@@ecogreco I understand that WWE didn't book her well, but I can give you 1000s of example where wrestler survive more harsh booking and fans and come out as the hottest superstar. Ronda wanted everything and wanted quick, that's not how wrestling works. As you can see Mordern wrestling under Triple H is going so much great with long term storyline and booking all Rousey needed to do was to wait for her moment again. Look at Cody Rhodes, Kairi Sane, Drew McIntyre.
@Furytear
@Furytear 3 ай бұрын
@ecogreco There have been many wrestlers who the fans didn't get behind you know how they handled it: they kept getting better and the fans ended up respecting them even if they still didn't like them. Her idol Rowdy Roddy Piper for example spent a large chunk of his career being booed by the fans, Charlotte Flair was getting massively booed when WWE tried to push her as a babyface and instead of throwing a tantrum and trashing the business she kept grinding and used that disdain as motivation to go out there and put on great matches as the villain. Getting booed then making public statements about how it's all fake, your opponent has a stupid looking finisher that doesn't really hurt and saying in no uncertain terms that you don't care about entertaining the people who pay to watch your matches isn't 'expressing her grievances' it's throwing a tantrum because everyone doesn't shower her with adoration. Why do you think that after she started whining about the fans not loving her the improvement that she showed at first completely regressed, she didn't get better she got worse doing horrible on the mic and mediocre at best in her matches.

Ronda was angry about people booing her, and instead of using that heat to her advantage to be a heel (like many have done), she decides to go on a childish rant disrespecting the fans and even the other women in the locker room, who have dedicated blood, sweat and tears for the sport. People like John Cena, and Roman Reigns have experienced massive hate from the fans, but they still took it like real champs. Even Maxine Durpri was receiving tons of hate from fans, but she didn’t let that bother her. Becky was right when she said Ronda has no respect for the sport. I can understand being upset over her two UFC losses, but this right here is just ridiculous.

To be fair, Cena and Reigns had both been begging to turn heel, but the neurotic geriatric control freak who was running the show at the time wouldn't have it. Go back and watch that nearly 9-minute clip of Roman Reigns on the Raw after WrestleMania in 2017. He was *living* for that.

Maybe her rants against the fans was her working as a heel. If Roman Reigns did that, you might take it as his character speaking. So Rhonda's rants towards you fans might be a work. Or are you so overly sensitive that you can dish it out but you can't take it. Besides, you cheer your favourites and boo who you don't like regardless, so it doesn't matter if you are face or heel.

According to the guy in the video, even she eventually seemed to realise she would work better as a villain. This is long after she had started to get booed, so it's not like she was a popular babyface who suddenly demanded a heel turn. The fans probably wanted it, and then she also wanted it, and it made perfect sense and would prob have gone over so well, but they still said no. Wtf was that? Like the guy in the video said, she really should have come back as a heel, or she should at least have turned heel during her return promo or a few matches in or something, but they wouldn't let her turn at all. Smh. I'm not defending her btw, I'm well aware she was a big baby. I'm just pointing out that even she wanted the same thing the fans (prob) did, in the end. The thing about Rousey is that she lost all of her motivation once the honeymoon was over and people got tired of seeing her booked as this unbeatable badass. WWE didn't do their diligence otherwise they'd have realized that her mentality in UFC was that she loved it when she was being praised as an unstoppable dominant competitor but once she took a loss got so depressed about no longer being unstoppable that she considered offing herself. Another thing is that she isn't a good actor, anyone who has seen a movie that she's had a part in can tell. It's rather ironic that she adopted the moniker of one of the best promos in the business while not being able to cut a good promo. Oh and putting in the effort when she was getting the adoration of the fans, then trashing them and the business at the first sign that they no longer unabashedly adored her didn't exactly help her career either especially when it became obvious that she quit putting in any effort at that point. Her downfall was that she thought that after joining WWE she'd get booked and billed as an unbeatable badass a'la her run in UFC before she took her first L and that she'd be coming out to crowds of adoring fans. Once she was no longer the "best" in UFC she never recovered and quit. WWE made the mistake of not realizing that she would do the same thing as a WWE 'superstar'. Any wrestler worth a damn understands not to let it get inside of their head when the fans aren't behind them, instead what we got with Rhonda Rousey was someone with a fragile ego who couldn't be bothered to put in the effort as soon as she started getting booed by the crowd. WWE fans can be fickle being able to adapt to that like many others have done(Angle, Rock, Stone Cold and Cena were all vehemetly booed over the course of their careers and never shat on the business or the fans) is what separates a true star from someone playing make believe. Rousey to this day makes excuses for losing to Holms instead of just accepting that she got her ass kicked and moving on.

She sucked at MMA too, let's not forget. She fought a LOT of people who couldn't defend against the most basic clinch-based judo throw, and the second she went up against someone who had even an inkling of understanding of grappling defense she was wrecked so badly that she went into deep depression. Ronda in WWE was only projected to be a big deal. In reality she should''ve been forced to prove herself. Not handed a WrestleMania spot in her first match. She was a failure in the sport she came from and they still acted like nothing had changed. They failed her by doing exactly what everyone in the UFC did before also failing her. They boosted her ego enough times to make her think she was untouchable and it made her cocky. So it was their fault for not humbling her from the start. They protected Ronda by giving her opponents that made sense for her. Women that wouldn't outpace her and expose her for being too green. She knew nothing of the business because she didn't even work to get to the biggest promotion in the world. She didn't pay her dues like the others. That's why she was never a big deal. She was just a vanity project.

This is why I kept complaining about her theme song "I dont give a damn about reputations" well she totally give a damn and known to took it badly when people boo and hates her. While she can do the moves, wrestling is more than do the move. It's involved selling opponent moves, promos, and entertaining people no matter positions you got in. What we got from her? Complains off TV constantly online insulting wrestling industry that give her money. She's bad at promo (even acting in few of her movies and old promo in UFC) and in some case lazy to sell moves especially to those who she didn't like or jobbers for her legitimacy. Tbh Rhonda get everything, pushed by media as face of modern woman sports since UFC, same in WWE she booked like brock lesnar. But her wrestling ability is worse even compared to Shayna really. She handed everything but when fans turn on her, she biting bad despising everything like nowadays. Without media and political feuds around woman nowadays, I doubt we cared or talking about her nowadays since really I personally don't found her entertaining/pretty/good person in my eyes.

She had an amazing run in UFC, she did the same thing each time, got her opponent on the ground, and got them in the arm bar. Every time it was over quickly. She had an aura about her. She was intimidating, she was undefeated. But she totally fell apart after she lost to Holly Holm. Even during the bout, she was shook as soon as she didn't immediately take Holm down and get the arm bar on her. It was like she lost confidence and was confused. But after she lost she was done. She could have come back and dominated, and made her loss to Holm appear as a complete fluke. But her ego is just too fragile, she was unable to mentally recover. This was the exact same reason for her downfall in WWE. When she arrived she was a legitimate name, and as mentioned in this video she was a fan of wrestling since childhood. Her tag team match with Angle against Triple H and Stephanie was excellent. One of my mates once told me he showed it to people who weren't fans as a way to get them interested because he thought it was so good. Her performance was great, she understood the phycology and just seemed to be a natural. But her downfall was her fragile ego again. She was deeply wounded by the fans reacting negatively to her and booing her. This is the reason she wasn't cut out to be a wrestler. This video went into this really well, the only thing I would add is that she was only going to be happy as long as she was on top. I remember seeing an interview with her during her first run, where she mentioned that she didn't see the point unless she was the champion. I can't remember her exact phrasing. Normally in wrestling there's a bit of hyperbole with statements like that, but with Ronda I felt like it was accurate. I don't know if she would have reacted better had it been planned for her to turn heel, and Lynch be the face. You could see her emotions on her face when she was booed, and her behaviour online and badmouthing fans in interviews shows her ego had been too fragile to handle the fans reaction to her. But I think she was going to lose interest even if Lynch wasn't added to the match and she lost to Charlotte. I think she wanted to hold the title for a long time and be dominant, and have a long undefeated streak. Of course if Lynch hadn't been added to the match both Charlotte and Ronda would have been booed by the fans, because Lynch was white hot. Even if she had retained against Charlotte she would've face a negative response from the fans and the shine would've been off. I think the suspension of disbelief would've been a lot less of an issue if WWE was being booked well at the time, which it absolutely wasn't, and also if Ronda was able to be vulnerable. She would have excelled as a babyface who was struggling to defeat a heel who was always getting over by cheating, they could have even played into her losing her confidence in UFC, and had her struggling with it but eventually overcoming it. But I don't think she would have been able to necessarily do that kind of thing. I really feel like ultimately she was prepared to be champion, be on top, she wasn't prepared for anything beyond that, and the second her ego got shook that was it.

Finally someone not discrediting Ronda MMA career. BTW she lost to Tate because she stopped training Judo and switched to training striking because of Edmen. How do I know this? because she was at Hayastan MMA a judo based MMA gym id train at. She left there and turned into a boxer. Edit lost to Holly

@@henzoko5946 that's really interesting, I had no idea. I was 100% convinced that it was entirely due to her losing all her confidence after the loss to Holm. I still believe she completely lost her confidence, but stopping training in Judo - where she excelled - and focusing elsewhere... That makes a lot of sense. It adds to it. Because if she put all her effort into what she did best she may have had more of a chance. But she just totally lost her nerve.

I'm not trying to be bitter but I'm still angry with badly they screwed up Asuka and had an already accomplished Charlotte Flair end her streak for literally no reason it was such a waste of the first Womens Rumble winner

@@Kalel2.0 I have similar sentiments to how they treated the Charlotte vs Ripley feud. Charlotte didn't need to go over there... Again lol

I remember being in Middle School, hearing that Ronda Rousey will make a debut with WWE was very exciting, or at least for me.
