At this point, it's easier to just list the bands and people that Nikki Sixx didnt fight with.

Poison was my first rock band i got "into", and got me learning the guitar. Guns n Roses quickly took over as my #1 rock band, and Skid Row in #2, my biggest guitar influence was, and is, Slash. But while Slash has been my all time favourite guitarist...thats not to shit on CC. CC has , to this day, my all·time favourite guiitar solo in Life Goes On. That solo is melodic shred rock perfection! So underrated! And the solos on Fallen Angel and Every Rose had me fasvinated on my quest to learn how to "diddly-diddly diddly-diddly"!

I think later we would realize that Motley Crew were the actual possers, while Brett and CC play live without backing tracks.

Poison is just a fun rock band. Nothing wrong with that. Rock fans were just as responsible for copycat band explosion in the late 80’s. If you didn’t look a certain way, or play a certain formula, you were ridiculed. So what happened? musicians looked a certain way, and played a certain formula. Just play music that makes you happy/fulfilled. Screw the nay sayers.

It was Poison that got me into hard rock and heavy metal. A cassette copy of Open Up And Say Ahh was the first album I ever bought. They were the soundtrack to my youth, and I can't thank them enough for that.

If you read a lot of the press on the Poison, Def Leppard, Motley Crue tour this past summer, there were a lot of critics singing Poison’s praise… I liked all the bands mentioned in this video, and also love heavier stuff like Overkill, Slayer etc. anything guitar driven. Punk, alternative, grunge… whatever. There’s great music out there and from the past. I think a lot of this feuding stuff was invented by the bands and the music press to drum up publicity and I’m sure some of the guys involved hated each other. I always say, whatever you like… feeling good is good enough (movie quote lol)

Never cared much for glam metal but its definitely made an impact. Not sure where metal would have been without it lol. Awesome history

If Poison went down the path that was Native Tongue, Poison would have had that same late 90s rejuvenation story that Bon Jovi had. Native Tongue is a great record.

They had their time, at the first part of 80s they were huge selling bands, at 90s there were new bands of alternative rock, reflecting better the times, the feelings of youth , making music for the new era. and they just got behind.

I will always defend Poison. They were/are underrated. One of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. Always tight and their concerts were just giant parties and their music was perfect party music. Also C.C.’s guitar solo from Life goes on is one of my all time favorites🤘🏻

I love Poison, my only complain is their setlist, every single show is just the same, I would love to hear some deep cuts from LWTCDI, Open up, Flesh & Blood and Native Tongue

Was 12 at the dawn of the 80’s and 22 at the close and I loved all that stuff. Growing up in that decade in Northeast NJ there was a radio station called WSOU 89.5 out of Seton Hall university. They would play stuff like Metallica and Anthrax one minute and Poison and Stryper the next. It’s ALL GOOD to me.

Saw them last year at Lucas Oil in Indianapolis Indiana great concert. Poison rocked Def Leppard rocked Joan Jett amazing. Motley Crew every body great Vince Neil was a little slower on songs.

When I was a young teenager, me and my stepbrothers were into Poison, Ratt, Cindarella, all those weird pop-rock bands wearing makeup. I look back and shake my head but, we were kids. Ah well. I guess it's how some people probably look back at disco and say, "What were we thinking?"

An amazing guitarist that got stuck in a terrible band that put out terrible albums and songs. It was a band that easily attracted middle-school kids, or if you were into cross-dressers.

Poison had some great talent that was overlooked because of the 1 or 2 cheesy songs on their albums, like "Let Me Go to the Show", which is one of the 80's absolute worst songs ever written. The other ting is Bret doesn't have a great lead singer voice. He sounds great on only about 10% of their songs. Had they had a better lyrical direction along with a real lead singer like a David Lee Roth, Vince Neil, Michael Starr, etc ...IMO they would not have gotten all the hate they got.

Love or hate Bret/Poison they're still getting paid to play music in 2023, so they must have done something right. It's not high art & it was never meant to be, just music about having a good time. It's not nearly as offensive when you take it for what it is 😂

To play the devil's advocate; let's face the facts. Regardless of other circumstances, Nikki Sixx was infinitely more tolerable as a heroin addict than as a healthy, "responsible", adult who's old enough to be somebody's 'pop-pop'. I'm sure his loved ones would probably disagree, but when he was in that repetitive cycle of 'cop dope, get high, nod out, wake back up, pretend to play the bass, cop dope' , we were at least not inundated, thank you social fucking media, with his every opinion and verdict on current events, and tween girlish insults , and he certainly wouldn't have been able to stay awake long enough to realize that he wanted a new guitarist and shit-canned Mick Mars, the only band member that didn't die (repeatedly) kill someone, or end up in the joint. And seriously , is that personnel change going to do any good? The old adage about "polishing turds" comes to mind. Actually , I AM impressed that, with the legal acrimony going on between the other 3 and the forcibly retired Mr.Mars, Mr. Sixx refrained from making incontinence and senility jokes in public about Mick. Basically, when he was in a stupor, it was generally in private or select company, and we never even realized what an utter prick he is. I'm a recovering 20 year opiate addict, and I know the hurt and desperation that addiction entails so I don't take the observation lightly, but I also know that sometimes you have to take one for the team, and it also couldn't hurt his public relations situation.

Slash is a good guitarist (and things worked out well for him anyway), but he simply wasn't as good as C.C. That's not a knock on Slash, but if you have a mid 80's band and you have the choice between C.C. and Slash, there's only one choice. Come to think of it, C.C. is one of the most underrated guitarist of all time, he was truly excellent. Technical ability is great, you need it, but without the creative chops and flair, it's nothing. Joe ...cough ....Satriani.... cough... Slash has flare and creativity, I like what he does, but he does lack the elite technical ability to play like C.C.

At the time they were considered the poster-boys for butt-rock and mediocre musicians. They sold a lot of records for a while. It’s just rock & roll.

And then Poison proceeded to blow Motley Crue off the stage every night during the stadium tour while Motley Crue embarrassed themselves every night with their lackluster performance.

I saw Poison open for Ratt in 1987. Ratt was better musically but Poison was riding high at the time with Talk Dirty To Me and that's what turned on most kids at the show. Poison could be compared to a 13 year old boy sneaking a peek at a dirty magazine. They had the same drum beat, a few guitar licks, and raunchy lyrics that appealed to the teenage demographic. But one thing Poison is not is a group of musicians.

QR III had a minor hit with “The wild and the young”. The video got a good amount of airplay but that never translated to good sales unfortunately.
