The reason we made this video (again) is because people still constantly ask me this question. Hopefully this is a more complete answer, obviously there will be people with different experiences, also we're in Canada so our prices for everything are different. No manufacturer makes a perfect truck, that's why we build our own.

What gets me are the die hard ford fans, even after they spend alot of money fixing problems like there spark plugs or exhaust manifold studs. They just dont get it. If they had a GM they would not spend as much money.

Huh I thought exhaust manifold bolts snapping was a gm thing, but the spark plug stuff is very true a ford thing but only on the Triton engines anything above 2010 is just a pain in the but to work on unless u have all the diagnostic computers

I work at a Ford dealer, in a back room we have at least 500 blow molded cases each containing 1 special tool to work on a Ford.

I remember working on V8 engines in the 70s and 80s. There was enough room for a family of four under the hood. Now any vehicle today you have to completely disassemble it to replace a five dollar part.

Yeah, I've worked in some older stuff that has too much room, to the point where you almost have to climb in to work on stuff. A lot better than too little room, but still fairly annoying.

I lost a friend because that.. I swapped my 5.3 engine by my self...bo big deal...and my friend thought I was a mechanic because that...than he asked me to swap his 2002 1f50 ...the one the blows spark plugs and I said...take it to a shop buddy...he hasn't call me ever since...I decided to block his number just in case

blueoval250 yes a far statement and also more patience to replace those rear main oil seals shortly after their pre delivery inspection. That was a good one (90-94 explorers and aerostars).

@@pontiacGXPfan somewhat, I have to Chrysler credit for their engineering back in the 30's to the mid 70's. They were 30 years ahead of the others just in intake pulses (talking about the ram intakes). It wasn't until the 80's that everyone of the other manufacturers decided to start tuning their intakes (which is what a ram intake is).

Martin Taylor I wouldn't ever want to buy a top trim level vehicle. All those components fail eventually and cost a small fortune to replace. Plus everything that has to be removed to replace the parts!

You ain't liein my wife and I owned an 04 dodge grand caravan with power sliding doors and power lift gate. DID NOT USE THE POWERED OPTION. I didn't want to work on or replace the motors. We just bought a '12 grand Caravan with the power sliding doors STILL don't use the power option because of that. Just more shit to break.i also own a 95 f250 with the 351w and do all the work on both vehicles myself.

When I was going to buy my first truck, I put a lot of time and research into it. I talked to owners of various trucks, researched complaints online, looked at recalls, resell value, etc. This was a several month process. At the end of the day, I ended up with a ranking system based on reliability (this was for the 2015 model year). First was the Tundra followed by Silverado, with the F-150 and Ram very close (Ram coming in at 4). This was not based on the diesel models, just the gas. I ended up with a Toyota Tundra. I have 140k miles on it with zero issues. I do my own maintenance and plan on owning that thing until it falls apart. For comparison, my former boss just traded in his F-150 that had a little over 100k miles on it. His oil pump had just gone bad, and there were other things going wrong where they were going to have to pull the motor. When riding in it, the truck felt like it hadn't aged well. My Tundra drives like the day I got it. Everything is tight, no leaks, and the interior is holding up great.

the electronics will fail you long before the mechanical stuff will. sell it and get something with no computers, something that would run after an EMP went off. those are the best trucks right there.

He’s spot on with everything he says. I have a 2013 f150 with a 3.5 eco boost. It’s surprisingly not over complicated. The truck seems to be somewhat easy to work on but a lot of what you’d think is a part that should be easily available is something even a dealership has to order

The 3.5 and 2.7 ecoboost have a lot of aftermarket support. And fun fact the 2.7 qnd 3.5 block is made up of the same casting material as the 6.7 powerstroke engine. But all in all i think hes talking about the triton era because the 5.0 and the ecoboost lineup are pretty reliable in my experience.

@@tylergano1246 yeah ive seen 3.5s make north of 650 crank hp and the 2.7 make north of 580hp on e85 and meth injection. Anything more like bigger turbos and more boost youll want to build the trans and motor for sure, its still a v6 lol.

I myself am obviously a Ford fan, that being said i have a lot of respect for how knowledgeable and capable you are and can totally understand why you wouldnt like any of the newer vehicles. However, just like you said in the end of this video it is not to the point where most manufactures are this way so you cant really avoid it anymore. Great video. Love the channel. I always learn a ton and find it very interesting

Agreed, it's part of the corporate plan to own the parts companies that are selling your replacement parts- like deBoss said, instead of replacing a 35$ driveshaft bearing, Ford's welded it on the $500 driveshaft assembly, which must be replaced as a Unit . Winner- Ford+( the parts Co it owns) Looser -You, forced to cough up the extra $$ to fix a built-in flaw. Who's the smart one now ?

@@aaronhumphrey2009 difference is parts are marked up a ton so they aren't losing any money there. and with the people that buy the $1800 ones from them, they're doin alright. Parts markup is ridiculous. Shops charge you list price on parts. and look what they pay for it. It's crazy they make so much on a part you just paid them $80 or more per hour to install that also was delivered witihin a couple hours!! not a bad deal there lol

2014 Ford Explorer. Internal water pump that runs off timing chain, so when my water pump failed spectacularly (totally seized) it dumped all the coolant right into the crank case; hydrolock = motor destroyed. Dealer stated "I won't say its a design flaw, but when the water pump completely fails, you have no chance to save it." $8400 US for new motor.

Let me guess, a 3.5l V6? The one in my 2009 Flex did that. Rapid coolant loss and luckily we got it shut down before it caused serious problems. But the next oil change after the water pump was replaced, found water in the oil. Buh bye Flex. Traded that thing in before it ate its bearings and threw a CEL from the head gaskets that were likely blown. And you know Ford knows about this issue, because the F150 that gets the 3.7l version of that same V6, has an external water pump. You can change the F150's waterpump in a couple hours. The inboard waterpump on the same motor in the Flex, is an 11 hour job by the book.

This is why my dad taught me many many years ago back in the early 80s to drive GM products I'm a shade tree mechanic and I have been able to swap engines regular maintenance and have great reliability cheap parts interchangeability of parts there's no doubt I've saved thousands by driving General Motors trucks and Automobiles at the same time have many Less Problems then a lot of people I know that drive Fords I have never bought or drove anything but General Motors

You’re spot on. I explain this to people when I say I won’t own a newer ford, and I’m picky about older fords. I still own 4 fords 55 c600, 68 cortina GT, 69 cortina estate, and 79 motorhome. The big thing that makes me lean towards chevy is part cost and long term reliability. Every one of my Chevys has been cheaper to own than anything else I’ve owned over a long period of time.

I had a good one at work..( I work at a municipal fleet shop) 2010 F450.. right tail light was out.. turns out it was the BCM not sending a signal.. replaced the BCM, no core charge so it got thrown out.. then the truck wouldn't start!! Found out that the TRUCK needs to be programmed to the BCM (NOT the other way around!) Ended up having to flat bed the truck to the dealer to get the TRUCK reflashed.. all for a tail light!

This is common in all products these days. Corporate greed is killing us! I find all kinds of products at the curb on trash night that usually only need one part to work again, but that part+labor costs more than a new product. Being able to fabricate my own parts, I save a bundle. I took a picture of at least a dozen things I found in the trash that I fixed and totalled up their value. I spent a total of fifty dollars fixing what would have cost me at least 700-900 dollars worth of common household items like shop vacs and power washers.

Even the radios are subsidy locked. You can't go get a junkyard Sync module and radio from another vehicle and just plug it in. You need to take it to the dealer so they can activate it and charge you 2 hours shop time for a 15 minute job. Then every time the van goes to the dealer, they end up resetting it out of the system with the factory As-Built file, then want to charge you extra for screwing up something you already paid to have done during your last visit. I go through this nut-roll every time I take my van in for recall work. Usually takes about twenty minutes of bitching at the service manager to get the DPF monitor, Sync mod, and trailer mod all turned back on. Ford hates it when you find ways around their bullshit. If you ever run into this problem again, check out a program called Forscan. It's like ten bucks a year and does damn near everything that IDS will do.

Square body Fords were great looking trucks. I think the 4.9, 5.0, and 5.8 weren't as good as some people swear. The difference is, those trucks could break and chances are you would make it back home. The new trucks break without warning and leaves you stranded.

The reason they whine is because people put power steering fluid in them, and they are made to run ATF fluid. I have had two Fords over 250k miles and neither had that whine. Don't blame Ford for people not reading their manuals. :) And yes my 4.9 had 365,000 miles on it when I sent it off to the J/Y due to rust issues.

I also found that the reason is because their engineering is focused on factory savings no matter quality, so the end user is the one that ends paying the price for bad product.

Totally agree with this. I grew up loving Ford. My first car was a mustang, I’ve owned 5 Mustangs since. I’ve owned 4 F series, all pre 97. Starting around the time Ford split the F series line, Ford started going downhill fast. The 6.0 and 6.4 speak for themselves, the 4.6 was a constant underpowered disappointment, the 5.4 was a disaster, the 6.8 V10 was a gas guzzling underpowered disappointment. For about 10 years, they simply made awful vehicles. Modern times, they’ve made it so hard to work on them. And the parts are ridiculously expensive.

I took most of the guts from an NP246 transfer case, including the 6 pinion planetary front input gear, put them in an NP236 case, bolted it in place of my NP136 t-case in my 2003 Chevy Astro, wired up the NP236 control module from an S10 Blazer and now have a true hi/lo 4x4 Astro van. Talk about interchangeability lol.

GM is very good for enthusiasts. Back when I was playing with S-10's a few guys built V8 AWD trucks with parts from full size Chevy trucks and AWD Astro Van parts. I put Hydroboost brakes into my 93 S10 with parts from a full size 2500. Just had to get the right stuff from the junk yard. No custom parts required. B-Body Brake or Vette brake upgrades were also very popular.

and then you have Ford, who decided that after years of success with NP transfer cases in their pickups, that they should have BW make a fucking mess of things with a 1356. Yeah, a magnesium cased transfer case in a 4wd truck sounds like a great idea. And what can you swap a 1356 into? Not a goddamned thing.

My dad was ford man and so I became one. Just in the last decade Ive owned 6. Raptor, GT500, 2 mustang gt's, fusion, escape. They all seemed to be not too bad at first, but as time passed and the car's went out of warranty, it became apparent to me that being a ford man was not affordable. So I cut ties and will not buy ford anymore.

I owned a 2002 F-250 that was a great truck. I believe it was the last year that the 7.3 was used. It is also the last year that I would consider owning a Ford truck for all the reasons you site. I now own a Dodge Ram with the Cummins engine. Not much of a Dodge fan but love the Cummins engine.

I totally understand especially when you talk about the simplicity of a 1987 S-10. That is actually my current daily driver. It is amazingly simple and everything is so easy to get to because it is a four cylinder. It does break from time to time but parts are so cheap that it is basically just my time to fix it. For a $900 truck that I don't have to really care all that much about, it is absolutely perfect.

I was a partner in a shop back home in CO. Our strict policy was never take in any post-2000 model year F-series Ford trucks for anything whatsoever. Everything you said in this video was our similar experience as well. We learned (the hard way) that we usually wound up losing money working on them just due to the fact of how impossibly stupidly they were designed. Nothing on a Ford is easy to get to or work on for small independent shops. For the same reasons, we refused to take in Audi's, Saab's and Volvo's as well. All four are the worst engineered vehicles on the planet. I would have to say as far as working on cars, the best engineered cars we've worked on (for ease of access, and insightful design) were Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and post-2000 GM cars/trucks, in that order. If engineers lack the insight to understand that parts fail and need to be replaced - and still make those components incredibly hard to access - they have no understanding of how to properly engineer and design vehicles.

Agree with everything except the Audi bit. Audis are different but I've never found them hard to work on. Will grant you that if you're not working on them consistently, they can be harder, but they're always designed with maintenance in mind.

Been running deleted and tuned LBZ and LMM Duramax trucks. My favorite trucks of all time. My local diesel repair shop is 98% Ford repair work. I asked them which Ford diesel is the best and they said they all equally suck in their own special way. Lol They get a few Cummins from time to time, but hardly ever get a Duramax. And Duramax trucks are the most common in my area too. Only problem with Cummins trucks is the horrible transmissions. They're on borrowed time.

Me too i have 14 and will buy another one blown engines and all..you look on the road and see which are the work trucks you may see a Toyota or a ram at a jobsite but not loaded up hauling a trailer with cement or pavers/scaffolding as for Ram pulling cars down the road..these guys have to $pend mega bucks to haul..i think that most remove the beds because it to heavy with the cars..just saying i just cut in a 5th wheel hitch and hookup and roll..i have 3- 6.0 and have only replaced injectors oil changes ever 6k miles..of course egr delete

@Youll Never Know none believe it or not i was always worried about the plugs in the 5.4 and the head bolts in the 6.0..but none of my truck's had those issues the 6.0 was the egr & oil coolers & the 5.4 with 400k original transmission the shitty roller/fake rocker bearing didnt even blow the piston just stopped bought a used 5.4 for $800.00 changed all gaskets add $250 & 2 days later on the road and gas mileage is now 15mpg..crazy i was getting 10..i also have 2 more f150 98' 00' i usually buy them new and do PM'S myself regularly..believe me Toyotas and Nissans are really nice looking trucks but if they are on a jobsite those guys that own them are either the boss the owners or guys that parkk them way down the street so they dont get any dirt on them..i think they wax the rubber..they get almost undressed to drive the home..i dont call that a truck..now i like Internationals but not a daily driver and if i was over the road id get a freightliner but as for WORK TRUCKS ITS FORD ALL THE WAY ! & My kids drive them as well..probably because i bought them..rams have terrible turning radius & GMC's fall apart now I've owned a 2007 Escalade ESV AWD with 20" best ride ever also 2 mini coppers also BMW full Service was the best..but when they put some sort of traction controls they ruined it it counter steered the car h it was out of my control anyway..we also have a LEXUS and i guess if your an old fart that doesn't drive it works but not for us im fixin that pos feels like daily it has 67k miles and the dealership just wants to screw me..hoping i can get lemon law if that still exists

Thanks for your honest talk boss. I live in Jamaica, where we still use older vehicles because they have proven themselves in our climate/road conditions, and we can fix them ourselves. I have a 92 Nissan 4WD diesel TD27, daily driver, no ECM, 208,000 miles . Every week I get requests from persons who want to buy it. I have a 93 Toyota 1HZ non turbo diesel, 500k km daily driver. Change the timing belt every 100k kilometers, oil and filter, good to go. Although change is inevitable, we like things which are durable and we can fix. It is sad that the world is going away from that. Should everyone work for a dealer/corporation/multinational ? NO ! Small businesses like yours and mine Deboss are the heartbeat of every economy. Ford guy as well here - being that his biggest points were how shit the 5.4, 6.0, & 6.4 are, I'd also agree. My '93 with a 302 has given me no big issues other than stuff that happens to any 27/8 year old truck, and my 2014 5.0 hasn't given me any issues at all.

I love this. Get static on my 1982 f150 and 1986 f250 all the time for being too old. I love um, and wouldn’t buy anything newer from them. People like you helped me make the f250 a swapped Cummins 4bt. If I had to do it all over again I’d do a ppump 24 valve due to your input. Y’all keep me inspired. I knew a fellow who's business was installing snow plows and dump beds etc , he had done this for many years and quit the business because he said it was too hard findng places to hook up the wiring etc, if you do it wrong now you can screw up modules etc.

All brands are getting to be that way. A friend of mine picked up a newer Sierra 2500, we couldn't connect the topper brake light since you need a special harness to plug into the rear body control module. Most older trucks had a capped off wire in the tail light harness for it. Just another way they can squeeze the little guy.

Check out the Ford 3.5L & 3.7L V6 Engine water pump design. WHEN the water pump leaks the water will go down Into the oil pan & soon the engine will be history. I'm sure Ford knows this Is a problem most likely to happen after warranty.

I completely agree brother, I'm a diesel mechanic aswell.. can't tell you how many people I've personally talked to with ford problems.. I even worked on a couple 6.0L's and it snowballed from I.P.R and I C.P sensors to ripping apart the entire engine to get to the high pressure oil pump.. the the injectors and eventually taking the heads off because everything is related to starting/running issues... Complete nightmare... Not to mention the hydro lock issues when the head gasket goes.. bends piston rods just insane how much money can go into those pieces of junk.

I concur with you. From 1949 until 2013 my father and I were loyal Ford customers buying a brand new car every 4 years. Sadly I bought a 2010 Platinum that 2 hours after I got it home it vibrated unbelievably. I called the dealership wishing to return the truck and was told I couldn't because I put insurance on it and now it was considered a 'used' vehicle. I got so pissed off I went to a different Ford dealership and unloaded the Platinum on a new Expedition 5.4 that got abysmal gas mileage, then the a/c went out and the repair wasn't covered by the warranty and the fix was almost $700. Enter a ruby red 2013 ecoboost F-150 and believe me there is absolutely NO ECO IN THE BOOST, the gas mileage was no better than the 5.4. At the end of the lease I decided that I've been abused enough by FoMoCo and bought a 2017 GMC Sierra Kodiak THAT I AM ABSOLUTELY THRILLED WITH. It is averaging 11.8 L/100Km. which is 21 mpg U.S., which would be about 23 mpg Imperial. This truck is such a joy to drive that I actually go the speed limit because I enjoy being in my truck so much. Kiss my ass good bye Ford because we are history forever. DAD: STOP SPINNING IN YOUR GRAVE!!!!!!

So sad, you should have gotten the 5.0L v8 and not the ecoboost. 5.0 is really good, reliable, powerful, and fairly efficient motor. The main reason gm trucks get good mileage is because they put weak gear ratios in them and they turn to weak trucks whenever you have to tow anything. And gm is getting a bad reputation with the cylinder deactivation they put in their engines to gain .002 mpg. Been quite problematic in the 6.2 and 5.3. You could have put your 2010 f-150 under the lemon law if the dealership couldn't fix it btw. I have a 2010 xlt with 5.4 with almost 200,000 miles and engine is still untouched and I manage 19 mpg highway which I think is pretty decent for a 2010 with that many miles.

In the year 2000, I was planning on buying a Ford Excursion. I test drove the Excursion and still had my eyes set on buying it. I then test drove a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban and noticed the ride was more like a car than a truck. The Ford Excursion drove like a truck due to the leaf springs in the rear. I changed my decision and bought a new Chevrolet Suburban LT 4x4. It is now November 2022 and I still have the truck. It runs great and it does have rust and body work needed since it spent 11 years in Indianapolis where they spread salt during the winter time. The truck has 340,000 miles and runs like a champ. My co worker had problems with his Ford F150 and we towed it with my suburban to the Ford dealership. Co worker was impressed with the power my truck still had. One thing I did religiously is change the oil every 5,000 miles and change the transmission fluid every 100,000 miles with spark plugs. Truck still runs great.

Right on!! Well said and explained. The Triton 2 thread plug hole is sooo true. Couldn't understand the first time it happended. A "Ford" guy told me I didn't torque plugs correctly. Well, had a shop that had the "tool" to repair this and told them replace all the plugs and torque to specs. Then a year later the 2nd plug goes. REALLY FORD?? I listened to your vid from beginning to end and realized I'm in good company and just bewildered at how Ford does biz. Along with the others. Keep up the great work, thanks!

I worked for a Navistar dealership for years and I will tell you Navistar is so full of shit regarding their engines (hence one of several reasons theyve basically shut down their engine business). They were doing hp branch tube repairs on UPS vans long before ever letting that information out to any other customer, circa 2007. The lift pumps on their Maxxtrash would fail. You could do every test, fail. Hard wire it, fail. Replace the pump and you could write a melody turning the pump on and off with the computer. We'd send the claim, then hear about the pumps *everyone* was replacing were passing warranty tests back at the factory at 97%. We were doing 2-3 a day. The Maxx7(?), aka 6.4, would fracture piston rings at 100k all day long. We had customes getting their 4th repl engine at 230k miles. They are so full of it I'm sure those shit for brains designed their engines on an etch a sketch. They were also so generous when their Maxxtrash 13 would runaway and grenade itself we'd get 13 shop hours to replace a complete big bore diesel with 80k miles. I never missed an opportunity to call their bullshit, they didnt like me much.

We had a 04 5.4 triton, in 2017 it had had 5 motors, i made my parents sell it after i did the final motor replace myself, i told them if we had to do it again I would melt it down myself, i have a 88 f250, transmission cracked in half and still worked, they used to have pride, not anymore

My company gets new f450s, about 2, every year. I've seen literally brand new trucks with 20 miles and when I take the dash apart to wire the new systems in, the metal framing of it is already rusted. Its insane. A 2020 f45p had 2 alternator bolts finger loose and loose motor mounts

Rodney Schnelle the alternate bracket has 4 different size bolts on it on 1996 era trucks. Chevy-2, Toyota -1

Purchased a 1998 k2500 6.5 turbo diesel from a state auction. Florida truck with 177k miles. I fell in love with it. Had all the upgrades necessary to make it bomb proof already installed. Cant beat buying from the state. They keep everything fleet service. First time in my life I drove an old chevy with tight suspension/steering.

Having worked on a fleet that had 90% fords for the med duty trucks, I know exactly how you feel and there's a reason I was the heavy duty diesel mechanic and the only engine guy for the semi trucks. I primarily did the Cats and Cummins engines and all of the electrical diagnostic and special builds. We had a couple of kids that would service the med duty trucks. I had more than enough work with the big trucks, trailers, welding, etc.

Just found Your channel, and love what I've seen of Your content. This episode (for some reason) made me remember a "story" about some famous car designer saying something along the lines of: "if I was allowed to mount an gun on top, we would sell as many as we could make"... The point being that it's a feature that is totally uncalled for and unpractical to (almost) everyone, BUT it would make people feel that it was "cool to have". And that purchasing a vehicle is (to many) a decision that is to a large extent influenced by purely emotional """reasons""", such as "looking good", "status" and other "intangible qualities" ... And this is (in my oppinion) why it's easier to sell things (in this case cars) that "look good" than things that "work well"...But that's just how we work as a species I guess. Best regards.

chevydodgedude1 the “coyote” design? Lmao it’s literally a completely different engine. However ford did make a sohc engine that the ls is based off of. The same engine ford kept destroying gm on the nascar track so the cry babies had to get that engine banned so they could compete again.

Agreed, 5.4 2v Triton owner here. You know Ford isn’t thinking of long term maintenance when it takes 2 hours to try and get the engine oil filter off with the terrible clearance issues. No, the oil filter wrench didn’t fit, I literally had to wrap a thin belt around the filter in order to loosen it.

Agree 100%. I have a 05 F250 with the 6.0 powerstroke. The 6.0 was a $7000 dollar option. My head gasket went out at 45,000. Spent $8,000 to upgrade the head studs, EGR and oil cooler, and water pump. If they are charging you an extra 7 grand for an engine, it should be reliable! Never buy another Ford, that is for sure.

I know a guy who worked at some plant in Texas where they needed a lot of trucks to get around and through some harsh conditions. He said the drive trains of the Dodges would be fine, but the bodies would get trashed. And the drive trains of the Fords would get trashed, but the bodies would be fine. Since then, I always figured cummins swapping a ford is the best way to go, if you can. Just like that guy you know who swapped a cummins into his f550 (sad to see the video got taken down). If I recall correctly, he said chevy's wouldn't last well at all.

97 expedition EB(dec 96 manufacture) with every option but sunroof. 350k miles, same engine/trans. New ball joints, shocks, coils/plugs, egr valve, 1 cat replaced. Best truck ever made. Cant sell it. Every little thing still works, both A/C zones, 4wd. I keep it for Lowes and vacations

At this point in my life I would much rather rehab a 80's / 90's Dodge or Chevy truck then to give the dealership $40,000.00 - 80,000.00 on a truck you are afraid to use for the intended purpose.

I was a Ford guy all of my life... until I worked on Fords at a dealer. 3 months later I quit and moved over to Toyota. Have't bought a Ford since. Got all my family members in Toyota.

Pop the hood on a new Cummins. Pop the hood on a 6.7. The Cummins is substantially more simple and easy to work on. You need to be an engineer from nasa to change Injectors on a 6.7

6.7 injectors are not under the valve covers and are easily accessed through the fender well.

The Izusu 2.2L motors in S10s have the crank sensors on the side of the block and are accessed through the wheel well with little drama and I actually think that's a handy place to go to replace things on a vehicle. Heaps of room once the tire is out of the way. However, in a Cavalier that sensor is pointed to the firewall.... I've had to slide hammer 3 of them out of S10 motors before and I've always wondered what GMs plan was to get them out of a J body. I've found more stuff like that on GMs than I have anywhere else, but I only own and work on old stuff...

love my 61 Falcon. We had an 89 Aerostar for years. Pretty reliable but sure got tired of working on that thing. My brother just picked up a nice 03 Mercury Marquis for 200 bucks. Rod knock. So here I am.

...boom! nailed it...I'm a Mopar guy (was a GM guy back in the late '80s - mid to late '90s)....I've never bought their stuff...but I have had a few company Fords and have something of a hatred myself....currently driving a '16 F-150 with a 2.7 EcoBoost...........few hundred km in the rear end was howling...they insisted it was tires, I know gears when I hear them and they found it was buggered...then some of the wiring went to shite and some turbo valves were going bad....in the shop again....drivers side rear door handle latch went...couldn't open that door where my tool bag was...back in the shop...steering column joints wore out a year in...back to the shop...washer lines would freeze up when driving (great on the highway in the slush)...some idiot decided to put a mid line check valve in the design so that it squirted that 1/4 second faster than before...stupid and dangerous...back to the shop...two oil pans leaking and waiting on a third...back to the shop...the shitty aluminium beds are weak as cheese (sure cabs are fine for weight savings, but make the bed out of steel)...living with that...it's due for steering column work again...wiper/washer stock is failing... Yes it's a 'work truck' but I don't work it any harder than a family hauler (I don't need a pick up a van would be far more useful), it's HORRIBLE on fuel (my Hemi is better on gas) unless you drive it in a very PRECISE manner...the tailgate electronic lock just stopped working, which suits me fine as when I leave it running and have to open the gate I don't have to remember to unlock it anymore lol...it has 185k on it, and it's been in the shop on average every 3 or 4 months for something.... ...it also receives regular, if not better than specified maintenance...and like I said it doesn't work hard.........Have You Driven A Ford Lately?....no, it's always in the shop... ............................Ford doesn't like you touching their things....hey man, I like your videos and you seem like an allright guy.....but no offence, you aren't touching my 'things' either.........LOL.
