I have been throwing a weightless pink Trickworm in Florida for 25 years and the reason I keep throwing it, because it works. I have just recently started to expand on that, as yourself, and have now incorporated hard jerk baits and wacky worms. After watching your video, looks like I need to expand even more. I have a few pink jerkbaits and some pink worms and I have even watched Al Linder talk about how well pink baits work for smallmouth! Great video and nope I am not afraid to throw pink baits. Thanks Matt for these great tips!!

It seems my experience with pink baits I wrote off to just a fluke occurrence. The biggest smallmouth I have hooked in 40 years was on a pink crankbait , lol. I lost it later on a snag and never replaced it . Pink sluggos in ponds were often effective , but I have seen pond bass eat a cigarette butt flicked into the water ..

Absolutely this has worked for myself and my family members. I tried looking it up as far as how bass see different colors and pink in certain water clarity will be white to the bass.

My girlfriend bought some bubblegum pink worms because she thought they were pretty and she caught quite a few, including larger, fish than me so I confiscated some and added to my arsenal. I imagine because of the action, rate of fall and being different than the others they worked great.

The pink colored worms sink differently? Why would that be? Do they sink faster or slower? Do they wiggle more or less? I'm curious but not enough to buy worms because I don't use them in the saltwater. But maybe I should.

Pink works for me on sunny days and on overcast days I usually use a pink trick worm right before a storm or right after the storm so for me it works well enough and yeah in clear water it really does shine

Great video and I noticed the same thing up here in Ontario with so many bright pink hard and soft plastic baits. Seen pink berkley flukes at my local store, but can't wait to throw my pink Berkley Spy's for big bronze back smallies in Lake Simcoe. Also picked up salt water version of the Heddon Super Spook that is that bright hot pink with some gold with I think a one knocker inside it. Would be awesome to land a fish on this lure as it was $5 bucks Canadian. Haha. For decades I threw a very light colour pink Phoenix salt tube which was the deal on Lake St Clair 20 years ago. Everything hit it from Smallmouth, largemouth, rock bass, and Walleye. I have not seen anything close to that colour anymore so only pulling that tube colour when things get tough as I only have a handful left. Haha. Thanks again Matt!

the tannic acid lake's I fish up in the north country(coca cola colour) are full of smallmouth, which seem too become angry whenever a pink bait of any stripe is tossed out. if you think about it though pink is a natural colour, rabbit's,mice and birds and born as "pinkies" so its a colour that occurs in nature.

A trout guide I used to fish with in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg told me pink was his #1 bass color. I never really ran with it. I'll give it a shot.

I've caught 12 bass on a pink floating worm so far this year, my best lure. Only 2 others on a spinner bait, 53 deg water here

I weighed in the biggest 1 day limit of the 2020 Mo-Yak Fishing Series Championship on a Pink/Silver Zara Spook. Along with a 23.00" Walleye on it that day too. Pink definitely works.

Matt Stefan, I’m not even watching the video before commenting. I’m not even sure what you say but before let me share a tip. My jig man ties me 1/4 oz red lung rubber (pink). I then will take a pack of zoom super chunk jrs in white pearl and dip the whole chunk in red garlic die. What you end up with is a pink jig the Tennessee smallmouth hit day or night.

My dad and his brothers grew up fishing the finger lakes in upper NY. He liked pink trolling lures a lot and also used the old Creme pre-rigged worms that were always a pink-ish color as I remember them. For me, I use a pink Senko sometimes...especially in current for smallmouth and creek bass.

Pink is one of my most used colors for crappie. I only use it with straight tail worms when I’m bass fishing. I caught a 8 lb bass yesterday morning bank fishing after we had a 3.5” rain that night. Caught her on a soft plastic.

Thank you so much for making this video and explaining the pink baits you use. I have been throwing pink everything from frogs to chatter baits, flukes and swim jigs. I think the bass love pink frogs in the area I fish because it might resemble a baby bird. Not sure but all I know is that bass love pink and I have a hard time putting it down. I use pink baits in ever single one of my KZfaq videos and talk about it all of the time in Instagram and I still get a lot of people doubting how good works. Caught a few bass tonight on a pink flat worm on LSC. I can’t find a ton of pink baits so I dye my own all of the time.

Use pink spinner baits and buzz baits for a long time. Always seem to shine in low light/dirty water conditions. Love the floating wacky worm in stained water in spring. Thanks for vid

I'll definitely give it a shot- I bought a pink provoke 116 jerk bait from 6th sense when they first hit the scene but, I've only thrown it a handful of times. I also have that same chuggin spook you showed- it's salt water color if I remember correctly.

I won the Federation National Championship in 1991 sight fishing and fishing a bubble gum slug-go. In that style bait it’s hard to know when you have a bite. With a Bubble Gum Slug-Go it’s like bobber fishing, the bait disappears and you set the hook!

Snakeheads also seem to love them. Big ones specifically (7+ pounds), i am considering a heavier set up because these fish are pulling max drag too easily

Al Lindner has been preaching pink x-raps for smallest for years. I used to use pink jig heads almost exclusively as a kid. They catch everything. I'm right there with you.

Back in the mid 90's one of my go to lures was a 4" or 6" Slug-Go in bubblegum. There was a long stretch of time I only had bubblegum Slug-Go's. they seemed to work anywhere I threw them. I saw some bubblegum Slug-Go's for sale the other day, I think I am going to go and buy them now.

Matt im 72 now + fish alot in my boat + my sons boat too . There 44 + 42 + 40 now along with my nephews also . Most of my life i use spinner baits + crankbaits, the very best for me + 2 sons but my middle son was only interested in pitching 1/4 oz to 1/2 oz. Jigs with live worms on hook or mister twister plastic brown × black specs with orange curly tail . We fished up north at my country house i built on the biggest lake up there with 5 very big long islands + many points + flats up to 12ft. + great drop offs to 40 ft. We were always catching monster pike up to 35in. On spinnerbaits, all depths . But him while he was growing up each . Faithfully only used 1 color jig head . PINK + day in + out 😂 always caught bigger smallmouth bass 22 to 24 inches consistently in bays 5ft. + on flats to 12ft . Pink is so 💗 incredible its hard to believe believe like you are telling all anglers give it a try . You have me sold on this amazing video . Your so talented MATT . Deepest part of lake is 99ft. Oh ya . 100% crystal clear water . I watched your tournament video 20th. Place for a check . Great 👍 . Too bad you changed your spot at end then slowed down .

This fish that first got me hooked on fishing was caught on a pink Gitzit tube I stole out of my grandfather’s tackle box. It was a bonnet head shark out of Port Aransas, Tx. I still can’t explain it.

I don't mind you giving out your secrets... but now you're giving out mine! lol! I've been hassled by my group of fishing buddies for years about Bubblegum baits, if it comes in pink, I've got it. Here is something I'll add... I've caught all my biggest SMB (3.5 to 4 lb) during trips to Ontario on the 3" Bubblegum Senko. I have no idea why, maybe ROF, size... who knows. It's a hard bait to find so stock up when you do. Oh yeah, the Pop-R in Bubblegum is a killer also, especially on windy days. It doesn't make much noise but I believe the combination of less noise and higher visibility does the trick. Keep em coming Matt!

i use bubblegum pink colored frogs and trout magnets because they seem to work great but. i also use pink trick worm etc but i dont have luck in clear water most of the time its always dirty. thanks for the vid i love my pink baits

OK you've inspired me. I've hauled around a pack of pink Flukes and a pack of pink Trick Worms for probably 10 years without getting one of them wet yet. I'll make a point of throwing them next trip out. BTW Matt, the Firecracker jigs from Chicago you featured a few weeks back looked so good that I tied up some with some Gami 26R jigheads and Hareline round rubber skirt material. I think this is a technique that I'm going to find useful. So thanks for that one.

There is this one big fallen tree on my lake that get alot of attention from the bank and boats. I've tried so many different kinds of presentations. Spinner baits, jigs, Texas rigs, shakey heads, ect. I've tried green pumpkin, black, black and blue, junebug, red, pb&j, brown, so on and so on. I've caught 2 fish out of this tree in 3 years. I almost always try to fish this tree every time I'm at the lake. But when i tried a pink zoom trick worm Texas rigged that's when I've gotten bit. So pink works.

Pink is a very popular color in Japan. Pick glidebaits, pick swim jigs, pick crankbaits, pick hollow belly swimbaits, pick buzzbaits, etc.. It seems to work universally.

In my opinion since bass don’t see the light spectrum like we do they might see pink as a different color than we do and maybe that’s why they are attracted to it maybe it looks like a color they are used to

Caught some LM bass and Stripers on the GLX Cotton Wakesion Megabass jerkbait here in California. Was an overcast day back in April. I hadn't got a chance to use it again since then. Fall is around the corner lol.

I found out in my 62 years. White, White and CHARTREUSE and Sexy Shad colors work the best for me. Green Pumpkin on soft plastics or skirts. But, I have to tell you. I am going to try Pink. I am always looking for other colors that work for other fishermen. Pink, Wow. Never made the connection. Thanks Matt for the info. Shawn

OUTSTANDING vid, I've had XCELLENT success throwing Bubblegum, or, Pink lures, especially with Trickworms, here in Georgia, will be throwing the Spro Poppin Frog in Flamingo which is a brand of pink color.

Had a buddy of mine talking about slaying Smallies on pink lures . I was very hesitant of fishing pink lures. Though for sure my man card would be revoked. 🙄 Did well with pink baits , funny thing is I do better with pink then bone color Go figure 🤔 Cool video

I have a pink Rat-l-trap and a pink lemonade Jerkbait that I bought a few years ago because my lake has smallmouth in it, but I didn't see much of a difference. I think I might give them another shot this year if I get out and see if I have any different luck.

I do believe that it is whatever color the fish perceives pink to be that attracts them. I have found through my own testing on several occasions that the best color pink when using a bait that is all one color is to use the lightest pink. Many manufacturers call their baits bubble gum but there are different shades. On a particular lake I fish often we would kill the fish on the light pink bait . As I was running low on the Baits I ordered more from the company only to find out that they had changed the shade to a much darker pink. That particular shade did not work very well so I tried some of the older ones I had in the lighter version and all of a sudden the fish were biting again. I tested several times on different occasionswith the same same results. if you're using some form of bait as a trailer it may not make the differenc but it certainly does when when the bait is a Solid color.

You might like the Salt Strong soft plastics in the FRED color, it stands for fooling redfish every day and it's a soft pink with glitter. They have 3 sizes of paddle tails, jerk shads and shrimp imitations in that color. It works well in the saltwater for quite a few different water clarities. I can't believe that those baits wouldn't catch bass, especially the shads and paddle tails, particularly the 2 bigger paddle tails. I have some Z Man curly tails that are pink glow in the dark and they get bit at night. I caught flounder and redfish with them. Bass should bite any of those baits, even the shrimp should be good in tidal rivers. Pink has always been good when shrimp are around. I've caught some fish on pink and yellow z Man jerk shads too. So i agree that pink works and don't know why.

Darn, another of my secrets exposed! Hot pink and electric lime green are 2 of my favorite senko colors. Smallmouths in WI crush them.I got a green senko hooked on a log in a bed, had the boat directly over the bed, the sm did not leave. Dropped a hot pink straight down, in 2 feet of water with the bass looking right at me. She nailed it! Ever since then I am sold on hot pink! I never see anyone throwing that color, so maybe that is why it works so well?

I crappie and perch fish with pink every year but it's a cold water thing with me. Talking mid fifty to ice. Now I could be crazy but I don't think the fish is looking at pink. I think it sees another color in a little fish head. Almost like color blind is to a human. Thanks Matt. Another great show today!!!

Pink trick worm, and pink berkley power minnow. If you cant find pink, buy white and toss in a red worm in the bag. Wait a couple days and the whole bag is pink.

@@MattStefanFishing works with all other colors as well. Chartreusse beingva 2nd favorite. Just start with white, or pearl as a base coat.

Matt I’ve had certain lakes and small ponds that the pink bubblegum worms were the only thing that bass would eat! I also had a customer that got me to match a pink lure to a specific shade of pink for one lake in north alabama. It has to be something to do with the color spectrum in different depths of water maybe?

Pink is a great color, I have had a bunch of success throwing that color in soft plastics, never reall tried any hard baits in pink but hey… why not give them a shot.

You had crazy locked up a long time ago.... lol. I personally don't throw pink stuff today. However, years ago I expierimented with pink/white blades on spinner baits for smallies.... ya they caught fish but it wasn't like it reinvented Christmas. So ya.... if a fisherman has confidence in them, then fish it. Thanks for the vid.

Here on Ft.Loudoun/Tellico , we throw custom painted bubble gum Whopper Ploppers alot for big Largemouth ... Pink Flukes work great on Cherokee as well for Smallmouth ... I've seen pink spooks get t-boned by Douglas Spotted Bass . Safe to say TVA fish crush PINK !!!

I always try different colors , sometimes pink catches better sometimes chartreuse sometimes white sometimes natural color , also transparent with lots of silver or gold flakes can be good , but they are hard to find.

Hi Matt, great info thanks👍. Speaking about jerkbaits or crankbaits it doesn't matter the color. Do you find a problem with some of these baits that have 2 or 3 treble hooks that touch and catch on each other when you cast or sometimes the way they land in the water? Do you change the hooks on those or just leave them?

I have the flukes and worms in pink and methylate - but really never thought about throwing pink in a jerkbait or crankbait etc. Do you think customizing a chatterbait, spinnerbait, and a jig with pink skirting would be just as effective? I think I just found my next tackle project. Thanks Matt.

OMG where did you find that bubble gum hula grub ? I'm headed to Lake Cumberland Monday and I have always done well there on pink senkos and floating worms as well as some other similar lakes like Dale Hollow and Center Hill in Tennessee , have looked everywhere trying to find a pink hula grub, didn't think they existed
