Hello guys! We've all seen this, take it for granted! The oil when used is dark, it is darker in Diesel engines! But why? What is the fundamental reason? Will its wear be more intense due to greater compression? Or is it the fuel itself? And why is it that the most modern diesel engines are not so dark anymore? Why do more modern engines run more kms or MIles with the same oil? In this video I try to answer all these questions and a few more, the oil is in fact contaminated with badly burnt fuel, the worse the burn, the more contamination there will be!
Due to the increasing perfection in modern fuel injection systems from TD to JTD, to Mjet, Mjet2 the burning is increasingly more accurate and with less waste, with less contamination of the oil with hydrocarbons. There is less need for closer oil seedlings. There is also the aspect with engines with FAP or DPF which is the same operating principle, but with more intensity.

I'm currently flushing my 1.9 JTDm engine with several oil changes in combination with that 200km flush from Liqui Moly. The oil drain plug was stuck and when I got the car, I got an oil change made and they just sucked the old oil out with a tube. I didn't notice upon until now, when I looked at the old invoice, where it was noted. They didn't tell me. I luckily got it loose and I was right with my guess that eihter the oil hasn't been changed for a long time, before I got the car or it has been sucked out several times. The oil that came out was dark black and on the bottom of the catching pan there was that sticky mud. Poor engine. I put new oil in before I put in the flushing product and I will change it a couple of times with a flush, before I do the final fill up. I also change the oil filter every time. I hope with all of that the oil screen doesn't get clogged up. Cheers!

With petrol engines, the oil can became black due to oxidation. If engine was used for short trips, meaning mostly run while cold, the oil will be contaminated with water, hydro-carbons. That will cause oil to oxidise and lose its properties. Also black oil might be because the engine is cloged up with carbon, if it was driven at low rpm all the time. So the detergants frm the oil will cean the carbon off the engine, and became black. That is why I would change the oil as soon as it turns from brown to black. For me, that is thesign that the oil is done, it is saturated with contaminents, and can not accept any more. And it is abrasive too, so it needs changing. On my engine, the oil turn fro transparent to light brown after 10.000 km, so no problems. And longer trips are much better for teh engine oil because after it reaches the operating temperature, all the moisture and hydro-carbons and whatever, will evaporate and burn off the oil, and theoil will stay clean that way. Also high rpm is good, because at higher engine temperatures, carbon deposits on theengine burn off.

Pipes that go from the oil radiator to the oil filter housing. Which O-ring goes inside where it fits into the housing, what is the dimension of the O-ring and where can I find that O-ring? Do you have the part number for that O-ring? Alfa 156 1,9 16v

Is there a more modern oil standard for direct injection petrol engines (2.2 JTS) that is backwords compatible with FIAT 9.55535-H2?

Hello. My info is that it uses a 5w40 A3. You can use a 5w40C3. No worries

@@alfaromeonoproblem Thank you. In the instruction manual it says H2. Yes, I did a search by model on Wolf oil website, and they are reccommending that C3 oil. Is the A3 better, or the C3?

Nice video, as always! I think you are using the wrong specification of oil for that non dpf JTD 16v. It should be ACEA A3/B4 (Full saps), and not ACEA C3. Is this correct? Btw, my GT JTD uses no oil (not visible on the dipstick) on 10.000 KMs and it is not so much black at all :)

Hello. Is a common misconception. The C3 oil I use surpasses the A3/B4. My engine does not need the C3 spec but it's not harmful. It's better even. Even more, the 5w40 with no C3 spec, most of the times is semi sint. Not good. The oils are always evolving and becoming better than they wore ate the time of the engine building. The oil surpasses the manufacturing specs, so, no worries. This engines manage the oil very well. I do not top up the oil on my JTD or Mjet

Hello. It depends a lot on the climate you have. The JTD handles a 10w40. But it was built to use a 5w40.
