About the video:
In this deeply personal video, I share my journey from being a Protestant to becoming a Catholic, a path illuminated by my growing understanding of Scripture, the veneration of saints, and the profound significance of the Eucharist. This religious transformation was not just a change of denomination but a spiritual awakening to the depth of Catholic church teachings and the rich traditions that resonate with my faith. Join me as I delve into my reasons for this conversion, exploring the sacraments, doctrine, and the beauty of embracing Catholic traditions that have shaped my spiritual journey.

*How often do we put God first in our decision-making? lt's paramount we take that first step of talking to him first. I wanted to try out something new, so I prayed to God about it and took the step. It turned out my best decision ever taken. A decision that fetches me $42k bimonthly. I spent time praying in the spirit like I always do, in tongues of fire (my secret weapon). God came through for me*. *Praise Jesus🙏🙌✝️❤️❣️*

Yes difficult because probably you have lost your previous friends after converting. And yes! Exciting because me being a cradle Catholic, just since the past few years I got converted from being a lukewarm Catholic to being on fire for Jesus! This took place after reading Scott Hahn’s book ‘Supper of the Lamb’, my days are very busy and exciting now digging in to the early Church etc…. You will do even greater things I know… stay blessed🙏

I've been an active Protestant since birth till the age of 60. I converted to Catholicism on 25th of June 2016, I've been a Protestant minister for 41 years - 7 years a Deacon and 34 years a fully ordained Priest. I used to convert Catholics to Protestantism until a supernatural encounter occurred to me in the Philippines during my mission which changed my mindset concerning the Catholic Faith completely. I studied Catholicism four years daily before converting. I am now a Catholic apologist, teaching our Catholic brothers and sisters how to defend the Catholic Faith.

Reading the history of the Biblical Canon and the writings of the Church fathers convinced me that Protestantism didn't have a leg to stand on - and I had been a devout Evangelical. Rather than returning us to the Early Church and stripping off the "pagan traditions," etc., of Catholicism, the so-called "reformers" had simply created a new religion that broke with the beliefs of the Early Church. I had to join the Historic Church after my reading, and now attend a traditional Latin Mass.

I had a fantastic phone conversation with the local priest yesterday and i am attending my first mass on Saturday (the priest suggested i come to a mass with less people first as i told him i get very nervous meeting new people) I was raised Anglican but fell away in my teenage years and 20 years of atheism followed then one day i watched a debate with a man called john Lennox who is a mathematician professor at oxford and also a Christian and what he said made me realize i had to investigate Christianity's claims with an unbiased mind , a few months later after reading a ton of books and research i fully believed in the death and resurrection of Christ (which was very shocking to me as i didnt expect the outcome). Then i started to think about the various denominational claims (James letter made me really question sola fide) and through my reading the writings of the saints and church fathers i saw that the fullness of the faith lie in Catholicism , Catholic church was THE church established by Jesus through the apostle Peter the first Pope. Then i had to tell my completely protestant family lol that was fun XD and after the initial shock due to the built in anti Catholicism that is found in Protestantism we started to talk and i explained and showed them that what they thought was the catholic church was not the catholic church at all , Catholics dont worship Mary ect and they came around to accepting my choice and i now have their full blessing in becoming Catholic , my mother told me the other day that she could not deny (what we call) the miracle of my conversion (which she had been praying to happen for 20 years) and that the Holy spirit is clearly drawing me in this direction :)

That’s such a beautiful testimony. It’s often said that converts to Catholicism from Protestantism are often highly knowledgeable and well informed as opposed to those Catholics who leave their faith to become Protestants, these folks in general were poorly catechized like trees with shallow roots.
@robdee81
@robdee81 4 ай бұрын
@@CocoWynnthankyou for your kind comment coco , the fact is i feel like an idiot for a 20 year period of rejecting Our Lord Jesus and thankfully i eventually became serious about investigating Christianity. I wasn't trying to prove this or that denomination , i just wanted to find Truth , and that fervent searching over a 2 year period lead me to the Catholic Church. Catholicism is the apostolic historical authentic faith , every other denomination split from you and for me when i read the Gospels the last prayer Jesus makes before the crucifixion (John 17:20) hit me hard and i saw how much He wants us to be one , and because He wanted that i too wanted that and realized the only way this will ever happen is all those who left coming back into communion with Rome. I really pray that all Christians take the time to delve into the church fathers and the saints and history of the Church and approach it all without any bias , specifically denominational bias , they too would see that what you have in the Catholic Church is so precious.

What fullness of truth inside the catholic ? ....worshipping IDOLS, IMAGES....IDOLATRY is against God's well.....One of the Ten commandments of God... "Thou shalt not worship in IDOLs Images made of gold , woods ect....
@macp5992
@macp5992 4 ай бұрын
@@EliasCarian Unfortunately, the misinformation and educational bias against Catholicism is not your fault. Idolatry is a worship of Paganism and is considered a grave sin within the Catholic Church and in the history of Church teachings. However, non-Catholics or Protestants have been misguided and falsely taught with the belief that Catholics worship statues. On the contrary, the word “Worship” to non-Catholics and Protestants have been misinterpreted, misused, or misconstrued compared to the historical origin meaning of the word. Worship is a term that historically means praising or worshiping a deity that requires offering prayers, sacrifices, and incense. Catholics that have statues in their Churches is not “Idolatry” as non-Catholics and Protestants misused or misunderstand. Statues in Churches are “venerations” which is different from the term “worship” and ALL individuals “venerate” something or someone in their lives. For example, when countries have “Statues” of historical figures in their cities, states, or towns that respect and “venerate” them, would you call that “worship”?! No because “veneration” is not the same term as “worship.” Lastly, to provide a biblical context, if you look in the book of Exodus while the Israelites were in the wilderness for 40 years, why did God tell Moses to build and carve two statues for religious purposes in Exodus 25:18-20 which were two cherubims on top of the Ark of the Covenant and wings on both sides?! (To get a better detailed explanation, read the ENTIRE chapter of Exodus 25 verse 1 to 40). Do you believe God told Moses to Idol worship because he built and carved out a statue for religious purposes?! If you do, then your judgement of Catholicism suffices and you should ask what you fully actually believe in and research historical bases on Christianity and understanding the fullness of truth, which is historically the Catholic Church. I pray and hope this information helped 🙏🏾✝️Amen!

@@Phil4All When I reverted to the faith, I entertained evangelical Christianity for a short period. Nowhere near the conviction to completely convert, but I at least saw it as plausible and was parroting their arguments a lot, as a baptized Catholic. Protestant arguments and objections don’t last long under direct scrutiny and in the face of evidence. It didn’t take long before I saw the incoherence of the denominations and the necessity of the one universal Church became clear. If you’re speaking truth you wouldn’t need to do that. When I engage Protestants I correctly state their false belief. Then take it completely apart. I don’t have to start with a lie like why do prots worship a Book? Why don’t they believe Jesus was God?

Luther threw away the Epistle of St. James from his edition of the German Bible. Protestants threw away 7 books from their Bible and parts of others. Though Deuteronomy 4:2 says, "You shall not add to the word of God ...nor take away from it. " Prayer is NOT worship. The heart of WORSHIP is SACRIFICE. That's why protestant prayer services on Sunday are NOT worship. God has the right to define how He wants to be worshipped.

Here's my brief thoughts, feel free to offer any feedback or pushback. 1. Other denominations also believe in real presence in the eucharist, such as Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, etc. So it doesn't necessarily commit you to Catholicism. 2. Same as above. Also, you said at 3:10 that prayer is worship, so if we can pray to saints, it follows that we can worship saints. A lot of Protestants would recoil at the thought of that. Perhaps you'd invoke the Dulia/Latria distinction, though I haven't looked into the arguments for that yet. 3. The canon argument. You can ask the Protestant, by what authority did you determine the infallible canon? Likewise, you can ask the Catholic, by what authority did you decide that your denomination is the true claimant of such authority? In both cases, each individual will ultimately make a fallible decision to trust such authority, whether that be the Catholic Church or some other church. So the "you can't have a fallible authority putting together an infallible book" remark at 5:30 ultimately applies to both sides at some level.

1. On the relation between Orthodoxy and Catholicism, I cut out a part of the video where I do say my conversion is more towards Orthodoxy/ Catholicism instead of one over the other. I am Western in thought and thus Rome is 'closer'. As for Anglican, they do not have valid orders and thus no 'host' in the truest sense. 2. I would argue that all worship is prayer, but not all prayer is worship. Prayer is the communication between the corporeal and the spiritual. So no worship of the saints intended, same goes to Mary. 3. Trust and infallibility is different. The infallibility of the Church is believed through the lens of fallibility. I could be wrong in my conversion, but the doctrine I believe supposes the infallibility. Whereas the protestants say the infallible scriptures were put together by an fallible Church which is still believed in by a fallible mind, both being a categorically different claim

Worship is when you offer sacrifice. Catholics do not offer sacrifice to saints, including Mary. We only offer sacrifice to God, by offering the Lamb of God (Jesus). Thus, we only worship God.

The Catholic church/Eastern Orthodox are not denominations, in that the protestant movement in it's many forms are denominated from it. Some denominations claim the real presence but their priests do not possess holy orders to consecrate the host and are therefore parodying the changing of the bread and wine into the real presence. Their orders are invalid Pray. It means to ask. Be very clear about that. As a Catholic, I'm not a follower of the strict idea, therefore, that prayer = worship. Although it can be a form of, or part of worship when directed to God. To pray to saints is too ask them to pray for us as we can also pray for ourselves. The Catholic church is the only church which contains the full truth or the Christian faith. The denominations contain truth within themselves but are not of the full truth as they were originally founded on heresies. ( that doesn't mean that the Protestants of today are heretics) I'm a bit confused about your reference to an "infallible" book. But just to remark that the Catholic church is not a church "of the book" but holy scripture is innerent, divinely inspired and along with sacred tradition and magisterial authority reveals God's holy spirit through His church.

Put simply, prayer is asking and should not be confused with worship or adoration which are due God alone. Therefore, when we pray to the BVM or any of the other saints we are merely asking them to intercede on our behalf at the throne of the Lamb Himself.

“ASK (pray) and it shall be given - SEEK and you will find” If a soul lives in the presence of the Lord in heaven who resides outside of time and space I see no reason to believe we can’t ask any of the saints including any of our departed family to intercede for us. Thus it’s even possible to pray with efficacy for those who are a long time dead. All things are possible in Christ.

@@Triniboyforchrist I've been watching a lot of Catholic (and Orthodox) channels for the past year. I am really interested in the history and tradition of our faith, so thanks for the recommendation I will watch. I have been taking the history and tradition of the faith to heart, but I had a revelation that we are currently living in history, so even the things that have happened in modern times, they are still history, and things that have brought me to my current place in that is a tradition. I have descended from the Jesus Revolution in California. Which to me is an undeniable movement of the Holy Spirit. I was even baptized in the Pacific Ocean. So even though my tradition started in the 70's my faith is a product of that, and history continues. With that said I do think there is great value in the wisdom of the history and tradition of the faith still.

Saint Peter established the Eastern Church in Antioch before setting foot in Italy. In fact the feast of the seat of Peter the Roman Catholics celebrate on February 22, is not the Chair of Rome but the Chair of Antioch. The Feast of the Chair of Rome is on January 18 but was abolished by a recent pope for some reason. We orthodox still celebrate both. Just to say, Rome has no monopoly over the apostolic succession of saint Peter no matter what the popes say.

I was born Catholic and I am fortunate to be part of this community of believers. Being Catholic I felt the real presence of Christ through the Eucharist during the Holy Mass. In addition to that, the Roman Catholic Church was established by Christ through Peter the apostle and St. Paul. Roman Catholic’s is described in three words humility, charity and worship in Christ during the holy sacrifice of the mass which centered only to Christ’s ministry through liturgical readings from old to new testaments, Eucharistic celebration and the Declaration of His death and resurrection. Most words during the holy mass are scripture-based which represents the solemnity of the celebration. I encourage you to attend a Tenebrae Service during Holy week which is the most darkness celebration of the Catholic Church in commemoration of Christ’s passion and death on the cross. Added, try to attend also the Traditional Latin Mass aside from the Novus ordo mass (modern mass). The Latin Mass is the most sacred and solemn mass in the Catholic tradition where Gregorian chants are sung and performed. Welcome to the Catholic family brother. 🙏🏻

OK, this is definitely superficial, but I like Josh's slight UK/Scottish (?) accent - yet he visually presents as someone who ya wouldn't'think' would have that accent. It's a nice reminder not to judge a book by its cover and to a lesser degree, how international and culturally diverse our Catholic faith is. I'm glad the Eucharist is a major part of what converted you. Our converts are often times the most ardent defenders of the faith, I've found. Us cradle Catholics are often sorta lukewarm, I'm afraid. We need content like this to beat back the darkness.

Orthodox here. No offense but it's the wrong translation. Acts 9:31 states Ἡ μὲν οὖν ἐκκλησία καθ’ ὅλης τῆς Ἰουδαίας καὶ Γαλιλαίας καὶ Σαμαρείας The words used are not Ekklesian Catholes but ekklesia kath'oles tes Ioudaias kai Galileas kai Samarias Kath'oles means all over. The real translation is : "Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified." The expression "The Churches throughout all (territory)" is the ancient description of an episcopal jurisdiction we still us within the orthodox Church today. This precise one is the "Patriarchate of Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria", currently under the authority of our beloved patriarch Theophilos III apostolic successor of Christ and saint James. Among the other most ancient apostolic chairs we also have the Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East. The Patriarchate of Alexandria and all of Africa. And the Patriarchate of Rome and all the West (until Benedict XIII dropped that title for some reason). Universal Church is Katholike Ekklesia as we can read in the symbol of the faith : Εἰς μίαν, ἁγίαν, καθολικὴν καὶ ἀποστολικὴν Ἐκκλησίαν. (We believe) in one saint catholic and apostolic Church. As we orthodox proclaim without alteration since the Council of Nicea in 325AD. Catholike does not mean Rome but the entirety of the Christians. The Roman Church weaponized the word Catholic to mean "Greeks not welcome" in the 11th century for political reasons I will not detail here. We orthodox don't use the word catholic as a mean to exclude any of our christian brothers. We say where the universal Church is : In the orthodox Church. We don't say where the Church is not because it's not charitable. Our Lord is a shepherd who cares a lot for the lost sheep. "And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ John 15:6 Lord have mercy on us all sinners

@@Hope_Boat Catholic is refering to the Church in Rome and here is why. All the Church that called apostolic must in communion with the successor of St. Peter (which is today Pope Francis). If someone who are in a position of (say Schism) severe communion from the Church of Rome does not include in the Catholic Church. Plus here I am trying to make a point that biblicly speaking (writting), there is only Catholic Church acts 9:31, there is no such thing that called baptist Church, episcopelian church or orthodox, whatever denominations you might wanted to call. Because in Matthew 16 the Lord said that he will build ONE Church ( ekklesian which is singular =one) which spread throughout the world (meaning = Catholic). and even St. Ignatius of Antioch mentioned it (where ever the Catholic Church is there is Jesus Christ). Please don't bring your schematic mentality here. This brother is just confirmed into the Apostolic Church, he and someone like me, we try to learn and understand the beauty, wisdom, richeness of her (Church) doctrines. @@Phil4All From the age of 16, [1975] I had struggled somewhat with anglicanism, and gradually migrated from the 'mainstream' anglicanism to so called 'anglo-catholic'. I still felt things were not right. About the same time a friend of the family gave me a Catholic book. A year later, in the spring of 1976, I paid the first of numerous visits to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham [which is Englands main Marian Shrine, and is revered by anglicans, Catholics and Orthodox]. I gradually felt drawn to Catholicism, but was at first hesitant. Eventually in the autumn of 1977, age 19, I decided to make the change and started to attend Mass and receive instruction on the Feast of All Saints. I was received into the Church on April 20 the following year, 10 weeks before my 20th birthday [the RCIA programme as we know it was not used at the time]. I have never looked back, and now if I go into an anglican church for any reason, [for instance a funeral, an ecumenical event or a visit to a historically interesting pre-reformation church] it feels somewhat 'empty'. I still like to observe April 20 annually as a 'spiritual birthday' and day of thanksgiving. I had at times considered the priesthood or religious life, I did approach but it came to nothing and due to foolish things I did in 2001, became for evver excluded. I hope that God will not condemn me for my foolishness, for throwing away all my talents and missing my vocation.

1. It's good, I have been going down more of the theology side. Future is very much up in the air at the present moment so seeing how things go. Will probably do a Mst or Mphil. 3. Not high Church or Lutheranism due to schism and lack of apostolic succession. It would not be valid consecrated host in the same way of Eastern Orthodoxy. Of course, this in some sense presupposes Catholicism or Orthodoxy to be true, but I would argue that there is just better historical reason to believe in Catholicism and Orthodoxy
