This is so helpful! I was looking for exactly this, and didn't know what they were called. For those of you asking for links, just search Amazon for the words: spigot camera

So awesome. I ordered a Smallrig video COB and I started looking at light stands to buy along with it. I was like screw spending an additional $200 or more when I have several tripods. Funny thing is that I already had the MeFoto tripod as my travel option. Light stands are a huge waste of money. I already ordered the spigot before watching your video and you just confirmed the idea works.

Hey Henry! Love the videos man.. btw, the reason why the light stands spring out is most likely because they are air-cushioned, a way to protect the equipment if the thing comes down. Greetings from OC!

This works awesome for lighting solutions that require less than 5.5’ of heigh more or less. For light stands that will hold light and modifier such a 36” octabox you’ll need taller stands with wider leg span and springs to protect gear from accidental drop while adjusting it. I travel with my Godox AD 200 and 400 a lot and I’ve been liking the Manfrotto compact light stands with extendable legs. Check them out

This video inspired me to make spigots to convert drum stands to light stands. Might start selling them!

Ohh, so that thing is called a spigot. I bought a light and found out it doesn't fit on the 1/4" screw of my tripod. Now I know what to get. Thank you!

What about going the opposite way? If you already have a light stand and want to attach a microphone? Is there an.... anti-... spigot?
@uumbadop Жыл бұрын
Actually there is! It's callet something like Camera Screw Adapter Thread 1/4" Male to 3/8" Female and 3/8" Male to 1/4" choose one that will fit your stand/mic thread

Coming from tripods in the first place, pondering about a light stand: Do you see any benefit of a light stand at all?
