It’s crazy how much I relate to this, even being in upstate ny I have all the same pressures. I’m 19 n I was always studious but college never felt right

aww Anna yes, I feel this. It's so a part of our society's conditioning, but I'm happy to hear that you are in search of a life that feels really right to you:)

Same here! I realized that so much of my identity was around me being studious in school.

I wish I'd had this mindset when I was just getting out of high school! I eventually dropped college after 2 years and 3 changed majors...I am 27 now and still have no idea what I want to do with my life! I am only now starting to play in the real world and explore things outside of my comfort zone. Ah well, guess better a better a little late than never💛

I'm so glad you chose to do what was right for you. You are exactly where you are right now, which is an amazing place, because of decisions like this one. I probably wouldn't have met you if you didn't follow your intuition, and I would probably be in a very different place.

As someone who was pushed into college in the late 90s, rest assured college is not a must. You are smart that you did what was best for you and moved to a new place after highschool.

I could totally relate to when you said you felt inadequate... I always felt inadequate and it took me several years to realize that I determine my worth.

today online classes are so popular, if you like studying you can do that, if not, do not take them...

College is not for everyone. I had this realization when I took a semester at community college. It didn’t feel right and I thought that something was wrong with me. We have all been conditioned by the school system and people think that you are somehow less then them if you don’t have a degree. Not everyone wants to be tied down to one thing and that’s okay!

i have 2 degrees and i am really proud of them, i have been working since i was 19 :)

@@Verbsdescribeus good for u. It seems college was right for you. Maybe not for the rest of us, but college is a choice. Just like work, trade school, or volunteering.

Ik this was 2 years ago but I am so glad you shared this and that this popped up on my suggestions page. You are definitely right and I agree with everything you said I am a freshman in high school and all I have ever heard since middle school is stuff concerning the future making a career pathway and choosing things for college it’s all just stressful and the school system is so corrupted I used to love school and now I hate it I dread walking into my school knowing I’m locked in for another 7 more hours once I step inside no choice to leave but hearing story’s about others succeeding and enjoying the life they made for themselves even if they aren’t billionaires and own great houses without taking the “easy route” or more conventional path its so encouraging to preserver with the path I want to make for myself even if it’s only 3 years down the line

thank you very much for sharing your experience (@^^) I'm gonna be graduating soon, and I feel confident to take a gap before college because I want to get to know myself better and take a break from traditional education. I'm an introvert, and I hated the school system because it only values grades, memorization only for standardized tests, and passing, and it is difficult for the education system to change. My experience when I am in online class for 2 years is the most best moment I've ever had because I learned how to run my early business from an online hydroponics course, as an introvert myself I grew into a better version of myself because I meditated on what I learned outside school topics. So I support these kinds of decisions because many successful people decided to dropout/gap from college and they ended up being billionaires because they tend to focus on running their business by younger age.

So what do you do now, do you work? Do you have a business going...how did you find your feet? I also have a feeling that college is definitely not for me... I would really appreciate your advice 🙏🏽
@ChelseaPutnam3 жыл бұрын
hey Daisey:) so I'm in a huge transition right now with my career, going more towards doing what I really love. For the first few years after high school I worked really hard to make money in the service industry, which helped me a lot to find my footing- and taught me so much. I don't regret not going to school, because this was absolutely the right choice for me- however I did work very hard, and it wasn't always an easy choice:) hope this helps!

Thank you so so much🙏🏽❤️, I definitely understand that hard work is unavoidable if I choose this path but I know that I am choosing to be happy💯 🙌🏽 This really helped.
