My Framework Playlist • Framework After my last video about the framework company, I figured it may be useful for people that are also pre-ordering theirs to hear my opinion on the ideology of choosing parts and specifications for the 16". Since framework is such a new and unique approach to the laptop world....my methodology was very different here than a normal laptop. I hope this explanation helps and please let me know in the comments if you are having a difficult time deciding what components to choose. I'd be more than happy to help!

3:03 I misspoke, the maximum is 64GB. However, the same ideology I mentioned applies here where you don't need to go overkill as RAM prices will drop and speeds will increase over time. Would love to hear below if you have pre-ordered a 16" what specs you went with .... I'll start with mine (should be easy to copy and paste) CPU: 7840HS GPU: 7700S and Expansion Bay Shell RAM: FW 5600Mhz (2x32GB) SSD: 2TB WD Black Keyboard: English Bezel: Black Modules: USB, USB-C x 2, HDMI, 3.5mm, Micro SD Accessories: Color Shift, RGB Macropad, Numpad

I'm in Batch 1 myself, I've got slightly different modules as I already have a USB hub with SD card stuff (Ethernet, HDMI, Audio Expansion, 2x USB-A and USB-C) alongside a 7940HS (I wish I'd gone for the 7840HS, but heat of the moment dive in and etc.) and the same Expansion Bay stuff as you. Main difference for me was that I bought the RAM and SSD separately (same SSD as you, went for a 32GB kit instead though) as the cost was just so inflated through FW, definitely helped me on the costs front and makes it feel somewhat more reasonable. Haven't gone for any of the extra keyboard area modules (well, I got the numpad) as I simply don't have the money available to justify it... But I can always get those in the future.

Oh wow you got in early! You'll get yours before I get mine, very exciting. 32GB is a great sweetspot for most users! I feel ya on buying separately, I know I lost some $ there but I figured I was fine with it as a little support to FW. You have a great build remember you are getting a faster CPU and it will have better resale value in the future so don't sweat it! Thanks for sharing 😃 @@omegamezle

@@VladimirKostek I'm most excited about the repairability and open source nature that's been kept up. I'm a first year Electronic and Electrical Engineering student so it should give me a good platform to do some tinkering/projects on. ...it's also a decent upgrade from my existing PC which I left at home, around twice as fast as it potentially.

PLEASE check your Framework 16 laptop order again!!! The color shift module is NOT the LED Matrix module. The LED Matrix module that you showed off in your video clip is $49 add on and is the programmable lights that you showed off. The color shift module is an aesthetic module that visually changed color based on the angle that you view it at I believe. My understanding is that you can contact Framework to tweak your order if you need changes prior to the full payment just before shipping. I hope this helps as I almost made the same mistake. Thank you for the video and have a nice day.

It's fun to see all the bits you can get. I have heard there's a lot going on in Starfield and the NPCs / crew members can be pretty reactive. I am curious to hear your thoughts on it.

Speaking on the size with the graphic module, I'm going to buy a new backpack just so I can carry my FW16 around with me at school. If U want to look at it I'm looking at getting the boundary supply errant pro. I emailed support to see if the FW16 would fit and they said yes😅. How's ur fpv journey been soo far? The company that makes the digital system I use just released some new cheaper HD goggles that are very tempting.

how the hell are you just flatly calling 64 gigs of ram just good?? thats so much already
@VladimirKostek
@VladimirKostek 7 ай бұрын
Haha that's a fair point flame, I guess my frame of reference is that I'm trying to future proof it meaning 64gb should be good for the next 3-4 years. TBH the sweetspot for most people is 32gb I think. I do CAD, gaming and video editing so 64gb is the right spot for me! Hope that clarifies a bit. 16gb would be the bare minimum I would recommend for this laptop. I could totally see a scenario too where someone could buy a single stick of 8GB or 16GB now and could upgrade and add another stick in the future if the upfront cost is too much right now, that's the beauty of framework :)

I saved a few hundred bucks by buying my 64 gigs and I 2tb from micro center. Also, I bought my expansion card separately. Same price either way, and I'd rather that big chunk of cash just be a little bit smaller when it comes out in a few months.
