I think Sonic’s original inception was to be a force of nature or the living embodiment of freedom rather than a normal character with flaws. He’s more of an ideal

Sonic Prime definitely isn't "so hated", not by a longshot. I personally absolutely enjoy it, especially season 2. Season 2 is really damn good, and the last episode of season 2 with the reveal is absolutely fantastic. While I did predict it, it was still shocking, and I LOVE seeing how crushed Sonic was. It gave the world and characters real stakes, and I really like that about it! :D

Just because Sonic never necessarily caused the problems to solve in the games doesn’t mean he’s a perfect character. He still had flaws. But the point of his character isn’t to change as a person, but rather inspire change in those around him. I found that really admirable about him.

I feel like they made Sonic down the road to completely be for all ages, maintain a universal fan base, for all ages.

"Sonic is not going to grow with you" He has. Frontiers is his most mature iteration yet. Even for Amy, Tails, and Knuckles. They got rid of their ages for a reason. Edit: The mainline games should stick to the more mature shonen style as well as using redesigns and animation changes that'll match the tone and environment, like the Divergence Prologue for Frontiers.

My headcanon for Sonic's personality shift from Forces to Frontiers is that Tails just simply told him, "You're not funny, you have to stop telling these terrible dad jokes or I'm going to be sick!"

It can be hard to see, and I don’t hate the series and I understand it has its flaws but it’s everyone’s opinions! But I love the series and it’s own way.

I'm glad someone finally made this video. I've always loved sonic prime, but after season 2 dropped, it seemed everyone switched up and started hating on it, and I was just like what? Where has this come from? And nobody really had any good reasons to hate on it, it seems people are just hating to hate.

I think the hate towards Sonic’s characterization was more so because of lore consistency. Sonic fans wants the main series be consistent with what it is in previous titles and expand upon that, instead of change it unless it’s bad.

I'm a fully grown adult who has always been fairly indifferent about the Sonic franchise as a whole... and yet, the more I've dabbled in Sonic media in recent years, the more I find myself utterly enraptured by/with it, particularly where the movies, shows and comics are concerned. The games have always been very hit or miss for me, with Generations and Racing Transformed being the only ones to really grab me, but things like the live-action movies, the IDW comics and ESPECIALLY Sonic Prime have slowly but surely turned me into an adult Sonic fan. I can't even really explain what it is about the franchise that has caused it to suddenly strike a chord with me as hard as it has (other than the fact that I've always been kind of a sucker for anthropomorphic animal characters), but damn, it has really gotten under my skin in the last few years.... and I'm okay with that. 7:37 I didn't mind this interpretation of Sonic at first, it isn't the same as the Sonic we've seen in the games, but you could always assume that Prime is its own thing with its own take on Sonic's story. *However* since the director of Sonic Prime has stablished that this show is canon to the games, now this take on Sonic feels wrong and hard to put in any point of the game's canon without assuming this series is gonna do an 06 and remove itself from the canon so it technically happend but nobody remembers it or assuming it's part of another dimension that forms part of the Sonic multiverse, (both takes feeling like cheap ways to make Prime part of the main deal).

I think Shadow is the best part about Prime

I think you’re confused why people say they want a more mature Sonic. I was very disappointed when you used examples of Man of Steel or Shadow the Hedgehog. Look at the Adventure Era games and how they do their stories. Even Sonic 06. We’ve had “shonen” level stories in the past and older fans prefer to that over Prime that’s DEFINITELY targeted at a younger kid audience. I have no idea where there’s anything mature besides maybe that one scene in the finale of this season. Other than that, this show is incredibly light hearted and lacking elements that can draw in all ages as a whole.

I'm fine with Sonic Prime but I'm not fine with it being Canon it feels like an AU

I agree that Sonic Prime is a good show and an interesting interpretation of Sonic but I would argue Sonic Satam has a stronger storyline and characters that compliment it while also having a teenage Sonic like Prime but with more to his character like his street smarts, his uncle that he is trying to save, and keeping his cocky attitude. I don't think in the early 2000's that Sonic was this perfect character because we still saw him misunderstanding situations and coming up short in certain areas but we see how Sonic has become more mature through his experiences in battle which shape him into the person he is in the games and the comics.

The only reason why Sonic Prime is my favorite series is because of the animation, is it serious that in 32 years of the franchise we haven't had a more serious and beautiful animation?

I think why liked the 2000’s Sonic so much is the same on why a character like Forest Gump or Goku is still compelling despite being static characters. They don’t change themselves necessarily but what they do change is the others around them. To show the character the lie they believe is wrong and show them the truth. Examples I think of with Sonic is getting Elise to open up more and seize the day, showing Chip the joys of life and that people can fight the darkness in your heart or telling Merlina how life can’t last forever and you just have to live that life to the fullest extent. To me 2000’s Sonic is an example of the ideal hero who is a shining beacon for the world to look to when all hope seems lost. (I still like Prime’s Sonic but that’s just my personal favorite version of Sonic)

In my opinion I think Prime is okay at best. I do like some parts of it like the animation, voice acting and especially Shadows character. Aside from that its kinda eh, it does get repetitive sometimes and some of the words feel pretty empty. (If you like the show its perfectly fine).

I love Sonic Prime, a lot! Plus the concept of Sonic going through different worlds reminds me of the My Little Pony Season 5 Finale were Twilight and Spike went through different futures.

Sonic Prime is honestly a great series that I want to see more of and find some clues to the lore of the Sonic universe

In my opinion. I think Sonic Prime is really one of the best series going by far. Now I'm am 41 so I really do miss the 90's Sonic SatAm series alot because it became the pinnacle of my childhood and really the first thing I learned how to draw and still do today.

My biggest issue with sonic prime is how overly simplified everything is. The world they establish for sonic as the status quo is litterly just sonic and his friends living on green hill zone, and it leaves the far more insterest sonic world outside of green hill zone massively undeveloped. Every other character is just "sonic's friends" and all they do is hang out with sonic and fight eggman, rouge isn't a goverment agent or knuckles isnt the gaurdian of the master emerald on angel island and shadow just HAS a chaos emeralds without any of the others being mentioned. And the other shaterverses aren't much better with them having the most basic multiverse templates with only one or two notiable character from each universe, while everyone else is just backgroubd fodder like the jungle world characters that arnt amy or any of the priate crew memebers that arnt knuckles. Sonic himself is extreamly imature and doesnt feel like a cool free spirited adventurer. he's just a basic boy scout who always praises his friends 24/7 and always wants to save the day and be the hero, rather him just doing what he personally wants to do and it happening to be a coincidence that he likes adventuring and helping others. And the worst part is how the chaos conceal is just eggmans main personally traits split up into 5 one note bad guys who aren't interesting or funny.

I believe the whole point of his character is to inspire change in others. Like when he suggests that Metal Sonic should do his own thing and that he doesn't need to take orders from Eggman in the comics. Or how he gets Knuckles to change in the 2nd movie. Or how he eventually gets shadow to at least become an ally from time to time. Or how again, in the comics, Eggman asks Sonic when he will basically stop bothering him, and Sonic just says "Not until you get a clue and come around." Or in Unleashed: "If you played nice, I wouldn't have to break all of your toys." Can't say he got Eggman or Metal to change, but he at least tried to. (Oh yeah he got Sage to change too I guess). We get moments like this from almost every version of Sonic and as long as that characteristic is part of Sonic’s character then I won't hate a single version of him. His still has flaws outside of Sonic Prime though, he gets his friends in trouble during the Metal virus and he admits to doing something stupid in Lost World, he has made and still makes plenty of mistakes.

I feel like "OG" stuff is whats hurting franchises. I know that the old days were amazing and were probably better than most of what we have today, but we have kids who grew up on those things who are now adults who still want a franchise to cater to their nostalgia like it did when they were younger, and this aint nobody's fault, this is just the unfortunate result of time. It exists. Catering to one thing forever is not a thing, especially with an ever changing audience. To cater to then's kids would be to ignore another audience who may not like the "complexity" or some other element of your show. To cater to now's kids would be to ignore the OTHER audience who don't like things because they feel like the old things were simply better due to subjective nostalgia. There will never ever be a day where the entire world is happy about something, and it will constantly tear franchises apart.

Sorry my guy, but Sonic's character is one of the things making it harder to watch the show. He's just suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper *dumb* , it hurts!

I love sonic prime, the animation, the voices, the fight scenes, sound effects and music is amazing. In the older games I always feel like his the character designs mixed in with realism backgrounds and humans always felt strange so I love the cartoonish look, everything in the show just feels right

I think the main problem isn’t it’s tone I think in my opinion is the fact that this is somehow cannon to the games which makes me not like Sonic in this because he’s just too different if it was a show from a separate universe then I wouldn’t mind and if that is the case why say it’s cannon in the first place it’s not like Sega or sonic team is gonna make a game or tv show with two Modern sonics another thing I think is the problem is the main villains the Chaos Conucil mainly because they aren’t a threat and I find it hard to believe they took over the world

I think most people hate sonic in this show because how sonic is acting more childish not because the show is childish and we're used to a more mature sonic.

I’m kinda one of those weirdos that got really into Sonic at age 13 (I was having family/personal problems around the time). I liked him as a kid, but I didn’t really play the games that much.

Prime is ok but i feel like every episode is the same. Story for a few minutes, fighting for a majority of the episode, then story for the last few minutes. Rinse and repeat

It’s important to address that Sonic Prime was said to be a more mature Sonic show when that’s the opposite of what we got.

Sonic Prime is something I'm rather indifferent with. It's got strengths and weaknesses like any product does. Sure there's an appeal to it and trust me I see some of it myself, but Sonic in the show to me isn't my kind of Sonic I want and grew up with. I'm someone who was grew up with Unleashed Sonic back in 2008 as my first played Sonic game as a late kid. I like how he has a flaw and has to correct the error of his way in Prime, but some of his actions are too childish for my personal taking. Let's take a look back at another show, Sonic X, a show that I personally think got his personality down, at least for the most part. He's cocky, brass, reckless, a bit jokey and childish, and does cause problems for some people around him, but he does go out of his way to fix it. Sure, the human characters can sometimes take away the importance of the story, but it at least helps builds it's world building whether we like it or not. Getting back on topic, it's not to say Prime Sonic isn't any of that, but I think it's the portrayal from the writers that's not really hitting it home for me, personally speaking as someone in the mid 20s.

I think the issue with Prime Sonic is that if it's true, that this series does have any sort of connection to the games. Then the change in Sonic's character would be a regression to most of the experiences he's had this far depending if and when this takes place. If however this Sonic is his 'own' Sonic as in the cases of shows in the past then him starting out and goofing up as much is mostly fine I'd say.

I like this show in its own little world as soon as they made it canon I started comparing it to the normal Sonic and for me anyway it didn't make sense to have Sonic regress like this

I can think of lots of times where Sonic as Jason Griffith made mistakes and learned from them but I do have to admit that it was Eggman that caused the main plot catastrophe or whatever villain was out there. In Sonic 06, Sonic made a mistake to bring Elise home then Eggman kidnaps her again. Also, he didn’t catch her in time to save her so he had to go back in time thanks to Silver’s help to rescue her and redo his mistake. In Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic did make the mistake of trusting Merlina though he does come through for her in the end. In Sonic and the Secret Rings he made the mistake of trusting Sharha but she came through for him in the end. There were lots of times where he would take in Eggman like in Sonic Chronicles even though he questions him but then Eggman backstabs him anyways. In Sonic X, he made that mistake of letting Black Narcissus get to him and letting his anger boil over what had happened to Chris and Cosmo thus becoming Dark Sonic. He had every right to be angry but he still needs to learn to control his temper in situations like that. In Sonic Riders, Sonic made the mistake of not seeing Wave put an exploding device on his Riding Gear. So it explodes making Jet win at the racing championship. In Sonic Unleashed, Sonic makes the mistake of talking to Eggman too much as Super Sonic when he should have done something to him. But, instead Eggman traps him in the machine to turn him into Werehog Sonic. It’s a long never ending list I can go on. Lol

I think the reason sonic did so well in the 90s and now in the 2020s is because of how varied the different takes on the character is. There should never be a "definitive sonic" otherwise we'll be stuck in another dark age or meta era

Idea: each year a slightly different version of Soni should be released as a game. Like one year it’s Adventure, another it’s akin to Prime, and then it’s the melodrama of Frontiers. I think that this could be a solution to fix the in-fighting because if someone doesn’t like that the Sonic game that year was too serious and gritty, they know they can just wait a year for the next.

Hell the classic games, you are literally....on a space station...called....the Death Egg. Yes hes blue rodent who eats chilly dogs but he also fights a Ego manic whose hell bent on bending nature to his mechanical whim. Sonic Adventure almost made us believe SONIC DIED. Then you have Shadows sacrifice. Like cmon now. We dont want dark and gritty necessarily, but we dont want "oh its for kids so make it all bright colorful and silly" No. give us GOOD STORY TELLING.

The reason I don’t love the show doesn’t have too much to do with the characterization or the voice acting or it being “childish”. My issues have to do with it being a super boring and repetitive. Every episode is a always go to a shatter space, fight some enemies for far too long and do it all again

I just don’t like how this show portrays sonic. Like seeing him get beat down every fight makes him just look like he isn’t as powerful as he use to be it’s like he doesn’t know what to do or he’s just getting weaker…I don’t know I think I’m just biased

I honestly don't hate this show. My friends and I have been watching the show mostly for the acting performances and though I question the choice on Prime Knuckles' voice actor, the rest did an amazing job acting wise on the series so far. Devan Mack as Sonic especially.

I just wished it covered the Sonic Multiverse and featured cameos from past versions of sonic series but all the characters from past material take the form of the modern sonic style!. like imagine a spiderman no way home level sonic series and multiverse of madness proportions like have Prime Sonic meet Classic Sonic (Jaleel White) and his band of ragtag Freedom Fighters and they appear in a few episodes just to wrap up that series AKA (Sonic the hedgehog the animated series). or have Sonic finally help a variant of himself with the siblings find his mom to unite the family again (Sonic Underground) or a funny AOSTH (Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog) episode as well with scratch and grounder, and coconuts and a sonic sez segment just to break the 4th wall at the end of the episode just before he enters the shatter verse yet again or maybe a sonic boom episode with Roger returning to voice sonic from the boom universe with the boom cast as well. and sticks screaming comically after seeing two sonics lol. and as he is traveling through the different shatter verses he can encounter different threats and enemies like Ixis Naugus, Snively, The Super Sonic Search and Smash Squad, Sleet and Dingo, Boom Eggman, Team Hooligan and more formidable threats like Infinite and Mephiles. that was what I thought the series would've been since wild brain owns almost every sonic series under the sun and makes re releases of every series on DVD almost every few years. Imagine it also like Ultimate spiderman with appearances of serious characters like Blade appearing in an episode, Moon Knight, and even Deadpool and wolverine but with all the older sonic characters that early fans can recognize, and new fans will get to love, like, etc. Again, that's just my thoughts on what Sonic Prime could've been but I enjoy it still none the less. PS. where is my multiversal Trio Blaze, Silver, and Marine? or Cream the rabbit and Cheese the Chao?, Or the Freaking tank himself Omega I mean they already have Both Shadow and Rouge whom are team dark members all they need is Omega. also PS. Having these sonics be like a mentor to the Prime Sonic would be amazing! Each episode Sonic learns a valuable lesson from each variant of himself and he learns to make his own path much like my boy @SpeedSuperSonic is talking about here in this video.

To be honest this character doesn’t and NEVER has gotten a clear identity. Wether it’s the art-style, designs, game mechanics, characterization, even voice. (I’m only scratching the surface) There are so many different identities for this hedgehog and his friends. The Classic games, AOSTH, SATAM, Archie, Fleetway, CD movie or series, (Whatever you think it is) The Manga series, Underground, Adventure games, X, Unleashed, Colors, Boom, IDW, The Movies, and Prime. I’m pretty sure that’s FAR from everything. All of that proves from the beginning Sonic’s never had a REAL identity. You see ALL these different properties and you’d think they’re from COMPLETELY different franchises. Mainly the multimedia stuff, but the games couldn’t figure out what kind of story tone, backgrounds, and level designs they wanted to keep. AND STICK TO THEM. But that’s what I love about this franchise. It’s always trying new things. Even if it doesn’t work, we can always go back to the old stuff or look forward to try the next new thing. You can still critique things and have your own opinions. We all have a version of these characters we can love and appreciate. 💙

Sonic prime is amazing! And I can’t wait to see the next season! It’s important to remember that Sonic is, at the end of the day, a franchise aimed at kids and I think it’s crazy how people can get so upset about the way Sonic is portrayed. The sonic franchise has become similar to the tmnt franchise in my opinion. The ninja turtles have their iterations, now sonic has his, my first exposure to sonic was through the Adventure games. Nowadays, im ok with people enjoying different versions of the character, sonic is 30 years old after all, at some point, like with all long running franchises, you have to switch things up a bit to keep things fresh

I don’t ever hate Sonic Prime at all! I really enjoy it so much! I don’t know why some people hate it?! It makes me very sad! Also, Sonic has always been my childhood since I was a kid. I’ll always love Sonic no matter what mistakes he makes and he’ll always willing to make things right. I’ve been a Sonic fan for 9 years and there’s no way I’m gonna stop being a Sonic fan. He’ll always be my most favorite Sega character forever and I’ll never ever hate him at all. I think the main problem for me is that apparently Sonic Prime is canon to the games and I just can't understand how that'd work. In a bubble, Sonic Prime is ok though.

The only think that's bad is Sonic's characterization. If they tell us that this takes place before 06 or Unleashed then I'll believe the characterization is pretty good.

I like sonic prime a lot but at 36 years old and an og fan, I would like to see a mature adult only series, just for us adult fans. It doesn’t have to be crazy graphic or anything, but just something that’s not aimed at ‘all ages’. Just for once. It would be interesting to see. Sonic prime is good though.

I love the series, but they way Sonic is being treated kinda makes me feel emotions that just make my heart rot like a tomato. I know the whole Shatterverse thing is on Sonic, but I just want a show where Sonic isn't the punching bag of all people. The Villagers disrespected him and his friends in Sonic Boom, making this look like a scenario that Uncle Ruckus would have a field day in. And then we have Prime, but this time it was for good reason, but still, can't this man catch a break and just have... fun? Somebody oughta give Sonic a cookie and some therapy after Prime because he's been a punching bag in reality when it came to the fanbase and now he's the punching bag in his own world or in this case, other worlds. Bro kinda deserves better, despite things being his fault 😞😞💀💀

I'm sorry to say that I'm among the people who didn't like Sonic Prime. Maybe it's because I've always preferred the lighter, comedy-based Sonic cartoons like Adventures and Boom over the darker, action-based ones like SatAM, Underground, X, and Prime. I was mostly mixed on the first season because I liked the concept of Sonic travelling to different dimensions and meeting different versions of his friends but wasn't a fan of its dramatic tone. however, I felt the show's second season was worse than its first. Instead of seeing Sonic travel to more new dimensions and meeting more different versions of his friends, we just got more of the same. Not to mention, Prime's incarnation of Sonic is clumsier and more prone to making mistakes he's unable to fix, a huge step down from his portrayal in previous Sonic media. (It also doesn't help that his friends constantly berate him for this.) I also dislike how each season finale ends on a cliffhanger. To my knowledge, every Sonic cartoon has ended on an unresolved cliffhanger instead of a proper resolution due to circumstances beyond their control. Even Sonic cartoons that got renewed for a second season, such as SatAM and Boom, teased third seasons that never came to be. I want to be optimistic about Prime being the first Sonic cartoon to break the chain, but I feel it's just going to be yet another victim of the Sonic cartoons' curse. You'd think by now, the writers behind the Sonic cartoons would know not to end their season finales on cliffhangers.

Sonic has always been an inspirational type character. The Japanese Box Art for Sonic, 2, CD, and 3&K all have some inspirational quote attached to them. Even CDs JP op and Ed lyrics have that effect. I don't think there was ever a major change until we got to the series being handled more by American writers. The biggest change before that was the downplaying of his attitude which would come and go depending on the game. If anything he's closest to a character like the anime version of Lupin the Third. He's a thrill seeking free spirit, he has plenty of flaws but he embraces them and while he probably won't change much he has an big impact on everyone he meets.

honestly i like it a lot, i find the diversity of the sonic franchise and the way sonic can be melded and molded into something new, good and bad, very fascinating. from an animating perspective, there's genuinely so much to enjoy about sonic prime. the tone of it being goofy and high energy and all that compliments the art style and vice versa, the squash and stretch and just overall heavy use of cartoonist techniques is just always something im in love with, i love when animators are allowed to take advantage of their craft and have fun with it. idk that's my take and why i love it. the designs of the multiversal characters are pretty good too

I think you’re generalization of teenagers is pretty one note and shallow, not all teenagers are immature tornadoes of uncontrollable hormones, some of them are actually pretty mature for their age and while they still have a lot to learn they, for the most part have pretty good heads on their shoulders. Also the problem people have with Prime is not that they’re trying to make him a dynamic character it’s that they’re trying to make him a dynamic and shove him into a setting where he should’ve had many adventures beforehand and then give him flaws that don’t make sense in retrospect because this would mean he was like this during Adventure 1 and 2, it just doesn’t work and comes off as inconsistent. That maturity you talked about did exist in the early to late 2000’s games. Why did Sonic feel more like an adult and not like a teenager? Probably because he already did the growing and maturing that you were talking about. Yes Sonic did start off as a franchise for kids but slowly it tried to grow with its audience in the early 2000’s and even before then, why do you think they shifted the tone of Frontiers like they did? You said it yourself, people hated the meta era Sonic plus we already have a Sonic media that’s doing exactly what you said can’t happen, the IDW comics are full of stories that deconstruct the franchise from Sonic’s ideology to how the constant fights between Sonic and Eggman affect others around them. A franchise as old as this should try to grow with its audience like Digimon or Final Fantasy did, because at the end of the day that’s who comprises most of their audience, this is one of the main reasons why the Pokémon franchise is always in the hot seat due to how it constantly alienates it’s audience and dumbs down the games. Saying Sonic can’t grow with its audience is a very untrue statement. Lastly about him being the one to start the trouble instead of Eggman, all that would do is make him a liability, it’s precisely for that reason that many people despise DBS Goku and love DBZ or DBGT Goku more, if your hero is the one causing the issues that makes them no better than the villain, not to say he can’t mess up every now and then like in Unleashed or X, but he shouldn’t be the trigger for problems.

I personally think that sonic primes episodes were a little too fast (no pun intended) I just wanted it to feel something like breaking Bad you know with more of the in the middle pace of it

My problem with this show is how Sonic is portrayed, acts and how the other characters view him. They act as if Sonic is the cause of things when something goes wrong. THATS NOT SONIC. They act like hes annoying. Sonic can and has made situations THAT HE NEVER CAUSED worse because of his at times over confidence. Sonic gets into little spats with characters like Knuckles and Shadow but it WORKS for them because they are forces to be reckoned with that perfectly clash with Sonics force and personality. He's quick, witty, snarky, chill and at the same friendly kind of cool that creates great moments with Knuckles and Shadows more stoic attitude. And im trying to figure out where youthful/teenager = annoying, clumsy, and out right trouble maker. Cause last i checked, THEY ALL are teens and most of them seem way more mature than Sonic. Freaking knuckles who lets himself get tricked by Eggman even acts like Sonic is annoying and a trouble maker!!!!!! On top of that..this guys is CLUMSY in the show. Always getting hit when he shouldnt or tripping, in some Looney Tune manner. On top of that....the guy is moopy in the show. His tendrils will droop when he's said and will be so damn dramatic. This is not to say Sonic doesnt make mistakes or doesnt have flaws. Hes a bit short tempered, competitive, at times cocky, impatient or stubborn. But he most definitely stops and listens to his friends, even when things are bad he has this inspirational confidence. Look no further than recent stuff like Frontiers or the IDW Comics. Hell, Sonic X gave us a time when Sonic was beyond angry he became an unrecognizable black Hedgehog. THAT shouldve been explored. No quips, no cool demeanor, just anger and rage. And tell me....what part of the older Games says Sonics character....would have him mess around with nunchucks and smack himself with it -_________- . Sonic doesnt even mature in Prime. Hes been the same. His interactions as Shadow shows as much.

Sonic Prime is really good and have a lot of source material from the games. He is in a character ark and is a journey of self-discovery and redemption. I do think they should add more characters like Silver, Blaze, and the Chaotix but other than that I really like the direction of the show. I think everyone that hates on the show does not understand that his childish attitude and mistakes is intentionally part of the show so that he transforms into a better version of himself. As much as I hate to say it I would not be surprised if Sonic Prime is cancelled after season 3 because literally all the past Sonic shows have been cancelled sooner than they should of but regardless I love Sonic Prime and it is a really fun Sonic TV show.

People want sonic not modern day politics, sonic should never be changed for modern times he should stay timeless

I really love that rouge was included in the series but I miss her original established character. I wish she was a bit more sarcastic, sneaky and on her own agenda. Her depiction in SA2 and Sonic X and sonic hero’s are all versions really loved for a female character in the franchise.

I like mature Sonic little bit more, that is why I like very much Sonic Frontiers game and his voice by Roger Craig Smith is my most favorite of all. But I understand that in new shows they want to start his development fro begining.

I don't really like the idea of Sonic being a teenager as a permanent part of his character. His growth from teen to 20s is shown in the Adventure games to '06, to Unleashed, to Black Knight, and to Sonic Frontiers. I really like the more mature, laid back Sonic of Unleashed and it puts me off that a show that's supposed to take place after Sonic Frontiers has a Sonic that's back at his teenage stage, a regression of his character. That's same reason I don't like the Colors to Forces Sonic. Sonic doesn't really go through major character development, not in the main incarnation at least. He's always been a way for characters around him to grow, which is why Sonic is cool.

My only problem with it is the soundtrack for the most part. It’s fairly disappointing in comparison to other sonic projects. I don’t think that’s only a problem in prime though. I think the movies need to step up their soundtracks too. It’s not that the soundtracks are bad, they just don’t pop out like most Sonic soundtracks do

Bruh, some sonic fans could not be DMC fans. There’s nothing wrong with a character that doesn’t have to grow or has very short growth I should say. “Oh this character relates to me, cus he’s a fuckup, therefore I can identify with him” is just kind of lazy imo. You don’t need to relate to a character to have fun with them. No one relates to Batman, almost absolutely no one, but people love that character whether he’s flawed or not, No matter the interpretation, all they care about is “is Batman cool in this story” Same thing with Sonic, he can have a character arc, but at the end of the day if he comes across as lame and annoying then it’s not working….. But my main issue with this show is them claiming the story is cannon when this takes place clearly after Adventure 2 at LEAST and Sonic has never acted like this before, And he’s learned this lesson of being impulsive in Sonic Lost World so like I don’t even understand why he’s like this right now I don’t care if Sonic has a dark tone, I don’t care if he has a comedic tone, I just want him to feel like Sonic again. The movies do their own thing and I can get behind that after the second one, But this show nor Frontiers seems to actually understand why Sonic works and it feels like even this fanbase is losing the plot on Sonic’s character as years go by

I hope they start maturing modern sonic for older fans and keep classic sonic for the newer younger ones

The only problem I have with the show is, it feels a little squeezed and overrushed for me. If every season would have 12 episodes not only the entire show but also every dimension could have breath more because alternative dimensions/universes are always interesting.

If sonic was not supposed to be mature they shouldve never gave us sonic x ESPECIALLY Dark Sonic in the metarex ark where some died as well I'm not asking for Sonic to go around killing people but the threats they deal with are literally world ending but nobody ever gets hurt is just unrealistic Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 people actually died and eggmans grandfather was executed how is sonic not supposed to be mature again???😂😂😂

My only nitpick is that the writers of the show who are Man of Action promised that the tone of the show would be similar to that of Generator Rex an all action show that was aimed for kids and was a good balance of serious and comedic of course but so far Sonic Prime hasn’t been anything like that show of course the show is gonna get better I’m sure of it and hopefully it can reach that level of action

As someone not a major sonic fan, Prime as a show is badly paced. I stopped at the pirate episode. I think it’s reinterpretations of the cast is kinda shallow, the most interesting thing it has is a more cynical tails. It’s annoying seeing how slow sonic is as a character grasping the idea of alternate realities and having to get a reset on him re-meeting a cast of characters. Action scenes kinda lack weight and drag on too long. The jungle one had a pretty childish backstory for its central conflict. If you consider this the “best characterization” of sonic that’s fine and all, but I do not think that has as much value as you want it to have. You haven’t mentioned the episodes or plot or other production aspects at all, just a “this fits with my headcanon of how sonic should act”… that’s only one aspect of a show, and here it really sounds like it’s coated in preconceived bias to me.

My favourite interpretation of Sonic is from Sonic Boom. The dialogue and humor is what got me back into the Franchise. I’m just disappointed there wasn’t a Season 3 to end it on a high note before going into Sonic Prime. Sonic Prime is okay, but not my favourite interpretation. This is Spider-Man all over again, some like Tobey Maguire, others like Andrew Garfield, and some like Tom Holland’s interpretation. If anything Sonic should do a “Turtles in Time” thing and try to mix in all these interpretations and see where it goes.

Modern Sonic is a major part of why Sonic 4 failed. He doesn't fit. They had to kneecap a lot of things to even try. No meaningful advancement happened. And the music....oh god. It just wasn't right. Sega accepting that and splitting Sonic to have it both ways was the best thing they did. The people demanding or claiming there should be only one are completely out of touch with all of this.

Prime Sonic is super stupid, but at least no maliciously stupid like Pontaff and Boom Sonic. No way is he the same character as the one from Frontiers.

What happened to animators of sonic prime?

I just felt like the show was too long when it got to season 3, it felt like everything just carried on for ages while taking forever for anything interesting to happen. Like how Nine kept reviving the robots, and showing all the doppelgangers fighting them again and again.

I really like Sonic Prime, I get the Criticism but I don’t hate it, maybe the Series is for Fan that grew up with the Franchise or maybe it’s just telling a Simple Story with Complex Tones, but I will support this Series until the End of it’s Time perhaps being the 3rd Season and I’m going to enjoy everything Sonic as Possible no matter how different it is.

I don't think you get it, Sonic don't need to grow with me, i don't want to a dark sonic game, i just want Sonic to be fun for all ages, in a way that can respect me and you. And Sonic prime i'ts like a slapstick comedy, a looney tunes without soul. Just wanna see sonic with his friends interacting in a good way. but i can't releate with this character from another dimention, they are just a silly version of they, doing silly things. To be honest, diferent universe never was my taste. And also they tease us with metal sonic and gives us a silly metal sonic, so screw then. I'm just watching the show because i'm a Shadow guy, and i'm hungry.
