got this channel recommended on my front page, i’ve found my people! i got into collecting having seen very few famous films, and most of my purchases have been blind buys. i rarely regret it, and have discovered so many movies i love through physical media

Probably 90% of what I buy and watch these days are blind buys. What I love about it is, it’s opening me up to so many other genres of film I normally would otherwise avoid. And I’m growing in appreciation of those films. Even though they may lack name recognition and “blockbuster status” there is still something nostalgic to the “B” movie or straight to video style of film. And I’m loving them more than ever! Sure…there are some regrets. Like I’m learning to steer clear of “shot on video” extreme low budget stuff like “Backwoods Marcy” (which was a Saturn’s Core - Vinegar Syndrome partners release.) OMG 😂 Some people go nuts for that type of stuff and that’s cool… I’ve just learned it’s not my cup of tea. I’m open to most things and again love that I’m exploring more and more film…having the funds enables me to do this as I know that is a big barrier for most - so for that I’m grateful.

The Guest is amazing! Great soundtrack LMAO anything Andrei Tarkovsky is going to take patience, he's a very visual storyteller & is an acquired taste. More of a "filmmakers filmmaker" than for an average Joe audience watcher lol.

Lol we are the opposite, I dont do a lot of Blind buying unless Im really wanting to see the movie or I nust cant resist the vibes or artwork lol

I'm very particular about what I want in my collection and about spending money on movies, so I normally don't like to blind buy them because it rarely ever works out for me. Most recently I blind bought Xanadu and The Watcher (2000) because I really wanted to see them and they weren't available to stream anywhere and I "liked" them but not enough to keep. Thankfully I only paid $5.33 for each of them so at least it wasn't a huge loss of money. Still disappointing though, but that's just part of the gamble of blind buying!

I blind buy because I'm getting all my physical media used and on store credit. I pay nothing out of pocket, and if I don't like the movie, I can return it. But not everyone has that luxury.

Do you have Eraserhead?

I only blind buy at second hand places, and even then I usually know that I’ll like the movie. For boutique blus and 4Ks I will never blind buy. I just don’t have the money for that.

I blind buy a ton of films. When I got lord of illusions I’m not sure I’m happy now that I bought it. Six string samurai is a terrible movie in my opinion.
