For most of us who left Protestantism for Catholicism we were educated and well informed under the Charles Stanleys and Paul Washers and their views on salvation. Most of us converts didn’t leave Protestantism easily but through much study, prayer, sacrifice and hunger for truth. We didn’t leave Jesus behind. He is the center of our faith. Our journeys through Protestantism was not in vain. But until one knows the fullness of the faith in Catholicism then it’s difficult to understand the meaning of “coming home” to a non catholic. The best thing one can do is to continually pray that no matter where we are that our faith continues to grow and we listen with obedience to where the Holy Spirit is leading us.

Later churches started to follow false teaching, and it was after the Roman church made itself the only legal religion of the Empire that it referred to itself as the Roman Catholic church . This was the result of Theodosius ,using the Roman church to try to unite the Empire . ,AND THREATENING ANY WHO WOULD NOT 'JOIN' WITH THE CONFISCATION OF THEIR PROPERTY. This led to people joining for the wrong reasons ,and not converting to Christianity. This caused conflict and persecution.

I 100% agree. I think we are at the far end of a pendulum swing in the Church and Catholics will soon foster greater community and tradition once again.

@@AGracefulCatholic It's been happening in my parish since we got a new priest in 2011! We have a full lunch every Sunday after the 10:30 a.m. Mass and some people are still there at 1 p.m. The priest is also very traditional. He is still under age 50 and it seems the younger ones are bringing that back. My parish is now packed with young families and many, many children. Even those who are in their 60's and 70's say they have never seen anything like it.

The Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter is for Anglicans who have converted to the Catholic Church and whose Vicars have trained in Catholic Theology and then are Ordained by a Catholic Bishop as Priests. Anglicans are only OUTWARDLY catholic. INWARDLY they are protestant because they uphold the Protestant Queen as Supreme Governor of the Church of England which is Anglican. It was only after the Oxford Movement in the 1800s that Anglicanism started. Before that the C of E was rigidly Protestant all the way back to Henry XIII. After the Oxford Movement altars were restored in their stolen catholic churches. They copied the catholic mass and the robes etc. Anglicanism is fake catholicism.

The Liturgy is the Catholic Church is NOT watered down!

Due to conflicts with work, I usually attend the Spanish service at my parish. It is full of clapping and singing. I don't want to compare it to the English service except to say that it is reverent, joyful and full of life. I appreciate these Masses very much and am enriched by them. As always, YMMV. ☺️

Thank you! And thanks to God for converting my heart in spite of my preferences. I do think it’s a shame when priests don’t know their parishioners, though. (At least when the parishioners are actually active and long-standing members of the parish). Maybe you could gently nudge your local priest to begin individually knowing his parishioners. I know not everyone desires that connection with their priest, but I couldn’t be happy in a parish without it!

@@AGracefulCatholic yes I’m kind of a loner. I do my own thing. It’s all good. I think priests are way too busy and burdened most of the time.

@@PInk77W1 It has to do with the individual priest. The assistant parish priest in the parish where I grew up (South-East Nigeria) knew almost every daily morning mass attendee. And I'm talking at least 100 hundred people who go to 5am Mass everyday.

They came under the influence of the Emperors .1.Constantine who came from Britain but was a sun worshiper .He made the first day of the week a day of rest in honour of the sun god. He was like most Emperors interested in the unity of the Empire and used religion .The worst was Theodosius who corrupted the R.C. church by making it the only religion and threatening any who would not join .This meant the church was overrun by Pagan hypocrites. You can see the laws of Theodosius on line. The true believer as well as the heretics were all then called heretics and persecuted for centuries. The Inquisition went on for 600 years .torturing and killing any who were not R.C. THE ALBIGENSEES who did not agree with the changes in R.C. doctrine were killed .As were the Waldensians mentioned from the 12th to 17th cent. who were hunted down and almost wiped out . The proof that the church knows this is in the presence of the Pope at one of their restored churches in north Italy .This was on Y.tube about 4 yrs ago when he asked forgiveness for the Roman church.

Hey it’s great! I agree it’s hard to find a community (we’re military and move quite often). We found a parish we really love and joined the choir there ☺️

I'm so glad you have a traditional Mass in your area! Many American and European parishes (and honestly probably all over the world) have taken liberties with the Mass that they ought not do. In my opinion, everybody ought to be able to attend the Mass in any country and be greeted with a familiar order of things and songs. (I do not necessarily think the entire Mass should only be said in Latin, but this does help with the internationality of things)

Depends on which church and which service. We have a mass (In England) in the language of Kerrala (Southern India) for those in our community who come from there. That said some of them don't end up making that mass and go to the one I go to.

Not much Latin in Catholic masses now. Some masses in outlier spots. But one of the great things (apart from the eucharist of course) is in the Missal...every mass, everywhere in the world at the same time, covered over a three year timeframe, with liturgy that links the old and new testament in a way that makes sense.

I would not recommend the Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter for Mass because it is for Anglicans who have recently become catholic but who still want to hold onto their anglican churches, prayers, music and traditions. They are still learning about catholicism and based on the comment of Sedes Sapientiae I would say still divisive. Go to a catholic Mass in a Catholic Church built for and by Catholics with years of catholic practice.
