This right here! I have been saying that I'm excited to turn 30 since I was like 21. People always respond with something along the lines of "ohh i don't want to get older". I have seen women in their thirties and I find the self confidence in them to be very admirable and I've been told most of that comes with age. I can already feel it. I'm so much more self assured now at 26 than I was at 21. I'm excited to get wiser and learn from life experiences and have a stronger sense of self because the women in their thirties and beyond are killing it!

At 44 I’m a Xennial and I am just accepting all of this for myself, too. I was hard core CrossFit gal and prized a “perfect” physique. It is a daily challenge to tell myself my worth does not change because of some random external factor like weight, job, relationship status, etc. As humans our worth never changes …. So much love to everyone here who is doing the work for self love ❤️

As someone who literally has a hormone imbalance (hypothyroidism) I just got used to taking medication at a younger age. It is a privilege to not need any medication whatsoever, but it doesn’t mean that those who need to are “lesser than.” I do understand some people are nervous about some medication and that makes sense. But I agree the stigma has to go! And on that note…happy birthday, Mama Abbey!

Happy Birthday, Abbey! You have been a gift to me over these last 2 years. Your guidance has helped me improve my relationship with food in so many life changing ways. After developing disordered eating at the age of 7, it consumed my life for over 30 years, and inevitably led to me developing Gastroparesis. By following your lead and learning to reframe my relationship with food my symptoms have gone into remission and I can finally reclaim my health back. Please keep the videos coming. The world needs more Abbey Sharp.

It's lovely and all the more entertaining. This video is inspiring and as someone who doesnt have a "big sister" I'm grateful for your shared wisdom. Its wild to me, at 27, how untethered and insecure i feel at times (especially as a mom) and this video really hit home for me. Thank you and happy birthday!!!!!!!!!

Happy birthday! I love the note about eating a full meal before drinking rather than saving calories for drinks. I’m 28 now and have entirely learned my lesson on that - blacking out after 2 drinks because I refused to eat all day sure ruined both my night and my next morning!! Now I focus on having a lot of carbs and protein if I even plan on having a couple drinks with dinner, surely reduced any hangovers!

Love this message so much! Thanks for being so open about mental health. Medication SAVES LIVES! It’s frustrating that it seems most KZfaqrs only want to talk about taking medication for their mental health after they’ve stopped taking it. We need more people actively treating and taking care of their health and being open about it- and that can involve taking medication.

I know tons of professionals do this (doctors have doctors, psychologists have psychologists) but somehow I never thought of working with a dietitian being one myself. I recently watched your entire series about intuitive eating in one sitting. I was hesitant to do so because up until that point I knew it only as an excuse some people use to just eat endlessly without doing anything to really benefit their wellbeing. I was able to keep an open mind and really listen to what you said and I realised that I'm not doing all that bad when it comes to intuitive eating. Some of the things you said really spoke to me and I have learned a lot about myself. I litterally have sweets going bad in my kitchen because I don't feel like eating them. I have been struggeling with my weight since I was 8. I started gaining when I had to take high doses of cortisone after a severe allergic reaction, and with the treatment there came the hunger. Can't blame my mom, it was almost 25 years ago and she did the best she could with the information she had. I am also short with a low BMR and I am a "good girl" and sit really still when I sit. Oh and I have hypothyroidism and the figuring out of the right dose of medication had me also super hungry and gain another 4-5 kilos. My biggest issue in everyday life is portion size. I can eat a lot! And there is a lot of food that can go into my body between the point where I am no longer hungry and the point where I am completely stuffed. I'm working on finding out the right portion size that makes me comfortably full while giving me all the important nutrients. I need to lose 20 kilos in order to be at the upper end of the normal weight range, some weight needs to go rather quickly because it is affecting my ankles, my doctor said about 5 kilos are what is somewhat urgent. Things are moving slowly but in the right direction. With the added insight into intuitive eating I am also much more calm about it. Thank you for all the valuable information you are putting out there, your work really does make a difference!
@martinadelvai4115
@martinadelvai4115 6 ай бұрын
@@Cancionera40 I have to disagree on that. I think it is possible to learn to eat intuitively for many people. I don't think that it is for everyone, people who weigh over 400 pounds have often no time to try out this way of eating because they need to get some of the weight off urgently. For me it is a possibility to learn it. I need to lose about 50 pounds. A little less just to reach the healthy weight range, a little more to land where I would like to be. For me this needs to happen but is not urgent as my weight does not cause problems yet. My bloodwork is fine and I don't have restrictions.

thank you Abbey for this video. I am an 19 year old girl struggling with generalized anxiety disorder and bpd. I was treating it for almost a year with medication, and if I am honest - it helped me quite a lot. It made life seem duller but I could function and not be so self-ashamed and stuck in my own thoughts. Three months ago, I stopped using cold turkey because I ran out of it and I wasn't able to make an appointment for my doctor. So I was like - ok, fuk it we ball. And my sanity has went downhill. I am mentioning this because the shame of using medication to cope with anxiety really made me dread myself. Even my friends told me that they don't believe that I am too weak to rely on medication. They encourage to push through it and take control of myself. Now this really started an unnecessary inner conflict. I am thankful for your shared wisdom. It opened a whole new perspective. And also - happy birthday! Wish you well

Your friends are probably really well meaning, but they're not right with the perspective of being weak to rely on meds. It's a very strong thing to take medication to help you through those hard things that you likely can't help. Sure, there are things you can do like CBT, changing thought patterns, etc. But at the end of the day, some of us just need a lil medication to help us be our best selves! People who haven't taken meds seem to think they're a fix-all. They're not. As you know, they're a way to get you to a point where you CAN "take control" of yourself. I'm just telling you this because I was 19 once too and I remember what a tough time/age it was. So you do what you need to do to thrive in your life, and it's no-one else's business.

@@Ginmabes... The girl does NOT need to be enabled. The girl does NOT need to poison herself with meds. The girl needs to change her diet and take responsibility for her own life without a pill popper pushing her down. Kid... Listen to me. You can do this. I ❤️❤️ how U explained the results and now it helps others to seek help with mental health! Also, why do exercises u loath? I admire you for overcoming the mindset barrier of having 2 do a vigorous workout when 'ALL movement is GOOD movement' & I'm sure u have studied the research on this! And tennis 🎾 isn't light! THAT will definitely tire me out at least but MORE important it's fun!! Do u have night tennis courts where u live? Some places have night (VERY well-lit) tennis courts for the family! Just curious but even during the day.... What a great activity! I wish you the Happiest birthday ever! Ignore the trollers out there bc they don't mean Anything but negative thoughts meant 2 rile only trust ME 💯! Thank U 4 ALL U do! On this Birthday I wish You a Day as special as U! You deserve it & r worth it! "It" can mean whatever ur beautiful ❤️ desires in this 🌎! ❤❤❤Happy Happy Birthday! 🤗

Abbey, I have always loved your content and a lot of what you say, I think. I also thank goodness every day I am Gen X. We just haven’t given a flying f=/$ from the very beginning. No one mentions us or ever talks about us. I think it is because we have been free from the get go. Standing alone in the corner giving a middle finger if someone doesn’t love us. Maybe because we are a little older, or maybe because we just haven’t given a bleep from the start. Just an observation. Keep being you. I’m pretty sure I have the list of struggles you described and have also soften the diet because it’s just too rigid. Blessings to you.

AMEN to the exercises we hate. 😅 im 41 and ive been strength training pretty consistently for a decade now. And i ran and raced from about 33-37. These days, i prefer every other day strength training, 20-30 min tops of workouts. I miss running sometimes but im just not interested a long workout, and also, Im older now and running makes my body feel like i got hit by a Mack truck the next day. Lol. I have scoliosis and feel better when i stretch a lot, Do strength exercises, along with functional and mobility workouts. I LOATHE HIIT workouts too. I love a good cardio session but you can get that through a hard strength session and also, I walk a ton and try to move my body every day in some form . Loved this video! 🎉❤

Yes, moving is so important! I was in pain after being stagnant for a few years. Then started exercising, and so much pain melted away. I prefer to play sports like soccer or tennis. Then I am not "exercising". I am kicking someone's behind. Or if at the gym with my significant other as we entertain each other.

You’re only 36 lovely. Enjoy! In another ten or so years those hormones hit hard again leaving many women (me! 🙋‍♀️) struggling with anxiety and imposter syndrome 😢

I’m 32 and feel like I’m still in college 😂 and graduated 10 years ago. We are behind a bit with normal people but it’s fine. Got married this year. Waiting to have kids for a couple more years, don’t have a house yet (which is the main reason waiting for kids a few more years), but we are happy. My husband is 38. We moved states in May after our wedding too because he got a job (which is a reason I still don’t have a job here yet.. in a PA and there aren’t many jobs especially if you don’t have 5 years experience).
