This has been my philosophy for over 20 years of riding sport bikes. You have to respect and even fear your bike a little bit to stay safe. You have to analyze everything and everyone on the road constantly and stay 3 or 4 steps ahead of any potential scenario. Make it a game where you try to predict what everyone else is going to do at least 5 seconds before they do it. The scary part is when you realize you were wrong so often.

I remember my first bike, a CBR 600 F3 (1992) looked real scratched up was my first bike and we deliberately went for a cheap not so pretty not overly powerful bike to be my first. Last ride of the season that year with my buddies, who is older and has ridden for many years, taught me how to ride and think, we hit a road with small pebbles on it and I low side around 50 kilometers/h. Bike is fucked up. Decided to fix it up a little and sell it with a minor loss and going for a Gixxer 750-R 2001. We searched for some time and found one with decent mileage, but 200 kilometers away. So here I am one season as a rider on a 90 - 100HP bike driving to pick up a suspersport with 140HP. We check it out, a friend who works with bikes daily tests it and gives me the thumbs up to buy it. Had to ride it home late April evening my buddies in a car, and they call me and asks me to give it a little run when the coast is clear. Man the power curve compared to what I was used to scared the ever living crap out of me. Unfortunately the weather went to nearly freezing degrees and most of the ride I was freezing. We ended up leaving it at a friends house and I took the car home the rest of the way but I did not ride that bike for a few days. it scared me good which thankfully put in a little fear of god in me again. I still to this day believe it has kept me humble and respectful of the power and dangers of riding a motorcycle I love it and the speed but I sure as hell respect it just as much.

the only reason why i probably wont buy this cbr1000rr (2008-2010) is the recall on the crankshaft :/ its a big deal for me but its still an amazing bike
@jromez6315204 ай бұрын
Unless you clutch dump a lot and do clutch up wheelies a lot , the primary gear in the crankshaft won’t wine. Honda states it’s just the noise that occurs and it doesn’t affect performance or reliability, and that it was due to the primary gear in the crank not being heat treated correctly. They also state in the service bulletin that they issued for the crankshaft that only a small number of owners will be effected , leading me to think that a batch of primary gears left the factory improperly heat teated, not all of them. (I could be wrong, just a theory) . I have an 08cbr1000rr 9,000 miles on it, no crank wine. I ride my bikes pretty fast/hard, and it has so much damn power that you don’t need the clutch to do wheelies 🤷🏼♂️😅 That being said, if I was a stunt rider, or drag racing, which both include a lot of clutch dumps, l the 08 cbr1000rr probably wouldn’t be my first choice of bike to use, but if you ride it the way you would on a track, or love to rip through canyons/ winding roads, this is the perfect bike. Any racing I do is usually roll racing and not from a stand still, so the bike has been good to me so far

Used bikes are the way to go 100% just picked up a 2007 zx6r in perfect condition with only 7k miles on it and brand new tires for 4k. Yeah I don’t have a warranty but I’m okay with that I’m able to get full coverage for much cheaper since I own the bike and it’s like 12 years old. Between the zx6r and my 03 r6 I couldn’t be happier and honestly don’t feel the need to get a newer bike. my bikes still keep up with brand new 600s and in my opinion the older bikes look even better. I always tell people buy used youre way better off getting a used bike over brand new unless you have a lot of extra cash or want all the new electronic rider aids, which I’m sure can be nice but I’ve never ridden a bike with any electronics or new tech besides the slipper clutch on my zx6r if that counts lol

BaggedBlueSi yeah but 8k is twice as much as what I paid and the bike I got was still practically brand new. westboundNinja1 I No Doubt understand ,when i finally nutted up and rode my 09' 750 after already having it 3 months prior after finishing the msf course i literally had to pull over to a gas station because my nerves was wrecked from going 75 lol , Stay safe though fam and dont drive above your limits

Drey Goss few weeks ago I took it on the freeway a got it to 8mph for about 10 seconds. This bike can do it but I'm not sure it was marked to do so, granted it was 3am, cold as hell and I was already intimidated. Ended up doing 57 mile trip x2. Figured I'll hold off on doing it again until I'm COMPLETELY comfortable. May even consider switching to the sv650 bc it's much smoother imo on higher speeds. Also more planted. My vlx600 felt like it wanted to slip from under me from the wind and passing trucks on the freeway. Stay safe out there brother.

Me too. I get so many compliments on the look of mine. Isn't it awesome that you feel like you're riding a 600 but as soon as you crack the throttle you definitely know you're on a 1000 🤘😝

I liked my 2008 too. Had very sharp predictable handling and very comfortable riding position, however it burned a TON of oil. Most of them do this. If you can get one for dirt cheap and replace the transmission output shaft, replace the crank, new pistons, rings and hone the cylinders then they are good. If you plan on leaving the engine and trans alone you’re taking a serious gamble.

Im in the process of selling me ninja and I have a guy with an offer of 5600 for his cbr1000rr 08 with 9500 miles. Im just scared of buying an oil burner or a engine knocker. But im assuming it has been recalled and fixed since then.

SpeedSeeker MOTO careful, my friend has one, it burns oil but he’s managed to put 57,000 miles on it. He has to fill oil often tho

I love my 06 CBR1000RR...I currently own a dozen supersport bikes, and the CBR1000RR is far and away my favorite, unless it's raining. Then I opt for my 2014 YZF-R1 with traction control and rider modes.

I have the black one same year and model(see pic profile).Great bikes!It is a beast of a bike and for a superbike it is extremely flickable and easy to handle.The power and acceleration on this bike as well as the breaking system are tops.Just a joy to ride even on long distances.Would never get rid of my one even after all these years never given me a day of trouble,Honda reliability!
