@@rctopfueler2841 Being from Eastern KY I heard relics of Elizabethan and Jacobean English while growing up. So I’m not questioning their validity. My grandmother used the word “axed” for “asked.” I’m just saying that I wasn’t paying much attention and for a split second I truly thought the worst. That’s all. This may be a forum where standard English phraseology would be preferable. Or not for all I know. That’s another discussion I guess.

The real Paul McCartney died in 1966 and was replaced by Billy. Billy probably has difficulty signing with his left hand and making it look like Paul McCartney's signature. Maybe he does those type of signatures in his home, etc. with his right hand. Also, Billy knows that he was not in the Beatles when the album Phil wanted him to sign was recorded. Maybe if Phil had asked Billy to sign an album from Sgt. Peppers on or a Wings album or a Paul McCartney (Billy) solo album, the response might have been different.

Many people believe that the original Paul McCartney died in late 1966 and was replaced by a very talented musician named Billy. So, not only was Paul killed at age 24, but most people didn't realize it because Billy replaced him in the Beatles and took over Paul's identity. This should be taken into account. The original Paul should be separate in people's mind from the second Paul (Billy). From what I have seen of the original Paul, he was always polite and had a very warm, charming personality. He deserves his own legacy, separate from the impersonator -- regardless of how talented Billy may be.

Gave me a flashback cause I remember the first time I heard that song was Phill's version and it was quite a spectacle to the ears listening with a Walkman being around 10 y/o. If you compare them side by side they don't differ that much, if any in the sonic content of the song so is not like Phil recomposed it, he merely made a cover trying to bring the same elements in his way.

Paul was the one who found out how to manipulate the tape machine to make loops by removing the eraser head. He then brought the loops in a bag and suggested the others also make some for the song. Most of the ones used were Paul’s but the others do have loops on the song. What matters though is the song wouldn’t be the influential song it is today with Paul

Never meet your heroes. When they turn out to be asses not only to you lose someone who inspires you but you feel like an idiot for having looked up to them in the first place. Phil probably doesn't want Paul's autograph anymore. And, the thing is that it is an impossible situation for Paul. I'm sure Paul didn't mean anything by it but such a moment to a fan is so amplified, whether it is Phil Collins or any of us, that it is easy to overreact. However, that is just as bad because when you lionize people it becomes disappointing when you realize they are mere mortals just like you are.

I imagine it was a bit of a shock for Paul to have Phil ask such a question. Perhaps it was one he wasn't ready for. Maybe Phil didn't stop to think that signing an autograph was the last thing he wanted to do, especially on an album from that long ago from better days when his other " brothers" were alive and they were all getting along. I can only imagine the emotional traumas Paul deals with from the past, the strain of always being in the public eye, people wanting autographs. Maybe, just maybe he wanted to be treated or would like to be treated like a normal human being..no autographs please!

The brutal violence inflicted upon their spouses and other family members is deeply disturbing, especially when focusing on John Lennon. Still, there are no credible allegations of George Harrison being like that, but his wife Patti Boyd did wind up leaving him for fellow musician and friend, Eric Clapton. The one legged blonde, Heather Mills claims that Paul McCartney regularly beat the plain looking Linda Eastern daily through out their long marriage. If you look back at the many clips and photographs of Linda McCartney over the years, you can clearly see she was an abused, tormented woman that was forced to endure unspeakable violence, behind closed doors. Being a fan... And being a fan that collects things as a hobby... When I hear that someone brings a unique 1St Edition and has the honor to possibly having it signed by one of the books subjects... Tells the strong admiration and love of the fan... But stepping back and hearing the reaction... It's painfully clear to me what happened and why it's actually a very tragic set of circumstances... It was Paul... Whether anyone from outside could ever really understand, the break up of the Beatles for Paul - turned that side of Paul's life - into sharp moments of pain and anger... In hindsight, had anyone advised Phil to NOT introduce the book... Things from that point on... Would be different, for sure... Because Phil was hit by a reaction to things he was never apart of... Paul wasn't able process the matter to begin with, which is the wrench from very start... Things... Control to much... Shapes from the present shaped by the past that in turn shape the future... Locking hurt both in and away... Which is how this chance event sparked like it did...

Yes, and Paul was married to the bitch Heather Mills at the time. He dealt with depression after the Beatles broke up and Linda pulled him out of it. When she died, he again fell into a deep depression. He fell for Heather because he was really vulnerable. Even though Stella warned him (and probably his other kids) that she was bad news, he married her anyway. Some men just cannot be alone. I've seen it happen more often with guys than women. Guys don't have the larger support network women do, for the most part. I hate to generalize but it is something I've seen over my six decades on this Earth. Paul was in a bad mood, obviously. Phil should forgive and try to forget because grudges just hurt the one holding them.
