really saddened at how few views this video has. thank you for this, genuinely. you’ve explained perfectly what has been giving me existential dread about this whole situation, as an artist and writer i don’t know whether to laugh or cry at just how stupid a large chunk of humanity is being about this. unfortunately it seems many don’t care about the dystopian future and would be perfectly happy to be in the pleasure cube. I’ll be sharing this video around, I hope this message becomes more widespread

that is why I openly reject AI and confort I rather being a bad artist than being a AI artist and is not like I could bring myself to use a art stealing machine for my creative endeavors because I would feel empty for not becoming the artist I wanna be by myself

Exactly. Besides AI isn't going to turn a bad artist into a good one. I think partially the fact that generative ai allows people to sort of avoid any negative feelings that come with building any art skills is why it gathered such massive appeal.

"Synthesize me some art, some meaning." is a line that I'm sure will stick with me for years to come. Great video. I myself am not too worried about AI taking over everything, but this video was a great alternate perspective on the conversation that was tackled with clear care, nuance, empathy, and understanding. Well done.

Very thought-provoking, I do worry for creatives discouraged by the endless AI media stream. I'm sure you could doomscroll twitter forever now with just AI art.

AI is like the moon landing in the 60's. Before we landed on the moon, it was a spectacular dream. All boys and girls wanted to be astronauts, we dreamt of living on the moon. It was basically on the hearts and minds of everyone. It was a dream, not reality. The moment we landed on the moon, we celebrated for a little while, then we asked ourselves "what's next." AI is all the rage and all the talk of the town, it's a dream that's becoming a reality. Once the reality is here, humans will turn on it and want another way of living. We are explores, we want to explore the unknown. Once something is known to us and we know how it qorks, we move on. We will move on from AI as well.

"why do you need to learn how to write when you can type everything?" "Why do you need to type anything when you can just say it and the the program will type it for you?" "Why do you need to write or read anything when you can just hook up your brain to a computer and everything will get transmitted directly into it?"

Artists are in a battle for future of creation… and there losing… With luck and time we’ll survive but I don’t know if we’ll ever win, and that’s a tragedy for everyone.

Yeah, although I think ultimately true human creativity will always be worth more than cookie cutter mass produced content. But, yeah, without major systemic changes the situation is going to be tough

You're spot on! Even if AI does exactly what people want it to, it might not be a good thing at all. AI is a neat technology, but it's foolish to think it in any way could be a valid substitute for art. It's like if we tried to replace food with holograms. Sure, it might look a lot like food, but it's only an imitation with no substance. A diet of only holograms is cheaper and faster than growing real food, but in the end we would surely starve. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

To put it simply, AI can not create, only recreate. Humans can express, which is the ultimate form of creation.

Almost all ideas that appear now in the information space, including works of art, have their own base and, based on other ideas and works, the author’s points of view after a couple of thousand years, change their mind a little. Everything that was written by AI is based on a huge amount of information. What, then, distinguishes a human author who wrote a novel based on the ideas of Schopenhauer and Nietzsche from an AI who did the same? Emotions? We do not know how emotions work in AI, they have learned how to synthesize them, knowing under what circumstances what emotions a person feels. Isn't that the same as a person who feels bad emotions under certain conditions, under the influence of internal stimuli, hormones? (the death of a loved one is sadness, for example). It seems to me that this topic is much more complicated, and although AI cannot bring something new, why are we so sure that a person is doing this, and not just interpreting ideas from the past? Although, you made a great video, I enjoyed it :)

I completely agree that it isn't a simple question. My position is this - Yes, everything that exists in the information space is based on the works of the previous generations, but the difference between a human author taking inspiration and generative AI model is that these "AI-tools" are basically just a database that amalgamates the results based on prediction. It is a very sophisticated prediction, but prediction nonetheless, therefore in "AI Generated" material by design there is no intent, no message. It's just a mishmash of stuff. Granted, what we refer to as AI these days is just a whole bunch of datasets and machine learning in a trenchcoat. If we'd have a genuine AI with its own sense of agency, this question would become way more difficult to answer. Naturally, there are many more questions about generative AI that I covered in this video, but If I decided to put them all in, the video would be at least 8 hours long, because no question exists in the vacuum. I mean you can start talking about corporate CEOs trying to replace every worker with AI, which leads to the discussion of a total failure of the current economic system. Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you liked the video!

If you are an artist, in whatever field- this is a satisfaction that you know nothing can recreate. And to the normies who don't know- give it a try, or look at what happens through view of what brings you satisfaction and without doing that you would go mad. It's emotional lense, something a lotta people who cheer "AI" don't like engaging with- but a society without emotion is a dead one and one, one without any will to do anything beyond "the nescessities" that keep the meat living. And aditional- transhumanism can go fuck itself, medical marvels and helping people walk and hear again is cool, but it's not your fkin shortcut to escape world's problems. A reminder- Metaverse and alike are still rooted in a burning physical world, you can't escape this

Yeah, I think part of the reason why Gen AI caught up so fast is that it circumvents not only the necessity for having a skill (which takes time to develop, and you'd probably be very bad at first, so that's "obviously" not good), but also the necessity to engage with things on an emotional or intellectual level. It's a tool to produce content to quickly be consumed and just as quickly discarded.
@masterzoroark6664
@masterzoroark6664 3 ай бұрын
@@thebookofive but there is a certain thing- even a normie can't survive on content alone for long. There is a certain thing that eats someone up- when you see how things can be better but your inaction makes things worse it will eat you up, on a psychological way. It sounds mallicious, but I want to put into words that normies will start rioting when there is no "better things to watch"

@@thebookofive and in addition- the whole "AI" thing is also a bubble, like crypto. It survives for longer than crypto just by the "being easy to use by noobs" point and "easy skill" is palpable as long as legislation and consequences don't catch up I tend to compare this to internet version of climate crisis we have irl- and like climate it will hurt indifferent idiots sooner than later (especially judging by how internet is speedier than real life)
@thebookofive

@masterzoroark6664 Yeah, although AI sadly is much more resistant than crypto, 'cause with that mess techbros tried to go after the monetary system, or as Dan Olson described it "5% fighting with 1%", AI goes after far less secure people with less collective power (at least for now). But then again, even if or when it dies, these doofuses will come up with something else, 'cause they can't operate otherwise. Pillar of Garbage had a great video on this whole 'disruptive tech bro' ideology: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ld5_da1q1au1dWQ.htmlsi=Nu2Gpik-8mXqYoih

@@thebookofive Tech bros are a cult, that's what I got to realize after kinda studying them. Not dissimilarly to conservatives and conspiracy theorist they try and try again to manifest things harder and harder the more they loose, hoping the world will grow tired from resisting and let them win. Pathetic
