Nothing wrong with changing your name, lots of people do it without knowing when they grow into nick names. Changing it legally is just making it official.

Growing up, I found my name did not suit me either. I still have trouble with that. I use my nickname to introduce myself so much that people assume that is my real name. I may just change it legally. Artemis is a powerful and beautiful name. It suits you. I love your necklace.

My legal name is Courtney, I’m about to change it to Veronica soon .... like a lot of commenters here I went through phases of not liking my name and trying to spell it differently (Cortnee, Court Knee). But it really started to bother me when my group of friends started to include FOUR other Courtney’s. The question of “which Courtney” was asked constantly and it was soo annoying to me. Like I wanted my own identity almost? It was at least 10 years ago so I can’t remember why I chose it, but I said “You know what, just call me Veronica, that’ll end some confusion!” And I slowly started going as Veronica ever since. I love it so much and I think it’s really fitting to me. Like I said idk where it came from and I love that you have a sentimental reason behind your new name, but you def don’t have to explain yourself to anyone

This is inspiring. I used to spell my birth name different also. I had forgot about that. I too am changing my name. Im also changing my name, i never really related to my current name tbh. My name used to be natasha from birth to about 6 years old. For some reason my parents never really told me they were changing it to Ravleen my current name. I subtly knew there was something going on but for some silly reason never approached me and was often a surprise. When they named me Ravleen, i was dissapointed because i just couldnt relate to it and it was abrupt. I knew of the name Sophie and really loved it and resonated best. My dad realized he shouldve named me that on the drive back home because he remembered how much i liked that name in general. For about 16-17 years ive had that name. But now i feel like this is not resonating to this day. Ive tried to like it but tbh idk it never felt in alignment with me. So i’ll be changing it to Sophie and im extremely excited. Also congrats on the beautiful name! ❤️

I want to change my name to Caroline because I absolutely adore the name and have always hated my actual name which is Emma. My other middle names aren’t that nice in my opinion either. But people think I’m crazy and I shouldn’t do it and that it’s a horrible name.

It is first and foremost the name of a Greek goddess (Greek equivalent of Roman Goddess Diana) ! And most people (even a tiny bit educated at least) will associate it with the Greek goddess Artemis. So it has a Greek ethnographies-cultural connotation. Now people will mistakenly think you have greek roots instead oh hispanic ones.

I think as far as acting being your true self and acting a role are 2 different things. But I do notice actors have different acting styles. Also depends if the role is to stand out or to be a composite copy of others, like military movies where everyone wears the same uniform.

I'm thinking of changing my name from Selma, to Bee(not Bea, I *do* mean Bee as in buzz buzz haha) for a lot of the same personal reasons that you changed yours! I just don't feel very connected to my current name. It doesn't feel like me, and I'm not very proud of it. It's a beautiful name, but I can't see myself carrying it. The name, Bee, stands out to me and makes me feel light when I think of myself owning it. It means "she, who brings happiness". And I like that. Its what I want to do for my loved ones. You've chosen well. I liked your old name too, but I understand and agree with your reasons for the change. I think all names given at birth should be considered temporary, and when the person is ready, she or he, in a rite of passage, should choose their own name. I did that too in a way: I started going by my middle name some years ago, but my family will always know me by my first name. But also in instances that require my legal name, I am compelled to use my first name (had I legally changed my name as you have, I wouldn't have this problem). There was a TV show, a hybrid between the Western and spy genres, _The Wild Wild West_ (they made a movie out of it in 1999 with Will Smith and Kevin Kline) in which a leading character was named Artemus (with a U) Gordon, but I note, as I suspect that you did, that only one Artemis turns up in IMDb when you search for the name, but that's OK -- you can't copyright a name or title.
