetheless I am not riding super with a peace of mind especially when my givi 42L is fully loaded, I am always worried high speed or off roading would rip apart that setup. Do you have an opinion on the matter? How has it been going for you so far? Cheers.

Thanks! I know what you mean. However, I have been off road aggressive enough that my rear tire has collapsed the suspension enough to buckle my license plate and nothing happened to the rack. So I'm really not concerned at this point

I’m up in the north east myself. I got the 2022 XC, and really love this bike. Could you please explain that power plug . What type of plug is it, and what can you plug into it? I see it’s not a cigarette lighter, but I don’t recognize the plug and wanted to know what can be plugged into it. Another question I have is, what kind of hooks did you use to utilize the under seat loops? I’ve looked everywhere for the type of bag and even hooks to latch onto those but could not find exactly what could hook onto those. Thanks!
@scrambler_adventures
@scrambler_adventures 5 ай бұрын
The power plug is essentially a cigarette lighter as you say but it is a smaller diameter than what is in a car. The one I have is from Triumph and is just an easy place to plug in a phone charger or whatever. There is specifically a spot to install this on the scrambler.Scrambler. as for the hooks, they are from the Triumph dry bag so they are specifically made to match up to the seat. I'm not aware of anyone else that makes a bag or straps to attach to this seat . Other options would work, obviously but these are made to work together.

@@scrambler_adventures : You say you can plug in a phone charger, are you saying it’s a USB port or a USB-C port ? I guess I’m trying to ask if you can plug a USB charger in there? And does it turn off when you turn the ignition off ? Thanks for the reply.

@@ginoasci2876 this what I installed. shop.triumphcleveland.com/store/Triumph-Scrambler-1200-Auxiliary-Power-Socket-A9828041-p495060645. Then I bought an adapter so I could use a regular sized charger from my car as the motorcycle power socket is a smaller diameter. When I get home from work I will post some pics on discord for you if you would like to join.

In my opinion it's worth it. It was one of the first things I added. Never leaked, plenty of storage space and has been great. The only thing I could complain about is the straps on it. Thanks and enjoy your bike!

Thanks for watching. Yes, it has been completely waterproof. It has a roll top close with a buckle, then the flap folds over the top and cinches down. The bags interior is a waterproof liner.

I own a Nightshift and a limited edition café racer scrambler. They're only 803 cc but they blow my balls off. What's the 1100 like in comparison to the 803? I reckon it's probably over the top.. by the way, I don't consider you an amateur. For not having an intro video. Intro videos are on necessary waiting time and bloody. Well boring. I prefer raw footage on straight to the point so hats off to you. This is a real real Vlog. Be careful on the Ducati man that throttle can really take you on an airplane ride, which I'm sure you have found out as you've been driving it. Congratulations on your bike man! But be careful on it. Don't forget it might be called a scrambler, but the engine inside is still a Moto GP engine and that's still a racing bike. You can kill your self on. after so long, not riding bikes, and taking this monster of a machine and work of art of engineering, hats off to you. Because that's not a beginner bike. A Ducati bike is a super bike and congratulations for owning an absolutely fantastic motorcycle I only have two of the 803CC ones but judging by the happyness I get from them, you must be over the moon and delighted with your new bike. I'm very happy for you.

Thanks for the watch. I'll keep this in mind if I ever ride a Ducati. As for me, I have no intention of letting mine go anytime soon. The 1200 is more than enough power for me.

I'm considering one. Purely because I really don't get on with the upright bike screens. I can cruise happily at 90 on my naked bike but my Tracer is annoying as hell 70+ which actually negates how good it is.

I get what your saying. Mine seems to keep the majority of the wind off my chest, so I'm not getting fatigue from that. My helmet seems aerodynamic enough as to not cause neck strain. The only real issue is the rain as there isn't anything to get behind. But it's a trade off I'm willing to make. Thanks for the watch!

@@scrambler_adventures Unless you're gonna go massive barn door RT style you're gonna get wet regardless. And even on those as soon as you stop... I would say that the most non bike waste of money purchase I've made recently has been the Neotec 2. Absolutely shocking with a tracer windscreen. On the Monster 1200 - blissful. WTAF

Is this bike to advanced for a first bike?
@scrambler_adventures
@scrambler_adventures 7 ай бұрын
I am in no way an expert and can only offer my opinion. To me the question if a bike is a "good" first bike has nothing to do with tech, HP, torque, etc. What matters is, can the rider physically handle the bike.... the height, the weight and will the bike be used in the environment it was intended for and most importantly the mentality of the rider. So, yes, this CAN be a good first bike, but not for everyone.
