I'm a principal of a large high school trying to figure out how to help my teachers use Teams and the embedded features to help kids in the online school setting. I send a lot of your videos to them. You presentations are easy to follow and you demos are helpful for our less-than-savvy users. You've made a big difference in the education of Memphis students during the pandemic.

I am leaving teaching because of people like you Mr Thorne. What about "banking education". Sending videos to teachers just like filling a gap or filling information or skills from their time to watch videos that you posted "for them" seems downright wrong. I learned more through managing my time and through trials than through people like you who seem to throttle on people's drives and knowing what good for them. That's why the new generations don't want to succumb to this vocational profession and do something else and thinking about teachers as less savvy means that you're downright despotic. I took from Kevin and now I'm building my own business! How about that Mr Thorne a mere less-than-savvy user became able to leave teaching and build a business. Hopefully more teachers will follow this example.
@samosa59253 жыл бұрын
How about giving real trainings to your teachers? The less than savvy users have not received any training for technology. Teachers have no time to train themselves and administrators think they can just send videos. I am a Canadian teacher and while I like technology Inhad tonuse my personal days to teach myself. This is ridiculous that we expect teachers should pay for things in the classroom and use their own time to educate themselves. I agree with the other person who said new generations will not all for the vocational career.

I'm happy for you, and excited at the same time. I'm almost 80 (in three weeks) and I've spent half my life regretting taking charge of it. It wasn't that I was unhappy all that time - more like unfulfilled. Money and fame was never that important to me, but happiness was, and eventually I gave it my highest priority in life. Even now I spend hours learning about things I'll never do or see or experience, but knowing the process gives me joy. You are a very talented individual and the reason I recently subscribed to your channel. I hope to learn more from you in the future. For now I'll just continue to learn as much as I can until life runs out. It's people like you who can and will make the world a better place. Best wishes...

Hi Kevin, You made a wise decision in leaving a job that lacked the challenge that you need to experience. I'm71 years old and I have many regrets in not believing in my self. As a director of information technology I was courted by many companies. My generation was taught that loyalty to your employer was expected of the professional. Rewards were based on performance and most important longevity. It was a major strike against you to have worked in several different companies. Today the opposite is true in that if you don't progress by hopping between many companies you are viewed suspiciously. Jeff is totally correct in his advice. It's better to have tried and failed then not trying it out. I learned and now look forward and never backwards. Your experiences at Microsoft have made a more learned person which leads to becoming more valuable asset. Good luck.

The only difference was that I did not have an employment offer, family, or friends helping me. The only thing I had was the desire, confidence, wisdom, and the courage to pursue my dreams. I have no regrets for what I did, and if I had the opportunity to do this again, I would. I hope you have a successful future. Always thankful for what you are doing. Cheers!!

I stumbled on your Chanel as i had one of those important "how to do something in the digital/ tech world." I watched one of your videos and was pleased on how easy you made it seem . You have made your choice to launch out and continue to work in a field you love and being your own boss . At the end of the day if you love what you do you'll do well and have some satisfaction too. That's really awesome ! You are smart and have a good heart so you will succeed. All the best in your endeavours. The sky is the limit !

Good for you for taking the risk and it looks like it's paid off for you! As of today (Oct 4, 2023) you have 2.48M subscribers - fabulous!! I would love to see a follow up video and hear how the journey went for you. The things you learned along the way, advice you would give someone looking to make a career change, and what you would have done differently. Thanks for all that you do to teach and improve our Microsoft skills. It's greatly appreciated! 💯 Much love from up north 🥰🇨🇦

It has been almost a year since you posted this video and for sure things are going well as you are gaining more and more followers and subscribers. I would say it was a brave decision on your part but you made the decision by calculating the risks and considering the other benefits and opening more new opportunities. Good luck with your new journey and continue making videos. You are inspiring and helping other people like me that you never actually met. And that is one of the best things. I have been following your channel and I am learning a lot from you. God bless and stay safe. :) Oh, by the way, I noticed that pingpong paddle at the start of your video. It got my attention because ping pong is my favorite sport. :)
