Every fandom has the part that makes everyone else look bad. If you've never cringed at other people while you're in a fandom, then you're part of the problem. I myself have avoided whole shows, some of them being amazing, because of how crazy people acted about them, especially on Tumblr (SuperWhoLock, anyone?) so I completely understand where you're coming from. I can't judge you or roast you.

Once about a year ago, I was trying to play among us, and I tried joining servers with MHA names. I kept getting kicked out immediately because my name wasn’t a mha character. I finally joined a server and it turned out they were using the servers to do the most disgusting role playing, and never actually started the game. I was all caught up on the manga, so I just spoiled them on a character death and left.

The shows are too long, understandable. But not watching something because of its fans is a terrible reason. How hard is it to just ignore people? If people who enjoyed your favorite thing suddenly went rogue and started sucking, would you stop liking the thing? You shouldn't, because you should be an independent thinker. I'm not really into video games, and yet it's not because of the gamer stereotypes, some of my best friends are gamers. If you're not judging the thing by itself and that's why you skip out on it, you're missing out, period.

I used to love anime when I was younger. But as I grew older, the culture became weirder, the majority of shows are regurgitated cringe, and the most hyped anime are pretty mediocre. Looking at the culture now it's pretty embarrassing.

I visited Japan 6 months ago and talked to a lady at a bar and she said I was the first American young adult tourist who she talked to that seemed actually interested in real japanese culture and wasn't just some weeb.

I enjoy anime and was part of some fandom few years back. I had some merchandise, but I don't take it seriously like any of those THAT serious. Makes it Harder for me to watch more or try something new. This also applies the same as other Animation/comics/manga/gaming Fandoms too.

Avatar The Last Airbender was the closest thing to Anime I loved when it originally was on TV. I absolutely loved that show. I wish it kept going for the full five seasons

I used to watch anime back when I was in elementary school through high school. I've only watched a handful of animes in my lifetime, such as Naruto, One Piece, Komi Can't Communicate, Kill Me Baby, Dokoru Chan, and a couple others. I'm very picky when it comes to the types of anime I would watch back then and even today. As I got older, I realized that I was less and less attracted to anime, and I came to the conclusion that the only reason why I loved anime is because of the art style alone. Sure, there are still animes I still love till this day, like Naruto, for example. It's just that I find myself not having the time to sit and binge watch any anime show. Not only that, but some animes out there (not all) are nothing but overused tropes, gags, stereotypes, and full of fan service, too.

As a retired 63 year old navy sailor who loves anime I do not agree with your philosophy. Before deployment our deck dept shipmates would by whole anime series and watch the together with our fellow shipmates during our time at sea. Was worth its weight in gold. AFN wasn't that great most of the time. Now I watch anime as much or more than even sports and loving it.

The TikToks in this video were extremely cringey but I just see that as stupid people with no life and it doesn’t take away from the show. What I’m saying is that you should give MHA a chance as it has a good storyline instead of letting creeps ruin your opinion of it.

About the guy in San Diego that makes those cardboard cutouts, I play the same game as him. The fan base thinks he needs to touch grass and we are legitimately concerned about his mental health. When Adult Swim was brand new, and only aired on Saturday, I saw my first anime and liked it. Then more and more anime aired, and Adult Swim became an "every night" thing. I watched Inuyasha, Big O, Trigun, FLCL and others. But then it got really popular, and I guess I felt oversaturated by it? I'm not exactly sure, maybe I just outgrew it. I went back, recently, and rewatched some of it, but I just can't get into it again.
