I wonder how much of it was a software issue. The hard reboots could get the engine computer into an unrecoverable state, essentially bricking it and the power unit along with it. It also makes me wonder where the software architecture of these cars actually is, and how much of each team’s success and struggles is due to that, instead of simply mechanical elements. Which is to say, please do a video about F1 car onboard software. Who writes it? How do they test it? How do they deploy code changes? How has it evolved over time? What’s next? Will F1os ever be a standard platform for all cars? Have any teams ever cheated with software? Is any software shared with, or eventually released to road cars? How does car software interact with simulator software? There are so many questions, and I don’t recall ever seeing anyone discuss it.

These wheels are tested within an inch of their lives so if there was a problem with the wheel it would've shown in testing. I think it's the car electronics.

I think the problem was they had a great New steering wheel, they put a lot of money in developing it all last year, and then suddenly the wheel betrayed them and said it will be steering an alpine this year. O wait, no I guess that karma belonges to someone else. I hope Piastri sees nothing but the alpine tail light all this year.
