Getting paid $18,000 in a day for consulting sounds too good to be true. And for our founder Chris Do, it was, until he learned about David C. Baker and it transformed his life forever. And unlike, the instagram stars with rented lamborghinis, David C. Baker is the real thing and you wont believe how he spends his money.
In this video, learn the specific skills David developed to become so valuable.

YES Always charge to recover from your work. Thanks to your channel, I raised my resume writing price gradually from $200 to $600. My goal was $1,500 so I could hire friends and teach my method, but then corona happened. I'm still working my ass off and hiring my first friend this weekend, and this video helped remind me to stick to my goal. I also loved the breakdown in this video of what clients do with information after a session - I used to give pro bono business consulting at Impact Hub Seattle and thought they did nothing. I got resentful and stopped doing it altogether. I recently picked this back up and that resentment has been creeping back. But after watching this video, I now realize that almost all of them implemented my guidance gradually over the past five years. I am going to look into charging now! Thanks!!!

I've just been listening to Melina Palmer and the Brainy Biz, talking about what is value. But also how pricing works vs Value and how to set yourself up relative to other offerings etc. Much of it comes down to mindset! you need to be settled in your mind that the price you want to charge is totally worth it. she even suggests you practice it in front of a mirror.

I'm having a lot of trouble grasping the value of advice given. I've heard the same spiel from people like Grant Cardone or any number of speakers on free KZfaq videos. And it's all pretty much common sense. I suppose that when someone spends $10K+ on the same advice, it's akin to a declaration that they're fully committed. But I'm still left with no understanding of how someone can command and receive that kind of money for the same advice that's so ubiquitous on the internet and self-help books.

@@bvamkris So basically, David claims that corporations are paying him insane amounts of money for hand holding. He's giving the same advice I was given for free from mentors at the Small Business Administration. I suspect Margo Chase didn't pay David $10K+ a day. I also suspect that not many corporations are paying $18K a day for hand holding in this time of economic uncertainty. And if any actually are, my advice (for only $5K) would be to STOP!

When people *don't* spend money on something, it subconsciously translates into having no value. Make them pay for it and suddenly it's not worth the 10k or whatever price... it's worth the value of whatever they have to do to *make* that 10k.. something they know the *exact* value of as an expert in whatever they're doing. Free coffee is worthless. A $5.00 coffee is half an hour of work for someone who makes 10/hr. They can't quantify the value of 0 hrs of work, but they know exactly how much effort they need for that 30m of work. If they part with the cash, they are clearly saying "this is worth *more* than the time I could spend *making* money at my job (or whatever they do). They're saying "this is worth my effort to obtain".

Good info, although I'm still a little fuzzy on what was the answer to the title question of "why". I definitely heard the point about embracing the value others see in you, and asking for more than you're comfortable with, and evaluating whether you want to do the same work for the same pay or if you want more for what you do. The best I can see is that he continued to increase his price and people continued to pay it, and that would be the "why" behind the number.
@thefutur
@thefutur 4 жыл бұрын
what answer would you have liked to hear? is there a why that you think David could've said that might've persuaded you? the answer is…because. if you are more relevant to fewer people, you can name your own price. he's living what he coaches.

The only way I would charge a company 10k a day is if I truly believe the company isn’t going to be that successful with or without my advice. If my advice was actually helpful in growing the company it’ll make more sense to just get paid in equity, that way I’ll probably make more than 10k. 10k is a lot of money for a growing company to spend on consulting. I don’t know how I could look investors in the face after spending like that. Your investors should give u all the consulting you pay for because they have a vested interest in your success. Also charging 10k a day just makes people want to contact u as little as possible. And imagine trying to do business with someone you can only call once. You will never know the amount of business you lost because of that price. This only a good idea if you just wanna make easy money from time to time or if you don’t really care about growing any businesses. It’s like one of those Dan Lok scams.

Assuming there are (roughly) 250 working days in a year, dude is netting a potential net profit of 2.5 million/year. And, thats before his claim of upping that you 18k. After watching the Futur videos for a bit now, I know that value based pricing is a big concept. I agree that value is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it, and I also agree that creatives deserve unlimited success. That said, isn't there an inkling of guilt for inflating a market beyond the layman's means? If creative services only become available to those with deep pockets, doesnt that (in some part) contradict the idea of art and creativity, in general. Idk, It just feels wrong to create such an obtuse barrier for the majority of a population. That said, Im open to hearing some justification from others...

I don’t understand why this guy is worth what he charges. He is confident ok. So people will pay him the money. But this video would be more helpful if it explained why he is worth the money he charges. No offense but it seems a bit of a click bait video. Answer the why he is worth $10000 a session. Would be more helpful.

I was wondering that too. I was particularly perplexed when he said something along the lines of 'I made a list of questions that my clients kept asking me that they expected me to have answer to....'

The answer is because he solves problems that are worth more than $10k the client.

The Futur: But that is not supported in this video. I am not trying to be critical, however the question will remain why is anyone worth that kind of money for one day. I am sure the majority of viewers are asking the same question.

Sounds like his client just got a round of seed money and had no idea what to do with it because even high-end business consultants don't charge 18k per day.

@@thefutur I do not believe any kind of graphic/designing would be worth like 2-3k dollar an hour / 18k a day. Would be open to have my mind changed though, but I find it very hard to believe so. Also as I believe you'd be able to find someone with same skills but charges less. Legal consulting could be though, but thats a different story.
