Today we visited Indonesia's biggest mall, the Mal Taman Anggrek... but it was pretty much empty! So we decided to walk across to the Central Park Mall, which was much busier and much nicer. The malls here in Jakarta are insane and we're shocked!!

Recommendation for both of you. Must come to the PIK 2 North Jakarta Chinatown Tower which is very famous in Jakarta. There is also Aloha Beach in Hawaii, similar to the one in the United States. Lots of culinary delights.

In Jakarta there are so many malls, there are 96 malls and now only dozens of malls look busy, the rest are starting to get quiet since the pandemic and the online market.

No no no.. Taman Anggrek WAS the biggest, but it was like some 15 20 years ago. LOL.. I was still a student back then, and my kid is getting ready for his first school now. Today, Taman Anggrek is just a mere relic. Just a leftover of bygone eras. Central pak on the hand, is the newer mall, and much bigger. Currently there are few malls like Grand Indonesia Mall or Kelapa gading Mall that are much, much bigger than Taman Anggrek.

I dont think that the biggest mall we Indonesian have,.i think Pakuwon Mall in Surabaya actually bigger (almost twice bigger than Taman Anggrek). While Taman Anggrek Mall is around 130.000 square metres, Pakuwon mall is around 200.000 square metres.

Taman anggrek not 'bigest' mall..that only OldMall in jkt.still many bigger and modern mall than taman angrek..u can visit CentralPak, GrandIndonesia, senayan park mall, PlaPasificPlace, mall of indonesia, balai sarbini mall, kelapagading mall, Casablanca mall, kuningan arena, epicentrum area, wtc mall, etc..

It is still the biggest single contiguous mall ever built in Jakarta.. the other so called bigger malls have unfair advantages... they are mostly built in multiple phases or multiple separated buildings connected with skybridges. 😂 Taman Anggrek is indeed the OG big mall in Jakarta. However, it is apparently true that being OG is not good enough if you dont innovate, thats what cause Taman Anggrek demise. And Central Park also feels tad bid empty now... in comparison with suburbian malls such as Kota Kasablanka, MKG, or PIM... I believe the only thriving big malls in the center of Jakarta now is just Grand Indonesia. Even Plaza senayan and Senayan City are not what they were once used to be...😅

@@ilhamrj2599 well i think one of the most important x factor is also the mall design, aura , location , surroundings. If u look at malls in kuala lumpur or bangkok its really a nice place to go and hang out and mostly of the reasons i mentioned. In KL and Bangkok u can also walk in the city from one mall to another bcoz the city has nice sidewalk. So i think those 4 X factor is really2 important.

After do a googling, actually Central Park is bigger than Taman Anggrek. The mall is adjacent and can be reached by walking, maybe the reason why the visitor traffic being shifted to the new one [CP].

There are many big malls in Jakarta, Taman Anggrek Mall is rather empty, possibly because it cannot compete with the newer big mall, namely Central Park Mall which is located next to it.

Actually... the reason shopping centers and malls are quiet is because the economic gap between rich and poor is very high, many people find it difficult to even eat every day.

Taman Anggerik Mall is not the largest mall in South East Asia, in fact the largest mall in SEA is IOI City Mall in Malaysia which is the second largest in Asia and the largest mall in Asia and probably the world is Iran Mall in Iran , followed by SM Mal of Asia in Philippines then Central Westgate in Thailand, Central World Square, and IconSiam Mall, all in Thailand. You might confused, that Anggerik Mall has the world's largest LED display, but NOT the largest mall.

Fun fact: the biggest and largest mall in Indonesia is Pakuwon Mall and Tunjungan Plaza which consists of 6 malls in one building, and these two malls are in Surabaya City

after the pandemic, and online shopping started to booming, people struggle to keep their offline(store) businesses, when they can just open up online store with no rent fee they have to pay. they start to abandoned and close their store in the mall. so i think in the future the mall tenants would be decreasing.

Most recommended place in Jakarta is PIK. its a big place. Not many tourists know this place, but this place is busy when night, 6pm above.. better go there around that time. Trust me

Visit TAMAN MINI INDONESIA INDAH.. Take the LRT Cibubur Line from Dukuh Atas station.. get off at TAMINI station and take the shuttle bus to Taman Mini...

taman anggrek, yes it was the biggest one until central park opened just right besides it.. i think the biggest one is kelapa gading mall... and the indonesia's biggest is pakuwon mall surabaya... definitely taman anggrek is already left behind.

Jakarta people ain't go to that mall anymore since ages ago!! Its a grade C mall. U two should visit Grade A malls such as Senayan City, Plaza Indonesia, Pacific Place, Grand Indonesia, Plaza Senayan, Pondok Indah Mall etc..

@@Naufal-sq3oo Pavillion mall bukit Bintang is more than 20yrs old.My first visit to KL back in 2010 about 20 yrs ago Pavillion was already there.I m not sure how old was Pavillion Bukit Bintang.This is not apple to apple but the vibes between the two malls.
