Hi Sara - thanks for this video. I just came across this KZfaq channel recently and have found the content really helpful! I was recently diagnosed with T2D (just over 3 months ago) at which time my A1C was 7.4. My doctor started me on Metformin 500 ER and I also began making lifestyle changes (eating fewer carbs, minimizing snacking, more exercise, etc). A couple weeks ago I started taking daily blood glucose readings (thanks to a work benefit that sent me a BG monitor). While my readings were generally good, I was a bit freaked out by my early morning readings which were well above what I thought my fasted numbers should be. Luckily I came across info such as the video here that describe the dawn effect. I also had a previously scheduled doctor appt, so while I was there she took an A1C reading and it was down to 5.9, so she wasn't as concerned about the high AM reading given the A1C improvement as well as the average glucose reading over the remainder of the day. She did mention to me some of the tips you had included here, in particular the exercise after dinner, so I'll try working that in as well. Thanks again for making these videos and looking forward to the next one! And yes - eating pizza in Italy sounds great!!!

Hi Bill, thanks for sharing your story! I'm so happy to hear you find the info on my channel helpful. Yup it's great to be aware of the dawn effect, isn't it? ;) I love that you were able to lower your A1c from 7.4 to 5.9 in just 3 months. Well done!! Keep it up and keep me posted on your progress!

Hi kasana health I am said to have fatty liver disease can this cause my morning reading to be high
@KasanaHealth
@KasanaHealth 3 жыл бұрын
@@janicewilliams7394 Hi! that's a good question.. fatty liver is often caused by high blood sugar and insulin resistance. But it can also be the cause of high blood sugar... depends which came first! But the good news is that both diabetes and fatty liver respond well to lifestyle changes (healthy foods and exercise, to lower BG and cholesterol). Hope this helps 😊

I don’t understand why my fasting bg is elevated 125-128, but it’s perfectly normal all day after meals. I do have a fatty liver though, and I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Loved this video ! Only been a diabetic since last fall when I had part of my pancreas & sm intestines removed. Ugh😩. Doctor told me I’m NOT a type 1 OR 2!! Said I can eat what I want but need to learn to adjust my insulin. As accordingly. How do I do that? I’m 70 with some health issues and am ready to cry with all this!!! I also have to remember to take CREON with every meal & snack. I’m so afraid to do something wrong, I barely go out! Is there a book or I info I can get that would make sense to me? ( I’ve had a mini stroke, and have no short term memory. Plz advise 🙏🙏

is it better to take metformin in the morning or at night?
@KasanaHealth
@KasanaHealth 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Betsy, it doesn't matter what time of day you take Metformin as it doesn't have an immediate or direct effect on your blood sugar levels (because of its mechanism of action in the body). So take it at the time that suits you best! If you're interested I have a video about Metformin you can watch here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nclziMip1M3Mnac.html

@KasanaHealth
@KasanaHealth 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Like I mentioned in this video, I think it’s important not to skip breakfast for someone who has high morning BG because eating can help stop the dawn effect. And if you want more info on intermittent fasting, I made an entire video about its pros and cons so I’ll leave a link here if you want to watch it 🙂 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otKnipN017HMaac.html Hope this helps!

Hi, I am got pre-diabetes. I am having same issue. My blood sugar in the morning is 6.5 in average even though I exercise during the day. Need to be a detective at night to check if I have symogi or Down syndrome. However, Is high blood sugar in the morning only related to T1 and T2?
