That's G-League, not the NBA. His NBA 3 pt shooting stats are a little below average for the NBA. You guys keep waving G-League around like a golden ticket. Most people who come to the NBA from there aren't stars they're bench warmers, and very few of them make it that far from the get-go. The most important thing I noticed about his NBA stats average is that his assists are less than 5 per game. That's ok if you're an SG, not a PG, trying to get a regular NBA contract. I'm sorry to inform you that he's a ball hog, shoot first, not assist first. It's not an attractive trait in a PG unless you're at a Curry level of play, and he's not.

@@philosoraptor2285 There's really no way to say his shooting is below average for the league if we haven't seen him in the league consistently and his G-League stats are good (and they are). He addressed that shooting percentage, it's G league, an abnormal amount of players shoot over 40% from 3. He has numbers that are as good, or better, than plenty of guys his size range who have earned contracts and gotten a chance to show they can play. Yes the league always wants to get bigger but there is still a place for guys his size, but nobody wants to give him a legit chance to show he can play. It's almost certainly because he is white, if he were black the buzz about him as a player would be radically different. When Scoot Henderson was drafted there were questions about his size (6' 2") and that he was more a shooting guard than a true point guard but they said they would "develop" him as a point guard. His defense has caused turnovers, blocks, game winning stop just the other night. Like what tape are you looking at? Lol he can get open anytime he wants as well, not sure what you mean he can’t get open and takes wild shots. He just has flashy moves in general. His shooting percentages are great, his defense is great, and teams just don’t like short players anymore, especially if your white. Say what you want but it’s true. They want 6’10 or taller from guard to center. The NBA probably jerks off to 7’0 or taller amateur/foreign porn. It’s getting old. Getting taller and skinnier guys who aren’t exciting to watch. Eventually people won’t even jump to dunk. They’ll just lean forward and dunk and then flex like they did something exciting. The NBAs days are numbered. Other leagues are getting better without the weird tall fetish.

@@kennethmatney9622 Yes, you are on to something. I saw a fascinating documentary a while back about the former NBA commissioner, David Stern. Back in the 80s, I found out, the NBA was basically broke. They were paying out way too much to players compared to revenue. So they had to do something drastic. So they began to market basketball world wide in a very aggressive manner through international cable deals. Interest exploded and recruitment of Europeans and others began in mass. Now they expanded their consumer base in a massive way, worldwide. This made it all make sense for me. I think they have the business broken down to very fine details on demographics of who watches. The stats probably show that in the US they have very large support as far as consumers go from the black community, or it could even be mostly whites, but they support black players over whites. I think they also use sports for social engineering. Look at the immigration/multi cultural issues that have been being pushed for many years. This anti whitness falls right in line with that agenda as well. On a side note, just a factoid, but I think it is very relevant. David Stern and the current NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, are both members of a certain "ethic tribe". I know nothing about how the NBA commission structure came to be, but I've always found it very strange that they use the term "commissioner". This sounds like a a Soviet appointment. Also, it is for life.....like a supreme court judge. Seems very out of place in "sports". Furthermore, if you are not aware, this certain "tribe" has been very aggressive in the promotion of immigration/multi cultural issues for a very, very long time. And they are very well connected. They have an agenda. To wrap it up, it has become obvious to me that of course you have to have a high level of talent to get to the highest levels of sports like the NBA, but there are a lot of players worldwide that qualify. A lot more than the close to 500 spots available. Once you get to that level, what will determine if you "make it" or not becomes purely political/economical, nothing else. I really think that there are probably a good 50 players for each spot in the NBA that could be substituted in if the "handlers" so desired to develop them. This is what Mac is up against.

Simple way to settle this: You likely didn't start watching Mac McClung for his great passing, shooting, playmaking or defensive skills, but because he's a white kid who has an insane vertical leaping ability. Just remember that.

Guy's the second highest scorer in the G-league averaging 25.2 points per game, with 6.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds. It should be pretty simple, if you're a top 3 or 5 guy in the G-league you should be brought up... odds are you'll be just fine in the NBA.
@rarelyaccurate62526 ай бұрын
And he is the same height, or taller than about 40 guys playing in the NBA right now.

I love Mac. I really do. Ive been rooting for him since his viral High School Mixtapes. Hes an amazing player that definitely has the skills to be in the NBA. People hate on him by saying he can only dunk, but his past G-League stats say otherwise. He has a great shot from out side the 3 and i think that that is an underrated skill he has. Even though he is never getting time to prove himself in an actual NBA game situation I think that people mainly dont look into him because of his size. I mean, Look at Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren. 2 amazing ballers that can be the jack of all trades. They can shoot, dribble, Drive to the hoop, whatever involves the basketball they can do it. But this is bad news for not only Mac McClung, but for other Undersized NBA players. For players as tall as Chet or Victor to be ball handling the way they can, there will be no point for the shorter Point Guards who can do the same. The NBA is making a huge change which is exciting of course, but also very sad. We will no longer see the Nate Robinsons, or the Isiah Thomas. The NBA has officially started a new era.
@ballinforjesus36458 ай бұрын
It's not like wembys and Chets are a dime a dozen. That is extremely rare. They still need a whole league filled with players, and for the most part, a team cannot function without the traditional guards. Donovan Mitchell and Trae young are only 6'1..

This Jay Talking Hoops (JTH) producer and commentator is completely off base and negatively wrong about McClung while having no idea what he’s talking about. I highly question this JTH’s motivations and intentions on his negative assessment of Mac which should be investigated further. I wonder which group this JTH hangs out with. It is clear McClung will be a starting guard in the NBA and should be now. Mac will have an exceedingly successful NBA career. He’s a winner and has all of the mental and physical makings of an NBA standout with championship in his blood. This JTH assessment is simply without merit.

I respect the opinion, but I would bet big money that if Mac McClung was a starting PG on the Spurs, and move Vassel to the 2, that team would have a better record right now than they currently do. Wemby roaming def makes up for Mac lack of length and the fact remains at the 1 he is a good on ball defender, the only thing stopping him from being elite on ball defender at the perimeter is length. I would also bet money that the Pistons would have a better record if Mac McClung was the 1 or even an undersized 2.

You put the nail on the head...Mac McClung needs to transition his game into a PG and learn how to facilitate more and focus less on scoring first. Unfortunately, he's a scoring PG like Derrick Rose was in Chicago so he won't have much of an opportunity to prove himself in the NBA if he does not alter his game.

“Not made for the NBA” has proven to be the most debunked statement ever said. Some people come out of the G league beasting, some improve, and some fall short. Idk I would say Mac has more than proven himself for the NBA at this point. Its more weird how we havent seen more of him already.

The NBA is dirty. Certain guys get to play bad ball and wash out after a few years. Semi Ojeleye got 4000 minutes in the league and he sucked. Isaiah Thomas took a very average team to the conference finals, gets hurt then can't get a job offer when he's healthy again. 5th in MVP and .234 WS/48 and people lie and say he can't play in the league. BS. You could form a team of blackballed players and they'd get 50 wins and maybe win a playoff series. Guerschon Yabusele sucked less than Ojeleye and he only got 400 minutes on the same team in the same years playing the same position. His Real Madrid team just beat the Dallas Mavericks and he easily outplayed his Boston replacement Grant Williams. Boston cut him and paid him the rest of his contract. to replace him with somebody not as good for some unknown reason. Grant Williams gets to stick around long enough to sign a 4 year 54 million dollar contract and Yabusele gets stigmatized by being waived before he's a free agent. Certain guys get pushed while other guys are pushed out. The same is happening to Mac only worse because he's only gotten 65 total minutes and he's already got career highs of 20 points, 9 and 9 in 33 minutes in his 4th NBA game and his game score of 18.5 on Apr 9th 2023 would have been 10th in yesterdays NBA action out of 147 players that got minutes Oct 29th 2023. He's proven something with that. Now the Magic waive him before he can get on the floor in a game. Maybe they'll let him play in the G-league again and sell tickets for them. He does seem to be blackballed though for some unknown reason. Is something behind the scenes going on? Perhaps the ID37 personality assessment test incoming draftees take has something to do with guys not getting an opportunity? These types of tests are usually mainly used for testing obedience. I am likely on to something here and from personal experience I had to take something similar trying to get into the Post Office which I failed and if you fail that you don't get to take the actual exam which is skills based. The questions are ridiculous. One of the questions on the test was how often I fought in grade school like that should have some bearing on a man in his 40's with no criminal record getting a job. I answered honestly on the test. Somebody I know told me you're supposed to lie on those tests but that was that. I got a better job anyway. Nothing is more important to corporate America than obedience except in rare cases where real brains are necessary. It's a theory that ID37 is the cause and it's doubtful that it's the sole cause because the NBA is a leftist political organization but it should be looked at by the union or in a courtroom to see if maybe it should be eliminated. Good luck to Mac. If Real Madrid offers a lucrative contract I recommend taking it and stop wasting your time schooling guys in the G-league waiting for a phone call from a corrupt league.

I agree about Isiah Thomas, he still had good ball left in him and was a lot better than other guys still playing but there was a bias due to his height. However, he was 30 yrs. old and did have a career, it just got cut short. You're right about Mac, he isn't even being given a chance to show he can play and he's as good or better than a lot of guys getting playing time in the NBA. And some of them are guys his height or even shorter.
@chewy98ta288 ай бұрын
@@jeremiahjohnson1513 IT was a solid to All Star level player for 6 years before he got hurt. Him not getting a job offer after his hip got squared away is fishy. I watched that dude kill NBA teams in the fourth quarter for 2 1/2 years closing out games when regular players tighten up. He was special and sure as heck doesn't seem hampered in the clips I've seen for the last couple of seasons.

I think its only a matter of time before he develops into a JJ barea type of player, now remember.....mavs arguably only won their championship because Barea was out playing guys like LeBron and Dwade. I think McClung will start in the league getting 8 to 10 mpg as an athletic 3rd string point guard who can be a sparkplug....I think after a season or 2 of that , some team will decide hes worth the investment and make him their legit backup point guard. I think this is where he'll show his worth and be recognized as a worthy NBA player from that point on.

Yes indeed, that is what its all about and that's why he's not in the NBA. His talent and performance goes against the Leftist NBA narrative concerning white basketball players. The NBA judge and classify people by race instead of by their individual talents, abilites, and performance.The NBA also does alot of Leftist pro-black racist pandering (aka butt-kissing). Nobody likes or respects a butt-kisser. Butt-kissers can't be trusted.

People arguing he can't play defense are wild #1 nobody in the nba plays defense until the playoffs #2 His speed and vertical are huge defensively, Gary Payton the 2nd is 6'2, and he's always a huge contributor off the bench on every team he's been on, and he is a less skilled version of McClung. #3 His ability to get down the floor creates defensive nightmares in the fast break #4 he has improved his assists and 3 point shooting #5 You can't teach effort, your either born with it, or your not. #6 Frigging exciting to watch him play, which the nba needs as it's become a battle of step back 3 pointers for too long now. Plenty of great nba players that were under 6', Chris Paul is barely 6 feet tall, and no where near as athletic or fast as McClung. Truth is, nba needs to get rid of a lot of the 36-39 year old vets making 40-50 million a year, and bring in some hustlers. McClung is a hustler, and shows it every time he steps on the court. We have seen the playoffs all decided by hustle plays, nba needs this dude, because i'm tired and most fans are, of players not diving for loose balls, because their next contract is coming up and they don't want to get hurt, and some of these bums sitting out 50-60 games a year collecting 40 million. If Ben frigging Simmons, is still in the league and still hans't developed his game at all, and still afraid to shoot the ball beyond a layup, don't tell me that their isn't a place for McClung who is always putting in the work. "Struggles immensely getting separation when he has the ball in his hands" Proceeds to show McClung blowing by dudes and talking about his deep bag of tricks, and scoring every time. Weird narrative too spread and then kill in your own statement. Doesn't have the versatility to guard multiple positions, yeah no crap, not a single point guard/shooting guard does, unless they are in that 6'5"-6'7" range. Take a list of every shooting guard and point guard, and let me know which one isn't getting 40 dropped on them by a big man, or anyone over 6'6. 3:07 is a perfect explanation of his ability to not blow by people I guess, he already scored before both guys realized whats was happening. Think you need another profession buddy

The last guys that posted those numbers in the g league are playing in the NBA. He needs to play overseas and get his money. His agent sucks, having him sign with Orlando who had 10 guards in camp is foolish. There are bums playing in NBA with zero upside. 2 years of solid play overseas would probably work out better for his chances than the g league.
@insertjokeh3r36 ай бұрын
Any bad team should sign him and start training him to see where it goes. He has the drive to make it a low risk very high reward bet and the spurs would probably be the optimal place right now considering they don’t really have a stand out point guard.

Spurs is tanking. They do not want some players that improve their percentage. They are targeting another first pick in 2024 summer.
