I think blizzard needs to spin wow into two major directions. retail and classic+ while maybe keeping a few classic servers for the 0 changes crowd. Classic+ imo should have a lot of changes but they cannot destroy what classic truly is. It's like keeping the chocolate cake a chocolate cake but adding some toppings and stuff.

thinking about osrs made me realize how 1 dimensional wow's endgame is, so much so most ppl start leveling alts because theres nothing left to do on their "main". in osrs theres solo bosses, rare drops to keep that carrot on a stick, minigames, extensive quests that arnt "go here kill that 20 times come back", maxing, skilling. Classic+ needs a lot of fundamental changes for it to be profitable long term like osrs. I dont think a lot of ppl nowadays will pay subscription price to be raid logged.

I remember when osrs dropped back in 2013. It was HUGE. Lots of people playing, and for the first time in years I saw the player count jump up over 200k concurrent players. Over time players started dropping off as it always happens with mmos. If I remember correctly the first major update they did was the nightmare zone that same year? So from the very beginning people wanted osrs to be something different because they knew the base game would get stale and become dead in like 3 years

I am a retail player but if plus happens I really hope if new lore is established it’s also available on retail

i still think classic + has a 98% chance of not happening. i hope i'm wrong tho

paying subscription should be enough. WoW token is a cashgrab. 160 dollars a year is already more than most games ask you. And they would have many subscriptions from many players if they keep adding new content.
