Doc is a character that, despite his shortcomings statistically, is incredibly satisfying to play with the sheer weight of his attacks. I always like to think of him as Ganon-flavored Mario: low tier but is fun to play and hits like a truck.

Doc is one of those characters that either kills you at zero or gets killed at zero, and in this meta, this attribute isn’t too bad

there's always that one character that you'd least expect to click with you but when you actually give them a try they end up making the most sense to you and can become one of your best characters out of nowhere, recently had this happen to me with mii gunner where i went from 3 mil gsp to my highest gsp character and deep into elite smash within just a few days

I've been hearing this so much about Dr Mario after i decided to pick up Doc in a random character trial to find my main. He didn't turn out to be my new main but i learned so much about timing from playing him for so long. Now I'm able to get results with K Rool due to that planning and patient execution i learned.

Glad you tried this character as well, I've been doing something similar looking for an alt. I picked up Dr a few months back and entered into my local after 1 week. Ended up getting top 4 and people were scared... The character may be slow and easy to gimp, but if you get in my god is the combo game simple and effective. Idt I saw you go for it once in your video but Dthrow at 0-10% leads to uair> and against unprepared people or people with no quick 2-3 frame aerials you actually have enough frame advantage to throw out a sourspot nair as you land > resulting in a free secondary grab and +35%ish damage already, and now you can do a finisher such as dthrow tech chase into fsmash killing half of the cast at 45-60..

I recall a video about Doc saying more or less that he is an extremely fair character and doesn't have anything that can really carry a player of him which oddly enough makes him a very good character to learn the fundamentals of the game with since he won't let you get away with things you might not have deserved from a skill standpoint making him perhaps the best training wheels character for getting the skills for higher level play to then take and transition to another better character.

Dr. Mario may be bad but man he is one of the funnest characters in the game. Insane Power, Fun combos, Funny Moves etc. Hes bad but man hes hype I still think I like regular Mario more but its very close glad to see you do well with the doc and yes Pill is very broken its only really held back because its on Doc and hes really slow imagine it on a faster character thatd be cracked

Some of what you said especially about recovery mixups applies to literally every character in the game because even if your recovery is good you can always just get ledge guarded.

I think Characters like doc, highlight the art of low tier fighting game characters. He isnt particularly complicated, but he has clear limits that the player must overcome in order to get Ws, a character like him humbles the player and forces you make due with what you have.

Doc is very easy to peak with because in truth he's not very good. His peak is at his very best is very mediocre and has a lot of bad matchups. That's why it's very easy to reach your best with him. Although good short term, he will be very terrible long term due to his bad speed and recovery.
