The fact that the monitor is being supported by a flimsy-looking box is triggering me. Also, that awkwardness to vlog is so relatable. I had several cameras with me in Japan and was cringing so hard at myself, because I was inadvertently drawing too much attention. I had trouble fully embracing the cringe.

These ads exist because they fit the stereotype that Japanese have when they think of foreigners. It goes along with their preference for foreigners from "good" countries as opposed to "bad" ones. White people definitely get preferential treatment in Japan compared to other foreigners. Remember the old TT episode when the boys mentioned how the police singled out Garnt for being Thai, then said he was all good when he showed the British passport?

On the topic of vloggers yup there are people who don't have social anxiety or its because they done it for too long. Me and my friends witnessed it first hand during christmas eve night when we were just chilling around a cool spot in a city we saw a random girl walking back and forth in a distance. We thought she was waiting for her boyfriend ( it turns out she was making a B-roll for her vlog)and as she approached near us she just lit up with energy and with a smile she held out her phone saying... 'So i just had to go out and see the decorations tonight'

Try checking out the packagings of sports products outside Tokyo. Tokyo is garnering a lot of foreigners these days, not just tourists but residents like you and Pewdiepie etc. So it isn't so surprising if many products in Tokyo are trying to appeal to these demographics by using foreign models.
